What a beautiful little adventure of an afternoon, combining a fair with a canal. And for a bonus we learn that Mr. CTC hails from Droitwich, perhaps explaining how he became such an adroit reporter of events such as this! And it was a rather adroit merger of video and verbiage into an enjoyable vlog. Thanks for posting, sir
I originally watched your channel because I was interested in boats and your dry wit always put a smile on my face - priceless. These days I watch it as an antidote to everything else I see happening... thanks for making such a wonderful channel!
I'm amazed to see everyone wearing such heavy coats in May! In Kansas City we're already in shorts and hoping the air-conditioning holds up through the night. A neat festival, it would be nice to get a little tour of such a charming town.
Wonderful! Absolutely loved this video! Yes, I would have spent quite a bit on the jams, honey, and bottled brew, so nicely presented... And all the more special if you're from there, how grand is that!! :-)
Soooo loved this vid as well... thanks for sharing your birthplace and festival info. Wish you could KNOW just how MUCH these types of videos mean to so many people like myself that are unable to experience in person. May the universe bless you greatly. From the states THANK YOU.
Thank you. I do often have doubts about making these videos and putting them up and I get grouchy when I'm fighting with the laptop or sitting hunched over it, editing in a darkened room on a sunny day - but then I get lovely comments such as yours and it reminds me that I should continue!
I was just thinking, while viewing, that maybe we could get to see the interior of the working boat and Voilà there it was. Thanks for the peek inside.
What fun! Very informative, as per usual. Loved that you stopped long enough on signs so one can read, altho I do stop vlog anywho. Looked like a splendid day and I felt as if I were there seeing all the tents and so forth! Thanks again!
Loved it, I've always liked small towns and any Festivals they may hold. You sir are a natural showman, you leave your Audience wanting more. I find myself,Wishing this was a longer V'log was longer
David, what a wonderful video, thank you thank you. The crafts that people sell look so inviting. I was glad to see that what looked like a dreary day turned out to be at least partly sunny. Second video in less than a week where I get to drink my first cup of coffee of the day and watch a new video you’ve posted. What a treat, you’re spoiling me.
What a lovely festival. Just my size. Not a fan of big ,noisy, crowded events. I rather like to hear the person I'm talking to . Very similar to our country fairs, with homemade goods and small artisans, food and helpful charities. Beautiful venue, if a bit chilly, still green and colorful. Well done. Thank you David.
I love all the Vlogs but these types are my favorites. You do a great job narrating and showing all the sights and sounds. Makes me want to be there ;-). Thank you.
Whilst I agree with Goonie I had hoped to see some of the cars that you mentioned were part of this festival. I am disappointed by their absence but I have still given you a 'like', albeit slightly grudgingly this time.
Thank you for sharing this vlog. I was at the festival on Bank holiday Monday as well and I really enjoyed wandering around the boats and sampling some of the very delicious produce on sale.
Absolutely lovely! That selection of craft ciders did indeed look oh so tempting. Had I been there, I probably would have just bought one of each and had a tasting party with any friends who cared to join me.
Your vlog was an unexpected respite while I gazed out from our motorhome at a lake with a shoreline encrusted with dinosaur tracks located in the high planes of eastern New Mexico. Thank you!
Short but HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT CONTENT. I can't call this a 'bonus'; it includes a narrow boat on the National Register. It seems to me that this is at the heart of the Vlogs. The whole thing was a treat to see. I grew up along the Erie Canal, running 'from Albany to Buffalo' in the words of a canal boat song. The canal connected the navigable Hudson River to Lake Erie in the west at Buffalo. Long neglected in terms of 'heritage', Palmyra New York has in recent decades revitalized canalside buildings and hosted 'Canal Days.' One of my mother's grandfathers had a small factory along the canal in Palmyra.
I am really enjoying your videos. I traveled across the US for a year in my RV before settling in Maine. Watching your travels brings back a lot of my own memories.
Thanx for the tour of the festival. i enjoy these vtews of the cuture that surrounds the canal. I hope you found a good cheese sandwich and a nice cup of tea.
Thank you David for review of the festival. Looked like a good time. These small festivals are generally more fun than the big ones because everyone is more relaxed and not in a hurry. Have a great weekend.
Love the boatman's cabins. Great memories of hire boats with them in my youth - both as hirer and employee! While it's inconceivable that whole families would fit into those spaces, they were ingenious for their use of space.
That was delightful! Thank you so much for posting this. What a pretty town. Loved seeing the historic boat and all the traders. Those delicious-looking jams have made me hungry. Off for a cuppa and a piece of toast.
Nr.174✓ The Tourist Board should pay you commission. Never in a million years, without your personal involvement, would I ever be enticed to pay the St.Richard's Festival/ Droitwich a visit but now... it's become a place of interest that I simply have to check out and take part of. Short and sweet. What was it...the Jam Butty? Simply a Must.
We have been following your travels for some time and really enjoy the Vlogs; so how cool to see our first boat, Arthur Owl, based in Droitwich Spa Marina, featured as the boat on the move (2:45 into the Vlog). Cafwin Cruises Narrowboat Holidays.
That workboat was a beautiful piece of history! you'll have to take up fancy painting and do up your boat like that? and you keep showing places that end up on my list of must visit places, so you're doing a good job for UK tourism!
Thanks David another great vlog I pick out my three selections of jam and the chutney but a bit to far from Sydney Australia to buy them happy boating cheers Barry
Nice to see the PM2, she looks amazing. Thanks for sharing and getting us a glance at her. Maybe a follow up tour as time permits to see her completed.
Canal hunter (andy tidy) is the owner of the jam butty, I don't know how much he makes from selling jam but he contributes ten times that to canal history through the canal hunter channel.
These kind of markets always just make me feel anxious because people never seem to be buying anything and i feel for the stall holders who went to so much trouble.
Memories memories, we opened a new pub in Droitwich in December 1983, "The Pillar of salt" Named after John Corbett who made his fortune from the local salt wells. He built the Chateau Impney for his French wife, and it now is an imposing hotel on the A38 approach to Droitwich. After a short while we moved to "The Talbot" at Chaddesley Corbett, all tied up i reckon. Whilst we were at Droitwich the canal was in water but derelict. I think we may have to pay a visit by boat soon. Thanks for your review.
Hi David Watching this particular vlog of your own home town I was very shocked to see the narrowboat "Swift" in the show as where I live now is Yarwood close Northwich Cheshire and this is where the boat was built, yes I live right by the Weaver river and the Yarwoods boat yard was where I now live and have done for the past 22 years. There use to be an old sea cadets ship moored by here for some years and the guy who owned it was William Buckley of whom I use to work with on the railways. Small world isn't it? Take care.
Just relocated our new (to us) and first boat to Droitwich yesterday, so looking forward to attending this next year if we're still around. Having learnt lots from your videos in the past year, we didn't realise it was your old stomping ground!
We can never be bored in this country! Every corner there is a gem waiting to be explored!

Your footprints as a young lad are still there! Go stand in them and smile...you’ve touched the whole world!
Thanks.
Once again, through your vlog, we see a part of Britain that rarely, if ever, is seen on mainstream media. Regular folk living their lives. Wonderful.
...and a good time was had by all.
David, you spoil us, but we do appreciate it. Thankyou!
That was awesome, I can't imagine living on a narrow boat that small. I'm glad people preserve bits of history like that.
Thanks David.
I originally watched your channel because I was interested in boats and your dry wit always put a smile on my face - priceless. These days I watch it as an antidote to everything else I see happening... thanks for making such a wonderful channel!
Thank you :-)
It lovely to see Pamela May two complete and the old boatmans cabin
I'm amazed to see everyone wearing such heavy coats in May! In Kansas City we're already in shorts and hoping the air-conditioning holds up through the night.
A neat festival, it would be nice to get a little tour of such a charming town.
Cheers. I don't tend to do tours on this channel as it's specifically about canals and narrowboats rather than a general UK tourism channel.
Wonderful! Absolutely loved this video! Yes, I would have spent quite a bit on the jams, honey, and bottled brew, so nicely presented...

@@CruisingTheCut lol, just do it as you enjoy it on your own terms please.. no need to suffer for us. Cheers.
YES! What fun I imagine. Thank you for taking us along.
I was just thinking, while viewing, that maybe we could get to see the interior of the working boat and Voilà there it was. Thanks for the peek inside.
Small town with a big show and an even bigger heart.
If all the towns in the U.K. were like this, what a wonderful world we would have.
Thanks again.
The paint job on the boat at 2:50 was stunning, a nice little vlog, thanks. for sharing.
I love a small fair or festival in small towns like this... Always so much character and such a wonderfully casual and communal feel to them. :)
Looks fun! The vessel at the end looked as though it came through a lock from the past! A 10 in my books very well done.
What fun! Very informative, as per usual. Loved that you stopped long enough on signs so one can read, altho I do stop vlog anywho. Looked like a splendid day and I felt as if I were there seeing all the tents and so forth! Thanks again!

lots to see and do there.
Thank you for posting this! Great bit of respite from a hellish week and a lovely way to start my day. Hope you are doing well, David.

Very cute & quaint, lovely little vlog. Love the heritage boat; believe it or not my nan was one of 8 kids born/raised on an old working boat 👍
Eight?!! Yikes
Your vlog was an unexpected respite while I gazed out from our motorhome at a lake with a shoreline encrusted with dinosaur tracks located in the high planes of eastern New Mexico. Thank you!
That sounds great!
That was fun! I feel like I got all the highlights without any of the walking! The historic boats are so intriguing. Thanks!

Great to see the heritage working boat. It's so important to remember and be able to see and experience history.
That looks like a great festival. The Swift is a nice looking working vessel!
Thank you for sharing part of your history, David.
Thanks David, nice to be able to visit the festival even if it's only through the lens of your camera. Great job.
You just made my day with that greyhound rescue feature.
That traditional boatman's cabin looked really nice and cosy but I wouldn't want to be more than two people in it.
Great Bonus this morning - Thanks! Really enjoyed the historical boat.
Thanx for the tour of the festival. i enjoy these vtews of the cuture that surrounds the canal. I hope you found a good cheese sandwich and a nice cup of tea.
Always!
Fantastic decoration on those boats dave, cheers for showing us the fair.
Thank you David for review of the festival. Looked like a good time. These small festivals are generally more fun than the big ones because everyone is more relaxed and not in a hurry. Have a great weekend.
That was fantastic. Thanks ever so much for sharing this one.
Love the boatman's cabins. Great memories of hire boats with them in my youth - both as hirer and employee! While it's inconceivable that whole families would fit into those spaces, they were ingenious for their use of space.
But amazingly they did!!
Thanks for sharing. It must have been fun for all there.
I love these small town festivals! Must be a really cute town to grow up in.
That was a fantastic festival. I loved the idea of the glass jewellery. It was nice to see a traditional older boat beautiful paint work. X
That was delightful! Thank you so much for posting this.
What a pretty town. Loved seeing the historic boat and all the traders. Those delicious-looking jams have made me hungry. Off for a cuppa and a piece of toast.
Wonderful video! Music very much complimented what looked to be a wonderful day on the canal! Beautiful home town!
What fun David. Thank you for sharing the local flair and history.

Very nice video David. Thanks so muck, Chris
Thank you for taking the time out from your time with the family to share that.

Very nice! Thanks for the glimpse of your birthplace!
Thank you, David.
Great nice to see other aspects of canal life, expertly presented as always, made my breakfast watch very entertaining.thanks from Michigan USA
Pamela May 2 looks great! Also Swift is very interesting.
I first saw narrow boats when I visited England in the mid 1990s. I’m thoroughly enjoying your vlogs!

Very nice, looks like fun! It is festival season here in America also! We have festivals for everything! Thanks for sharing!
An absolutely lovely video! Its quite amazing to think of a whole family squeezed into the tiny living space on the working boats!
Canal hunter (andy tidy) is the owner of the jam butty, I don't know how much he makes from selling jam but he contributes ten times that to canal history through the canal hunter channel.
The festival looked fun and interesting.
Wish I could have been there.
Thanks for the thorough look-around.
Cheers

Oh wish we had narrowboats and special canals :D
And i do love festivals.
Greetings,, Kitty.
This was the video I wanted about the Pamela May 2. Thank you great Video again
Excellent vlog David, you do make watching narrow boat vlogs interesting. Keep up the great videos and I'll keep watching and learning. 👍
Brilliant :D The weather is just perfect for this at the moment!
Fascinating look at a world I likely will never see in person. Thanks!
These kind of markets always just make me feel anxious because people never seem to be buying anything and i feel for the stall holders who went to so much trouble.
I like the whirlybird vent, we use them on our houses and sheds. They really help exhaust hot air when it gets warm.
Lovely place. I have umpired cricket there. Nice place, nice people, lovely place to visit and shop
You captured a lovely atmosphere there.

we completely enjoyed this fine presentation. we would have loved to attend the festival thats our cup of tea . cheers : ]
Very enjoyable vlog like seeing the different festivals.
Lovely boats. And wonderful craft booths. I enjoy the craft fairs in my area, too. But no lovely canals with beautiful boats. 😔
Amazing thanks for this video
