Thank you Kara for sharing the imperfections from your BuJo too - I really needed this since I felt guilty for skipping days and not filling in my habit tracker or my gratitude log. I felt like I was going to give it up until I watched this video. I need to be less perfectionist and also embrace positivity from everywhere. My BuJo is one of the thing which makes me happy so I should keep doing even if it's not perfect. Thank you very much for this amazing, kind reminder! x Davie

Although it's not a bullet journal, I am working towards that. I'm having a hard time moving out of a life planner because of the fact that they are all filled in, but I just LOVE your styling and doodles. Thank you for this video!! :)
I was thinking about what you said about blank pages and not keeping up with your journaling....and it definitely happens to me but it seems that the journaling/tracking/planning is so great to get goals planned and started.... but when you get to the thick of the goal...then the planning/tracking gets less but I think that is the point in a way...to accomplish the goal....then you will get back to tracking and planning for another mountain to climb ....just a thought....probably what you are saying...I think next time as my goal starts to take more time I will try to be more mindful of that and perhaps the journaling/tracking needs to be different at least for me this video has been great for me to see that some tracking is good for planning and I need another tracking when the rubber is meeting the road! I'm absolutely your opinion, that we should Embrace Imperfection. I write a Blog (only in German) and there I have an article about Embrace Imperfection because we as a human being always have the claim doing things perfectly and never go wrong with something. And this can be really really exhausting and stressful. I don't like this feeling. So I'm learning to push this feeling away while doing my Hobby filofaxing and Journaling. And it feels so much better. 💪🏼

Thanks Kaylee! Perfectionism can be SUCH a tough thing to overcome. Especially with all of the highly edited Instagram accounts, etc. out there. I hope that by showing the messy imperfections in my own Bullet Journal, that it will help more people :)

I was so excited to watch this video! I love using my bullet journal, some days I don't write anything and others I have so many ideas and tasks to achieve. That's what I love about it!

I've been wanting a pen pal for some time now but don't know how to go about finding one. All I've found were "email pen pals" which defeats the purpose of a PEN pal. If anyone has any references please let me know! It would be very much appreciated!

Great lesson on imperfection, Kara. During today's Miracle Morning reading, I was reminded that we can't have good days without bad days, and we can't have perfection without imperfection. That is the balance of life, and we should embrace it all!

Love your transparency about imperfections! Sometimes I find myself getting discouraged and wanting to give up because I missed a day, but you have been SO encouraging about not giving up. Thank you for the inspiration! Your videos are actually what motivated me start a BuJo and get organized! Did you ever plan on going more in-depth with the recurring tasks pages (Monthly, Weekly, Daily tasks)? Looking forward to more of your videos!
The fact that you've fallen off the wagon a couple of times and yet you still have such a beautiful way of planning your life really inspires me to give this a go. I don't want to indulge in the Perfectionists Myth: It has to be perfect before I start. In truth, we have to have "something" to perfect in the first place!

YAY! So glad to see this! Live and Learn indeed! Blank pages, incomplete spreads, it happens to all of us. When I have blank pages, or blank spaces, I use them for quotes, or mini collections, or even like you said, DOODLING! :)
I also love what you said at the end! There are moments and events that take precedence over logging what we did. And yes, blank space means we were in those moments. Well said!

Loved it! It really helped to hear your thoughts on missing entries/pages and being kind to yourself regarding those. I think there's really a lot to that when we give up on getting organized. It's typically because we didn't perfectly use the tool. That's what I love about the Bullet Journal...it's flexible enough to use it in so many ways...and is kind enough to forgive the missing pages, mistakes, etc.
I love your sharing this journal, I especially love your comments at the end of the video about imperfections. I am a horrible planner and am looking at bullet journaling as a method I hope works for. Your inclusion of the imperfections made me feel much better, the blank pages are not a negative, the are positive memories. As an artist, I presume much of myself, that my writing should be 'this' way, or my doodles should look like 'that; all the while disregarding the fact that I haven't practiced either! Seeing the progression of both in your journal, and. Your wonderful attitude with imperfections lightens that critical voice in my head! Thank you!

With the "Couch to 5K" pages that you set up in advance and didn't end up using, how would you have worked it if you had continued - just log it as you did it, with other content coming in between? You would have needed to do dailies and trackers, etc. in the midst of those weeks. Just wondering how you handle arranging those things (I always used a 3-ring binder (I did my own version of this system for years), so I could rearrange the pages as needed. Thanks!

I really love this video for tons of reason but mostly because you've demonstrated so beautifully what it means to be a unique individual. I've just reached my one year mark in my bullet journal journey. I've watched lots of videos and researched lots of ways to keep a bullet journal. For so long I focused on trying to make it perfect and beautiful like everyone else but realized after much trial and error that it has to work for me and no one else. I'm a writer not an artist so I've created a form of bullet journaling that works for me. There are mistakes, scratch throughs, uneven lines and botched doodles. But it is a personal expression of my life and work which is, in my mind, what it should be. One's life should be as unique as the individual and should be celebrated flaws and all. Best wishes!!!

I think for people who struggle with imperfection *cough cough* the bullet journal is a great remedy. As you mentioned, I'm learning that it actually represents my life, things change, things go perfect, things get forgotten but it's real.

How do you keep the motivation going to update your journal everyday? I've tried using planner etc before and I end up just forgetting about it or not following what I have written. But I really want to try this as September will be the start of my final Uni year and I want to keep on top of everything.

Thanks for sharing. It's such a beautiful journal, especially with the imperfections. Blank pages and all. I definitely need to sit down with my daughter and show her this. As a newcomer it's daunting to see all these beautiful perfect journals and think of all the dedication that went into making them. Hi Jordan! I think the best thing you can do to get started is to check out the www.bulletjournal.com website. Start as simply as you can and then expand from there once you get the hang of the system :)

When u finish a notebook do u keep it? If so, where do u store them. Do u keep notebooks that have been repurposed a bunch of times?
I wonder how other's store their old notebooks. I keep mine in a Rubbermaid box to protect against water damage and box bugs.

I've come to accept that being insanely busy is what we plan and hope for in business, which is a blessing.
Oh absolutely! It's a great feeling but a little overwhelming at times as well. Now it's time to start finding balance :)
