This reminds me of the old classic mets trying to find an outfielder and a first baseman at the same time. so they sign a bunch of people that are just utility players. rather than actually signing somebody that plays the position and just spending the money to keep your home grown Guy.
Lmao strategic, not!!! Don’t be surprised dodgers swing a trade for guerrero, muncy contract is done after 2025, freeman 2026, they need infield corner they have lots to offer Toronto

Im 100% with you on the Dodgers. I been saying the same since the Yamamoto signing. They broke baseball with this dynasty and more fans will start noticing when they see the Dodgers in the next 3 World Series.
Last year the Yankees had a chance to sign Blake Snell. They made it to the world series with one of the worst pitching staffs of all time. Blake snell would have made that pitching staff better. Now the Dodgers have Snell. The Mets are doing the same thing the yankees did. Not signing guys and allowing them to go to the competition. By the mets not signing alonso it allows the Blue Jays to get him and by getting him they may compete this year and not want to trade guerrero. The Mets wont win this year. Maybe not even next year. The Dodgers are just more aggressive. The mets had a chance but have blown it. Its over for them. 3 weeks ago we were talking about them getting Alonso, Bregman, Sasaki and a few other guys. Now we are talking about trading for Profar and possibly adding a case of gatorade and some chicken nuggets.
I like say before the Mets are still celebrating Soto Signing. Nothing has happened since then. They are counting on the bargains that they are getting from the basement.
Mets management stopped celebrating the Soto signing the day after the signing was official. Do you think that the Mets front office is like a bunch of fans?
Think two notes that should have been mentioned in the financial thread is the significant increase to Cohen’s net worth since buying the team and substantial revenue made in his other ventures this year alone. An important element to all this
I think in the next CBA you will see a limit on how much of a contract can be deferred, maybe 10-20%? Dodgers are playing within the rules yes, but now it’s just getting stupid.
@ please explain how the Mets are cheap. They literally spent 700-800 million on one player. 18 months ago offered Alonso 160 million dollars. Pete the clown 🤡 rejected it.
For all the Pete haters and Vlad lovers. Check these out. just for giggles go look at Pete’s post season numbers. In 16 games BA 300 / 5 Hr / 11 RBI / 1000 OPS / 430 OBS with 15 hits. Vlads post season numbers 6 games / BA .136 / 0 HR / 1 RBI / 240 OBS / 422 OPS. And just to make sure we got the facts Pete’s did all that in two postseason while vlads been to 3.
19:30 Also debt lowers the value of the organization. So even if they were trying to do it like this (they are not and I explain why in a previous post) It would just make the value of the team lower when they go to sell it. Instead of selling it for 6 billion they would have to sell it for 5 billion to cover the billion in deferments. The logic just makes no sense
Is Sterns a graduate from the University of Wilpons. Have 2/3 excellent player then fill in the rest with mostly 3rd tier players. This is bs. Profar instead of Santander who adds the power incasa Pete is gone
As a Chelsea supporter and a dodger fan (same owners) The Dodgers ownership believes it is more profitable to win at a high-level and therefore increase the international Fanbase and therefore the value of the franchise than it is to make profits annually. They expect their profits to come when they go to sell the club. For example look at the Warriors, the Warriors are the model the Dodgers organization follows. If you go back before the curry era the Warriors were considered an average value NBA team. They are now the highest valued NBA team and top three in the world for any sport. That’s because of the winning and how that winning brought in funds and lifelong fans globally. They are now is $7 billion franchise. Do you think they are upset about the $200 million they lost for a few years? when they increased their value by 4 billion? Of course they aren’t
I’m just looking forward to watching ‘day to day’ Mets baseball with Soto in our lineup. Yes, the Dodgers look to have built the best team in baseball…by a good margin. On paper - a super team. Grateful for not being a fan of one of the teams in their division.

@@THE_KERSHAW_KURSEthe dodgers puts a fork in soto signing by getting tanner scott to neutralize him lmao….dodgers playing chess while mets playing chinese checker
What is a possible solution for this deferred money issue? Making it a reverse of luxury tax is a deferred penalty counts all deferred money if you go over the total deferred money level penalties and draft picks.
Many comments here expressing frustration in Stearns after the Scott signing. These people dont even see the real problem which is the Dodgers and what Ohtani did. Get it together Met fans ffs.
That 549 mill revenue is from the 2023 season. They made an additional 150 million counting the money from Ohtani and winning the World Series in 2024. If you are going to call out Dodger fans at least do it with correct information
19:30 ugh the ignorance. You are not allowed to just pay deferments down the road. You have to put money in an investment fund and then the investment fund pays it down the road. For example the Dodgers pay 44 million a year into an investment fund. And then the investment fund will give Ohtani 68 mill 10 years later. By the time these contracts are up the Dodgers ownership will not owe a penny to any of these players. The investment funds that the Dodgers invested in will owe the money. The only reason why the Mets are forced to pay Bobby Bonilla every year is because the investment fund that they invested in collapsed (Madoff). By doing this the Dodgers save 60 million a year in luxury tax payments, that is their incentive. It’s not to kick a payment down the road to a new owner. A new owner that would have no obligation to pay any of the deferments.
I think Profar is more likely to play 3B and move Vientos to 1B. The homerism prevents Mets fans from seeing how truly terrible of a thirdbaseman Vientos is. -7 OAA, only 3 guys were worse at the position, and they had a two month head start on Mark. He's a hell of a hitter, but he's not a thirdbaseman. He's a 1B/DH only guy on a WINNER.
I remember he was a high prospect for Texas Rangers. If he can stay healthy he can hit . No more 2 seasons I would sign .I rather him play 1b and keep Vientos at 3rd .
Dodgers have been aggressive and smart over the last few years. Always in contention and always involved with big names. Meanwhile someone please tell Stearns he’s not with the brewers anymore. I don’t care what he did with the brewers, I care about now and he’s done absolutely nothing. What an awful off season thus far, I have zero hope we are winning 80 games next year. Our entire team is going to be worse next year with a mid rotation. SOTO going to realize he should have stayed with the Yankees.
Bad analysis - fact: Stearns put together an undeniable awesome first year. The current team going into 2025 is BETTER than last year. You said he did “nothing”? Signed Soto, Manea, Holmes, Minter…want to look at a team that has done nothing look at Blue Jays and stop making stuff up.
@@bena4072 resigning players is not an addition, nice try. Signing mid level or role players is not game changing. Signing SOTO was a Cohen move, not Stearns. The starting rotation is at best mid, there is no on there that is imposing, Senga had a chance in the playoffs and got rocked. We had a magical run last year, it's not going to happen two years in a row. Stearns has done NOTHING.
Mets have to go after Vlady this offseason more aggressively to keep in competition against Dodgers. pretty sure this is exactly why Mets and other teams are so passive on Alonso. I know he said he won’t start negotiation during season but having him next to Soto for 1 year would greatly helpful to keep him.
Sorry to bust your bubble but dodgers could swing a trade for vlad, they have pieces for him….freeman only has 2 yrs left, muncy 1, dodgers would need an infield corner soon, freeman could man 3rd base vlad at 1st. Believe me they are in prime position to trade for him compare to rest of the league
The main reason we lost against the dodgers was a lack of true ace. They are fully counting on Senga as ace n who knows if he will be healthy again n I don’t see him as a shut down ace. Not sure why Stern is a dumpster GM. They had opportunity with Crochet, Fried, Burns plus….didnt go fully with Tanner knowing Diaz is shaky n not fully reliable. They shopped n got a Lamborghini but then they parked that car n got 3 cars from junk yard n one from an auction wtf. To me Braves, Phillies, Dodgers, Diamondbacks are way ahead. The Mets are 5th among this group. No true ace, no big bat to protect Soto….lets hope we get lucky. We have 2 pitchers as projects to become a starter smh
Not a fan of Stearns tbh. You offer Pete 3yr 68M with no opt-outs? What if he has an amazing year? He won't be able to reset and try for more money? You're basically trying to screw the guy over. You're basically saying you don't want him and are making an offer he could easily refuse. At least offer an opt-out for crying out loud.
Ok thank you opinion that was a little off the Mets are taking off chances and not getting any rewards if they are overpaying and they deserve some type of respect
@@MetnycmanIf he has a terrible year then he'll stay with the same 68 million dollar contract they offered him. The Mets offered him no opt-outs so they are willing to take the chance on him having a terrible year. So again why not just give him an opt out?

The majority of this comment section is going to be pretty disappointed when we go into the season with Baty at 3rd and Vientos at first. Unless Alonso/Boras come to their senses and take the mets offer, I think the starting lineup is pretty much set
Let's just hope the Dodgers choke in one of the series in the playoffs. That's the great thing about baseball when a team like the new Evil Empire gets taken out by a Cinderella
I think there's something else going on in professional sports. The numbers don't make sense. I know teams share revenue which is odd. Professional sports is corrupt and we play into it
Sterns likes to shop at the dollar store where you get items for one dollar instead of the saks fifth ave store . The mets could for sure could had got courbin burnes or freid or even santander. Dont even look to see pete alonso back too and dont look for the mets to even be going deep in the playoffs this season thats if they even get a wild card again.
You guys don’t understand how deferrals work do you? The “bill” isn’t just left for the next owner to pay. The money has to be set aside to ENSURE it is paid. Stop blaming the Dodgers for your team’s inability to be competitive.
The Mets do not believe Alonso has 6 years 30 million in him. No other team does either so quit knocking the Mets on this. They want him back but decided Soto is worth it and Alonso 3 years best for now
Guys I been saying for years we will see constriction in MLB within 10 years. These contracts are terrible for the game. No young players worth anything will not stay with the team that drafted them now and all will want to deal with arb and go to FA in their 20s. It’s terrible for baseball.

He has that tough attitude like Winker which the Mets need and can do a lot - hit, steal, defense
Are you talking about Profar? For the last 3 years? Have you looked at his stats for the first 10 years of his career?
@JumboJuneau why not focus on his recent and apparent improvement
@@j5muscle Because it could be a fluke. Also look at the breakdown of the year. The first half he played well, but the second half he reverted back to his old self.
Really Wardy? One good season, and we want him?
Where the hell is Profar going to play?
First if we don't sign Pete. Or OF or DH
The Mets are the car guy who paid $100000 for an engine then bought a set of tires for $100. Nobody even knows what they are doing now. They dont want to pay anyone. The only difference between them and the blue jays is that they got Soto. Most expected the mets to get 2 more bats and so far they havent gotten any. If they want to rely on younger players thats fine but those players better work out. The Mets dont have an Ace. They have good pitchers but not great. Los Angelis is litterally burning to the ground and the mets still cant sign anyone.
What a stupid analysis lol
What you don't like AJ Minter over Tanner Scott😂😂
@ How? You probably think having guerrero instead of Alonso is going to save them? how about you do what the dodgers would do. Sign alonso and trade for guerrero. The Dodgers would also sign Bregman. Then You have a lineup with Lindor, Soto, Alonso, Bregman, Guerrero. Instead you have a lineup of Lindor and Soto. Also since you didnt sign Alonso you allow the Blue jays to have him and they think they dont have to trade Guerrero. The blue jays wont trade Guerrero if they get Alonso. Please tell me why my Analysis is stupid?
I know @cptjockitch does not know ball. He thinks that everyone is deferring salary for the Mets too, or that we have an unlimited budget.
@@LSharp609 Neither is great. They are both good tho. But why not sign both? You dont need to just trade for guerrero. You can sign Alonso and trade for guerrero.
Thank you for acknowledging the ppl who are just disregarding that the Mets added Juan Soto with the biggest contract ever
Mets targeting this guy and the Mets targeting that guy, Mets are talking with this guy and the Mets are talking with that guy. Spoiler alert - the Mets aren't going to be doing anything. I still don't understand what their plan is and they will be scratching and clawing for a wild card spot and if they meet The Dodgers in the playoff's The Dodgers will kick the living bejesus out of The Mets again.
Stop whining like a little school girl.
Just sign Pete.
With Winkler on board. There’s no way he comes here doesn’t have a full time position. Only fit left is Alonso.
I DON'T BLAME THE DODGERS AT ALL, BUT BASEBALL HAS TO MAKE CHANGES.
The Yankees have done this for years so shut up and enjoy the game...
@@robertdaniels3029 WATCH THAT PIEHOLE NUMBNUTZ AND I'M NOT A YANKEE FAN.
If anyone here thinks we are getting ANYONE else, prepare for disappointment. We are going into the year with Vientos at first and a platoon of Batty and Mauricio on third.
Mauricio is unlikely to be ready at the beginning of the year.
@dashx1103 right so just Baty
I like the Winker/Marte DH pair rather than using Profar full-time there.
I think he would be LF. He has good defense and Nimmo has planter facietis
A lot depth right. But depth with first base except trying Vientos at first and trying others to play third. Dont think so.we have a lot in outfield.
I don’t like stearns he’s not the genius all you guys think he is he likes to shop at goodwill when he should be shopping at macys
Agreed. David Stearns has done absolutely nothing. The Soto signing was all Steve Cohen. David Stearns himself is just another Freddie Coupons.
This reminds me of the old classic mets trying to find an outfielder and a first baseman at the same time. so they sign a bunch of people that are just utility players. rather than actually signing somebody that plays the position and just spending the money to keep your home grown Guy.
The Dodgers flex muscle, the Mets don't. Only here and there. The Mets are strategic where the Dodgers are bold.
Strategic? That’s being kind.
Lmao strategic, not!!! Don’t be surprised dodgers swing a trade for guerrero, muncy contract is done after 2025, freeman 2026, they need infield corner they have lots to offer Toronto
@don9733 i never thought about that.
Newbie here Wardy, not thrilled about our starting pitching. Can you please talk about that, thx!
Excellent job on this video! Insightful, intelligent and thought provoking analysis!! Great work..
Steve isn’t just “a billionaire.” He has $25 billion. If he lost $1 billion next year, and that’s just offered as an extreme example, he’d have dropped 4% of his worth.
As a Mets fan I was so excited when we landed Soto but now I’m so disappointed with our GM what are we doing we havent done anything els to improve our line up and now we just lost stantander smh
Also the Dodgers luxury tax total figures in Ohtani. It’s the non-luxury tax total that doesn’t figure him in.
I like say before the Mets are still celebrating Soto Signing. Nothing has happened since then. They are counting on the bargains that they are getting from the basement.
Mets management stopped celebrating the Soto signing the day after the signing was official. Do you think that the Mets front office is like a bunch of fans?
He used to kill Jacob Degrom
I see Nimmo DH a lot this season and Winker playing LF against RH pitching
Think two notes that should have been mentioned in the financial thread is the significant increase to Cohen’s net worth since buying the team and substantial revenue made in his other ventures this year alone. An important element to all this
dodgers are a super team!! this is the best team ever assembled in history of baseball
I think in the next CBA you will see a limit on how much of a contract can be deferred, maybe 10-20%? Dodgers are playing within the rules yes, but now it’s just getting stupid.
I would just be worried that as soon as he puts on another uni that isn’t the padres, he’s going to suck
The big problem here is not everyone can handle the big City's lights of New York think about it
Dodgers will win 111 games.. then choke in the NLDS
You’re wrong!!! The more likely scenario is they end up breaking the Mariners’ record of 116 by 3 games then choke in the playoffs
No our cheap mets
will win 81 games and miss the playoffs
as usual
@ please explain how the Mets are cheap. They literally spent 700-800 million on one player. 18 months ago offered Alonso 160 million dollars. Pete the clown 🤡 rejected it.
@@skipgadberry3275same thing with a rich dude buying a lambo but eating ramen noodles at home 😁
@ bahahahahaha
What why profar ? Huh? Na
Wilponish 😂😂
If the Mets are targeting Profar, they have big problems.
Lets go Mets im a mets fan since 1979
Is Sterns a graduate from the University of Wilpons. Have 2/3 excellent player then fill in the rest with mostly 3rd tier players.
This is bs. Profar instead of Santander who adds the power incasa Pete is gone
Look at the Dodgers and look at us....nuff said!!!
Cohen please step in. I had high expectations for this off season. Profar for Soto lineup protection 😢
@@dannyruiz992 I hope Cohen step in. Stearns need to go back to a small market team
I am disgusted with my team right now. I didn’t want Soto and he got so overpaid. Yet they are splitting hairs with Alonso???
How could you possibly say you didn't want soto lol
Dumb fans
Despite the versatility, Profar wouldn't seem to fit Stearns's wish to prioritize defense and run prevention.
I trust the Mets front office will do right by this but, I have no idea what they are doing. Now we have interest in Profar? Really? Where is he going to play??
First base? 3rd base if Vientos moves over to 1st? OF fill in? Candelita replacement?
Gotta love the AJ Minter move😂😂
FO don’t know what they doing either lol…throwing ish to the wall see what sticks

Stearns thinks he’s smarter than anyone else. He’ll make moves that will only make him look good
After witnessing Profars behavior against the dodgers this postseason, is that the “Leadership” you want for the Mets young players?
So why spend so much money on Soto, just to make the fans happy
Soto was a good signing in that Cohen wanted to make a point to the rest of the league. Soto was a bad signing in that he was waaaaay overpaid. I’m a Dodgers fan, but I’m most curious about how the Mets will do this season.
@@THE_KERSHAW_KURSEthe dodgers puts a fork in soto signing by getting tanner scott to neutralize him lmao….dodgers playing chess while mets playing chinese checker
I WANT THE POLAR BEAR BACK.
What is a possible solution for this deferred money issue? Making it a reverse of luxury tax is a deferred penalty counts all deferred money if you go over the total deferred money level penalties and draft picks.
The Mets winning the World Series this year will be even Sweeter...Watch and learn !!
At least mets should focus on other relief pitchers like Kyle Finnegan, D-Rob, Kirby Yates, Ryne Stanek
METS has to bring Pete and move Nimmo or Marte to CF To have a stronger lineup
Profar 🤔 im getting wilpon vibes again. Bargain hunters
Right😂
Every time I call stearns a bargain hunter I get attacked because I’m insulting the genius stearns lol
@@Patrick-o8l6m Nothing special about Stearns. I can throw a bunch of pitchers out there during the season and maybe a couple of hit.
RIP Jeff
Mets fans online need to chill...team currently better than team last year...also they will likely add at trading deadline
I think we’re saving more money for Vlad either by extending him or getting him in free agency next year
Mets have to go after Vlady this offseason more aggressively to keep in competition against Dodgers. pretty sure this is exactly why Mets and other teams are so passive on Alonso. I know he said he won’t start negotiation during season but having him next to Soto for 1 year would greatly helpful to keep him.
That's kinda what the Yankees thought...
Amen
Hey dodgers got tanner scott to neutralize soto so thats that 😂
Could put in him in the 2 hole then Vientos at the clean up spot
Not a fan of Stearns tbh. You offer Pete 3yr 68M with no opt-outs? What if he has an amazing year? He won't be able to reset and try for more money? You're basically trying to screw the guy over. You're basically saying you don't want him and are making an offer he could easily refuse. At least offer an opt-out for crying out loud.
What if he has a terrible year?
What if he is just as shit as he was for the last half of the season?
Ok thank you opinion that was a little off the Mets are taking off chances and not getting any rewards if they are overpaying and they deserve some type of respect
@@MetnycmanIf he has a terrible year then he'll stay with the same 68 million dollar contract they offered him. The Mets offered him no opt-outs so they are willing to take the chance on him having a terrible year. So again why not just give him an opt out?
@@goldmans95remember the Mets are the ones that offered him zero opt-outs. So they are the ones taking the chance of him having a bad year. It seems like they are unnecessarily tying him up in case he does have a good year.
I’m happy the Dodgers signed Tanner Scott and Roki Sasaki. But the Mets, I’m very disappointed.
No Met fan or baseball fan would be happy for the Dodgers.
I would rather platoon Marte & Winker @ DH and let Profar play 1B. Not a huge fan of trading Marte since we didn’t resign Pete and need as many professional/experienced hitters as possible.
The majority of this comment section is going to be pretty disappointed when we go into the season with Baty at 3rd and Vientos at first. Unless Alonso/Boras come to their senses and take the mets offer, I think the starting lineup is pretty much set
Profar has been a great San Diego Padre. But never much anywhere else.
Let's just hope the Dodgers choke in one of the series in the playoffs. That's the great thing about baseball when a team like the new Evil Empire gets taken out by a Cinderella
I think there's something else going on in professional sports. The numbers don't make sense. I know teams share revenue which is odd. Professional sports is corrupt and we play into it
It is what it is. Don't hate the dodgers for giving their fans a championship team. The Yankees have always done it
Love you wardy but comparing kd/warriors move to ohtani/dodgers is crazy 😂
Sterns likes to shop at the dollar store where you get items for one dollar instead of the saks fifth ave store . The mets could for sure could had got courbin burnes or freid or even santander. Dont even look to see pete alonso back too and dont look for the mets to even be going deep in the playoffs this season thats if they even get a wild card again.
I don’t like Profar as a replacement for Pete. More to the point, I don’t think the Mets will sign Profar.
You guys don’t understand how deferrals work do you? The “bill” isn’t just left for the next owner to pay. The money has to be set aside to ENSURE it is paid. Stop blaming the Dodgers for your team’s inability to be competitive.
They should've signed Profar when they signed Pham before '23.
The Mets only need to make the tournament. Once there, only one team needs to beat LAD in a short series.
As a Dodgers fan I agree 1 bad series 💙 and they are out
Does no one want jeff mcneil? Man would love to get that off the books
No.
That's make this happened Mets LFGM🎉😂😅😊
The Mets do not believe Alonso has 6 years 30 million in him. No other team does either so quit knocking the Mets on this. They want him back but decided Soto is worth it and Alonso 3 years best for now
araes , imagine lindor, areas, soto/ pete/vlad, vientos, etc
Profar hit in 83 degree weather every home game. How does he fare in 50 degree games?
How come we don't see hits on stats
Guys I been saying for years we will see constriction in MLB within 10 years. These contracts are terrible for the game. No young players worth anything will not stay with the team that drafted them now and all will want to deal with arb and go to FA in their 20s. It’s terrible for baseball.
