Nicely done. I had the same problem with one hole not being drilled out on my friends Wilton. I just finished a Wilton 600 last night and had no problems. I think Wilson's quality control was lacking throughout the years.
So would it have been built in December of 63? I think the date stamped is the date it was made plus 5 years, which would be the date the warranty runs out.
That's a good question. Theres some debate about this topic but I believe I read an article on wikipedia that explains it very well if you're interested
Great job! Those nuts/handles you made for the swivel clamping are genius. You could put a wrench on there to tighten it down (or loosen) if you need to. Great design. Sorry, not liking the color. Really? Teal? Unless you’re going to mount that vise in your daughter’s bedroom.
@@jizosh He didn't file and polish the anvil, he didn't clean up the handle, he made new handles and nuts for the swivel but didn't show any of that. Sorry, but I think I saw half of a restoration video.

We missed the good parts. I can sit and watch vise restores all day. You need to include the paint and cleaning. Good job none the less. Thank you.

No, I left it after 3 coats of the teal color

It is a light teal blue color made by rustolem i got a small spray can of it on Amazon

Huh? Teal is a great color, regardless of genitalia.
I have an early C1 and the factory color is very close to this.
The closest color you can get to original is Rust-Oleum Hammered Verde Green 7219830. It really would have looked nice on this vise.

You missed a spot.
It cleaned up good. Would not really call it a restoration. There are quite a few more things that needed done. But, it looks nice. A for effort.
