This is the kind of video I've been begging for! Just Kush and a normal, where he gets to teach without being interrupted. This is where he really shines. More please! (Also excited to see Kush and Mike's dynamic, they haven't been paired together much.)

More Masterclass with Kush. I know there are a million and a half "cook like a chef" channels, videos, and content but the way this was presented with a normal and doing the control and expert level just seemed so much more accessible.
I agree. I truly enjoyed the explanation behind the choices and it’s down to earth and completely doable at home. No hour-long extra prep etc., just simple and small alterations to transform a dish into something amazing.
Just want to say how terrific Mike is at presenting these “Normal’s Guides”: he brings an enthusiasm and a level of knowledge that makes these videos extremely accessible. Bravo, sir!
I know I'm not trippin wtf is with the fake smoke? His hand is invisible to the smoke? It doesn't go around his hand but right through it? wtf am I watching? I thought I liked this channel but this is next level...

4:24 You can tell Kush really wants Mike to taste, feel and see the differences for himself. He's such a good teacher! Patient, humourous, gently encouraging Mike to experience the little tweaks he is introducing at every level. And through Mike, it feels like even we as the viewers get to experience it. Kush manages to strike the perfect balance between being engaging and informative while also encouraging both Mike and the viewers to really understand the reasoning behind his techniques. And Mike is so eager, open and appreciative of the chance to learn, it pulls the viewer in, too! Would love for this to become a series- Masterclasses with Kush just deep-diving into culinary techniques.
Yeeeeessss! I love the down to earth-ness. It’s all genuine. Not that I don’t absolutely love Baz and Spaff, but the lack of pretentiousness and dad jokes is perfect for this type of content! I, 100% loved this video! Thanks ❤

Just wanted to let whatever team member who goes through these comments know that Sorted has been life changing for me. Im autistic, and with that cones many food aversions and fears, but this channel has made food so accessible and so much less scary for me, i can now go into a restaurant and order food that ive never had before because ive watched these videos and seen the processes that go into cooking these things. This video really exemplifies that! Please never stop doing what you're doing guys, because even on a small scale you are changing lives
Sorted do some solid mental health work! They’ve helped me massively with motivation to cook when I’m having an episode, and I’m also thinking back to the Pass It On with Emma Thompson and her daughter Gaia, when Gaia said that watching Sorted helped her through her eating disorder. There’s something very comforting about friends who are kind and unselfconscious, sharing their understanding (or lack of) of food, and just being good, honest humans. ETA: to be clear, I know that autism isn’t a mental illness and certainly don’t mean to imply that it is. When I refer to the way they help people I mean the anxiety that can come with certain tasks and situations for autistic people 😊
I think that is wonderful for you and lovely to tell everyone about it. 🥰Love how confident it’s made you about trying new foods and I am sure the guys at Sorted will be happy to know this too. Sorted has been a bonding experience for me and my son as we watch it together and it gets him off the gaming ! He is a foodie too which helps! 😁
I know I'm not trippin wtf is with the fake smoke? His hand is invisible to the smoke? It doesn't go around his hand but right through it? wtf am I watching? I thought I liked this channel but this is next level...
Petition for more kinds of videos like this with kush and whole cast. This teaching style format really allows everyone to take each little detail and understand why “salt” here as opposed to “there” . The subtle nuances as kush pointed out and having Mike tasted them really shows that a little understanding goes massive
These masterclasses, especially about seasoning, need to be a recurring series. I didn't realize how easy it is to elevate the flavor of dishes simply by adding seasoning at different steps of the cooking process. This is tremendously helpful! I would love more Basic vs Intermediate vs Expert dishes
I could watch a Kush masterclass every week! Have him go through all the badges the normal were fighting for. And show us how he would tackle them. Such teaching skills as well. He makes us “home normals” think we understands the things he’s trying to teach.
Three words: *More Kush Please* ! This was a great vid, and Kush is an amazing teacher, clear and concise. Please make these masterclasses a regular series on your already-outstanding channel!
Kush and Mike are a great teaching/learning duo. I don't feel like we see them paired together a ton, but maybe that's just my memory! I genuinely believe Kush could teach children with how understandable and engaging he is, and really helping Mike (and us!) to understand the concepts he's presenting. I love love love the chaos and madness that comes with a lot of the challenges etc. on the channel, but this style of more toned down teaching with Kush is right up there with my favorites.
Indeed, because Mike plays the "to dumb to cook" card we all own to some degree, and Kush adds in the patience and the love to show and teach. I truly often see myself in Mike, who is the OG "I'm trying, yet still not have any idea where this is going" normal guy. While Jamie and Bas have already their way to go.
Kush would make for an excellent instructor in my opinion. He's not just telling you what he's using and just showing the technique he's working with, he's explaining the whole process AND why he's doing it that way as he goes.
"There's nothing wrong with salt and pepper on the table." Amen!! I love Kush. I always try for just under season because everyone's palate is different. Great video!
Not gonna lie, I started watching this just because I saw Kush in there. While watching, I realized how well Kush and Michael go together. Kush is such a good teacher, and Mike is such a fantastic … sponge - especially when he's on his own. He's such a good host when he can be a bit more relaxed. Possibly my new favorite pairing, these two.
I could watch Kush burn down my house, as long as he's talking when he's doing it I will just follow along and have a whale of a time. Once again, his love and passion for food warms me! Knife skills with Kush next please!
Kush would really teach you how to burn your house down - let you have a go - so you really feel empowered to try and burn the house down yourself next time
I Just love the variety on this channel. .. We get the laughs.. we get interviews... we get recipes...and we get teaching sessions .and I really appreciate that Kush isn't just telling me to add seasoning...he explains WHY I need this particular seasoning and WHY I am adding it at this stage.
Honestly, sorted have basically taught me how to cook, but since Kush joined the on camera team, I feel like my cookings just gone to another level, what a guy
As much as I love Jamie and Kush's dynamic, this is perfect for this format. Kush is a great teacher, and among the normals Mike's always been far and away the best. Partially due to his background, partially because he has such a drive to learn, but also probably in part because of self confidence issues helping him remember all the sticking points and roadblocks for a new people. Since he still seems to worry about messing up the basics no matter how many times he gets them right. Jamie's great too but is confident in his areas of expertise and is therefore sometimes forgetful. And I think Mike is less confident in his ability to blink than Barry is about doing anything he's vaguely heard of before.
This is exactly what home cooks need to bring their dishes to the next level. The simple science of blending and elevating flavors explained in an accessible way just makes this video a joy to watch. Can this be a small series? I'm getting better but I used to always fall into the pit of trying to create flavor by adding a bunch of spices at any old time and hoping it worked in the end.
The way Kush teaches gives me the same feelings from when Bob Ross talked when doing art. Calm and educational in a very engaging fashion. Mike being there to ask questions from a normal's perspective is also great!
Mike and kush dynamic is really great. You've got kush as a teacher in the kitchen and Mike professionally interviewing and videos shared. Glad that they're both doing this together and doing these basic lessons are well worth teaching and learning. Would like to see more of these and a other vids seen so far. Thanks everything you do sorted team.
Yes, yes, yes! More of this content please. Usually you guys are racing the clock and, while that is entertaining, it isn't educational like this was. Kush is a great teacher. 🎉
i personaly hate coocking food, as a long distance trucker i dont get much time at home so i dont like to waste it on coocking. but these types of videos makes me wanna try and do more out of it on the weekends when i have the time! Love Kush's teaching style nice and easy to follow even for someone whos first language isent English (mines Norwegian) keep these videos comming :D
It is great to have a more educational video like this. Fee like I’ve been missing this type of content. I love the other stuff but the more educational are especially useful. Also, Mike is such a good interviewer/presenter. He is so good in things like this and leading interviews in the pod
This needs to be a series. Kush is a patient natural teacher who encourages the normal to learn by doing (touching, tasting, ...) instead of barking out instructions.
I just want to add to the onslaught of comments here to reiterate: This was a phenomenal video!! The gadgets, pretentious ingredients, food trends, and chaotic videos are fun and entertaining, but this video is exactly why so many of us stayed with you all for so many years. Cheers to Kush, Mike and the whole team for this!
Kush brings professionalism and a supportive teaching style. This video taught me more then all of the chaos videos. Mike provides a lovely balanced normal vibe.
I'm 22 years old and I've been living out of home for about ~4 years now. I absolutely adore cooking, it's extraordinarily rewarding and I find the whole process quite meditative. I'm quite lucky in the sense that my family shares my love for food, so I've always been exposed to good cooking and food conscious folks and I've definitely adopted their love language of feeding those you care about. 90% of what I've learned in terms of cooking has been from the content you guys produce at SortedFood, it feels sooo cool being able to have access to such a wealth of knowledge from a bunch of folks who just love food. So thank you team! Also, I would absolutely love a video/videos aimed towards students who are actively studying and juggling 2-3 jobs and paying rent at ridiculously high prices and are getting bullied by supermarket prices! Keep it up legends
Seeing him being such a calm and collected teacher to Mike is exactly the content I want to see! But also it just makes me now realize that I now need the exact opposite and since, as a new father, he will have to be prepared for teaching a distractible toddler how to cook I think it would be only right to tell Barry and Jamie to not take the ADHD medications that they must be on for one day and have Kush try to teach them as they wander off and get distracted by random things. As a former teaching assistant for a toddler cooking class this would be very satisfying 😂
10000% here for Masterclass with Kush. Love to have one comparing the qualities of different types of fats (butter v olive oil v tallow, lard, duck fat etc.)
I don't normally comment on videos, but felt this was needed. I spent 18.5 years (stupid medical issues) in the Army as a Cook. I am still learning new stuff even after all that time, and this just gave me even more information and ideas. Thank you to Kush and Mike for the easy to understand way of putting things and for making it so people, myself included, can improve their dishes at home.
I watcha bunch of cooking channels, but nowhere have I seen these "basics" explained so well as today. The way Kush brought it made someone from a class lower then "normal" go oooooh, that's why a bunch of times. Thanks!
Yes!!! This is the series I‘m excited about! I will probably watch this video a few times and make notes. The „normal vs. pro“ comparison reminds me of ItaliaSquisitas cookbook „Original & Gourmet“. To be honest, if you expanded on this, a masterclass video series filled with Kush‘s immense knowledge to tap into, and some recipes to cook along, I‘d be more than happy to pay for it.
This is fantastic! Please do more of these educational episodes. Knowing why you do things is so helpful when you are just cooking something rather than following a recipe
I’d pay for this kind of content (particularly if I could be Mike!) The fact that you’re giving this kind of quality to us for free is why I blummin’ love Sorted!
Excellent. I really appreciated how you were able to taste side by side during the recipe and not just at the end. Mike and Kush are a great team. Mike is a talented interviewer. Do more please.
This is what I love about being a chef, wish more of us would pay attention to things like this, despite my 16 years in the kitchen, I LEARN EVERY DAY, whether its a small thing like tempering spices or just cooking a duck breast in a better way, Thank you Sorted!!🇿🇦
Absolutely fantastic video. Real pleasure to watch Kush uninterrupted just doing his thing. Loved how much he explained everything and I am now left wanting just way more of this with him and Mike. Thanks, guys!
Really enjoyed this video. Not only is Kush a brilliant chef and teacher, but it wasn’t interrupted by adverts. If all of the videos had this style, without constantly breaking to push the app or the latest live event it would be brilliant!
this is everything I ever wanted: teaching Kush! so much knowledge and expertise imparted in an easy to understand and follow way. I love it! he's so interested in his student/viewers getting something out of it and really bringing Mike into it for him to gather his own experiences. can't wait for the next class! :)
Fantastic video and as many others have pointed out, a series of these 'basic' cooking techniques would be very appreciated by the community. Kush has a way of explaining the method but also the reasoning behind it but you can also see he WANTS people to improve. Roll out the Sorted Culinary School!
My favorite type of videos since Kush started appearing on camera are the ones where he can put on his professor's jacket and just spew knowledge and genius to the camera.
One of the wonderful things Kush is teaching is that you don't need exotic ingredients to make a leveled up dish. We have these ingredients in our pantry we just didn't know how to use them. Love learning new things.
This really is Sorted at its very best. Thank you Kush. I would like to see Kush prepare a vegetarian meal with non-pretentious ingredients. Send him off to Aldi with £10, and challenge him to prepare a meal that Jamie loves.
I studied every second of this video. Coming from a childhood of mostly TV dinners, I am still learning so much as an adult. It's very daunting. This was so accessible and kind. I would take a million more masterclasses with Kush!
Absolutely would love more of this format. All your formats that focus on providing knowledge about different aspects of food are my favorites. And Kush explained really well. I actually feel like I can apply this knowledge.
This is an excellent video. Mike is absorbing what Kush says, but he is asking the questions we need to know. Excellent pairing and fascinating video. I always wondered how even simple things taste better in a good resturant.
loved it. I would watch an entire series of stuff like this. I love the pass it ons and pretentious ingredients and stuff that entertains BUT videos like this as well as Sidekick just makes me a better all around cook Thank you
TEMPERATURE! Whether a meat or a cake, i sometimes end up with something undercooked or overcooked, or the worst, undercooked inside and overcooked outside. Please show us the way, Kush sensei !
Thank you Kush and the whole Sorted team. Ben is great at bringing a comedy aspect with some education. Kush brings the element of the family member coming over to cook with you.
Kush is such a great teacher, I love his energy, tone, the way he encourages, lifts up and doesn't put down and so much more. It's such a delight to watch. Kush and Mike pair for this really really well because Mike seems curious and eager to learn Thank you for this!
bringing Kush on really is one of the best additions to the channel. Ben and James are good and all but Kush just has that extra bit of background and experience they dont have and is able to bring that to the channel to help finish rounding out and heightening the knowledge pool of the group. the only thing really missing now (because the normals have actually been cooking and learning for so long) is a "sub-normal" cook. someone without the years of practice and learning from pro chefs and is fairly fresh in a kitchen.
Kush is a superb teacher. I've always done a few of the things he's suggested eg. Salt to onions/shallots but I never understood the reason why I'm doing it, except that it tastes good. Thank you.
Excellent. I like the fun & games - but really do enjoy these masterclasses/lessons.Both Ben & Kush do them well & in a fashion that's relatable for most home cooks. Would love to see more of them over time. I'll admit to being averse to salt, especially when I was younger. I rarely added it when cooking. I do use it now, but still find many chefs over-salt for my tastes. 🧂
I love that are we getting Kush/Mike duo teaching us basic rules and recipies, Mike always shines while passing the knowledge and i can listen to Kush talking about food for hours on end

We need this to be a series PLEASE
I love videos like this! There is just something about listening to an expert teach their passion that is so enjoyable.
Kush should do a teaching series, I'd actually pay for a course. So easy to understand and follow.
Absolutely loved this. More Kush Masterclasses !!!!!
I watcha bunch of cooking channels, but nowhere have I seen these "basics" explained so well as today. The way Kush brought it made someone from a class lower then "normal" go oooooh, that's why a bunch of times. Thanks!
Love Kush's teaching voice and attitude.
First video in a long time I’m actually watching it without distracting myself or skipping parts of it!
I could watch Kush cooking all day long! I want to learn everything!
Excellent. I really appreciated how you were able to taste side by side during the recipe and not just at the end. Mike and Kush are a great team. Mike is a talented interviewer. Do more please.
This is what I love about being a chef, wish more of us would pay attention to things like this, despite my 16 years in the kitchen, I LEARN EVERY DAY, whether its a small thing like tempering spices or just cooking a duck breast in a better way,
Thank you Sorted!!🇿🇦
Absolutely fantastic video. Real pleasure to watch Kush uninterrupted just doing his thing. Loved how much he explained everything and I am now left wanting just way more of this with him and Mike. Thanks, guys!
Its Great to see Kush, being the Teacher. He shows
Really enjoyed this video.
I watch every Sorted vid but this has been the one that has changed my ideas about cooking the most in a long time. More of this please!
Fantastic video and as many others have pointed out, a series of these 'basic' cooking techniques would be very appreciated by the community. Kush has a way of explaining the method but also the reasoning behind it but you can also see he WANTS people to improve. Roll out the Sorted Culinary School!
Amazing! More Kush masterclasses please!
This is a much slower paced video, i quite like it! I would love to see Kush explain how to cook expensive meats properly!
Love this! My wife and I are fully absorbing this episode! Any tips from Kush are awesome!
This really is Sorted at its very best. Thank you
Kush.
I would like to see
Kush prepare a vegetarian meal with non-pretentious ingredients.
LOVE this! More Kush master class please - any hacks, his ‘go-to’ recipes, knife skills, flavour combinations ❤
Really great format! I learned a lot and Kush really is an amazing teacher. Would love for this to become a series!
I LOVE when Kush gets into techniques and levels and engages with us in that way. He's brilliant. I loved this vid.
This is an excellent video. Mike is absorbing what Kush says, but he is asking the questions we need to know. Excellent pairing and fascinating video. I always wondered how even simple things taste better in a good resturant.
More Please, as a Culinary Graduate, I thoroughly enjoyed that !
loved it. I would watch an entire series of stuff like this. I love the pass it ons and pretentious ingredients and stuff that entertains BUT videos like this as well as Sidekick just makes me a better all around cook
Thank you
YES YES YES!!! More master classes. This was Awesome!!!!!!!
TEMPERATURE! Whether a meat or a cake, i sometimes end up with something undercooked or overcooked, or the worst, undercooked inside and overcooked outside. Please show us the way, Kush sensei !
I would buy a cookbook written by Kush, This is something the world needs
What a lovely and informative video. Well done, chaps.
So glad you enjoyed it 😊
Thank you Kush and the whole Sorted team. Ben is great at bringing a comedy aspect with some education. Kush brings the element of the family member coming over to cook with you.
More please!!! I love watching and listening to Kush teach!
Kush is such a great teacher, I love his energy, tone, the way he encourages, lifts up and doesn't put down and so much more.
It's such a delight to watch.
Kush and Mike pair for this really really well because Mike seems curious and eager to learn
Thank you for this!
bringing Kush on really is one of the best additions to the channel.
Mike's tasting notes never fail to help me picture what the dishes taste like! Love it!
Kush is a superb teacher.
I've always done a few of the things he's suggested eg. Salt to onions/shallots but I never understood the reason why I'm doing it, except that it tastes good. Thank you.
Please have more masterclasses with Kush. I learnt so much from this video.
