Most people never said that. All they said was, the real football folks, is he’s a game manager. That’s all he had to be most of the time. He did good but it does matter this year bc he was a vet and had tons of starts. Experience matters despite what most ignorant football fans say

I hate the 2 QB system idea. All that does is take the rhythm away from the starter. Look at 2021 UM vs MSU. McNamara was doing ok, we put McCarthy in and he fumbles. It changed the momentum of the game. I hope Sherrone names a starter and rides with him. I don't want to see the backup unless it's a blowout win or the starter gets injured.
With the limited amount we've seen, I want warren. He looks to clearly have the best arm. If he gets the nod, I'm good with them using orji like they did at the end of last year. Where he comes in for 4 or 5 designed runs or options. They had a lot of success with that, but no more than that.
@@justinschram oh don’t get these fans started with stats about QBs. There’s a reason 95% of more teams name a starter. Also I’m betting Michigan knows their QB too. @DTraiN5795 I agree. 2 QB systems never work. If orji is really as great of an athlete as we're being told, they need to get creative and find ways to get him the ball (assuming he isn't the QB). Maybe lining up in the backfield or slot occasionally. Or even sending him out wide for a quick WR screen. Best case imo, is that his accuracy has improved dramatically (like 65%+), and he starts. Then they can frequently roll him out, with the LBs and safetys having to respect his legs it'll leave guys open or in man coverage.
"People" were wrong. JJ's predecessor, McNamara, was a game manager. Last year, UM relied on JJ's passing until the run game picked up. And not surprisingly, some "fans" complained at that time about the running game not being like it was in the previous two years.
I believe Orji starts, Warren plays and performs better. Michigan doesn't need help in the run game. Warren being a better passer helps the run game, because the pass game has to be respected. Orji as the QB gives more options in the run game at the same time weakens pass coverage. Why, because his duel threat will require a spy if he proves he can run and or scramble. Who ever starts the #2 should get reps in blowouts and any possible time he can for possible injuries etc....
Having Orji on the field changes the numbers in the box for the Defense to account for. Teams didn't really need to account for J.J. like they will for Alex. The flats in the zones and seam patterns are going to be open all day.
I think I’d start orji and I’d use him just how the bills used josh allen when he first got to the league. heavy run/QB power, and alot of screens and slants to semaj morgan. twice a half you take a deep shot.
Absolutely 💯. They'll run some inverted veer too. Orji, Haskins and Edwards would be nightmare running that stuff. Plan on more passes to Edwards on wheel and Texas routes. Loveland is a big time Mismatch out there. They'll be fine once they get into a rhythm 👍〽️
Ironically, Michigan is essentially going through what Ohio State went through last season. I think Michigan is gonna go opposite of what OSU did, pick mobility over arm and go with Alex Orji. My predictions for Orji: 1700 passing yards; 13-14 Pass TDs; 5-6 INTs; 800-1000 rush yards; 7-8 Rush TDs. Their offense will rely more on the success of Donovan Edwards then Alex Orji.
If they need help running the ball, they have bigger problems than whos starting at QB. However, i dont think they will any issues there. I think edwards steps up big, and mullings is flying under the radar. I don't think it'll be long before people are talking about Michigan's 2 headed monster at RB. With that being said, they need an accurate passer who can convert on third downs and use their legs to extend plays, not tuck and run. To me, it seems like warren is the guy.
Michigan in the Harbaugh era has always subbed in different quarterbacks in most games. I think the most I saw was 7 different qb's in one game. I bet Sherrone is similar.
JP - Mich could likely beat Fresno playing Edwards/Mulling at QB. Does MI have a Championship - Playoff - or 4 loss QB? Is what fans want to know. And - secondarily - is the backup capable of stepping in at the same level?
@@di114n2 Fresno is no benchmark for elite performance.
