There were so many GREAT singers in that day, all the artists had to bring their vocal 'A game' or go home! Not like today, where mostly everything is synthesized.
It’s funny how songs like this we knew what they meant but unlike today kids take stuff too far we just enjoy the song even though we knew the meaning one of my favorite song remember her husband had a nice song as well. I’ll be 64 so you know, this was a favor OK all right mama
I was 12 in 75...Coming of Age...My song Playlist starts with this here today! Love to all from the Redwoods of Northcoast Cali!!! Make Love not War!!!❤
Boy are both mama McCRAE and papa GEORGE M cCRAE know how too ROCK the chair and rock your baby all night long. I have put this song on repeat for at least 1 hours.
I am here in 2024 , but what I can say one of the loveable songs that's there to listen to everyday as years go on. Waken up the LOVE 💗💗 definitely ❤️💕
My Grandmother used to play this on a Zenith TV Record Player Console back in the day (70’s). I remember her love for music which made me a lover of music! Man those were some awesome times and the music was always top notch!!!
And look at Ma Manhattan today, they preping to celebrate in their underwear, dancing and partying in public to show off their prosteriors and all that, smh while utube look to censor your comments, smh.
63 and I’m right here with you!! My 9yr old granddaughter LOVES this song. It gives me so much pleasure to see her rockin’ to it as I drive along.😍😍I told her when she gets older, she will KNOW what GREAT music is because of me!!😍
Have the best memories a decade ago of my best friend & i’s high school graduation and his family dancing to this the second I played it. Ill always love this, and def listening to this for over a decade+
This certainly brings back good memories of my dancing days Was 23 then, and unmarried at the time. Disco was our thing at that time. Now 71 divorced and a mom who constantly reminds my son that his mom was killing it then. He just smiles at laughs at our get up and colours of those days😅😅😅.
I’m still listening to this song in 2024 . Music is in the heart and down in the soul. That’s the only way that I know how to feel and relate with it. Music is an expression and means of communication.

Once upon a time when we had "SOUL MUSIC"! Some forget this very talented artist had hits thru the 80's as well. Made grown black folk have a totally different perception of your average Rocking Chair!
DJ Cat not scared to be in a room full of rocking chairs just keeps mixin-n-spinnin. Mid seventies music was a diverse and stylish groove that warmed the soul.
One of the tunes you could hear at the under 21 dance club. We were learning to dance and it was a fun adventure. I remember watching all us kids attempting to dance the latest dances. We were so uncoordinated lol. But it was such a good time; and I remember my boyfriend at that time as well lol. What a wonderous time in a teenager's life. 😄❤💙💃🕺
@@michaelasay8587 Yes I do and I remember dancing to that too. What a great memory. I'd love to spend one day back then. Just one day. I'd probably never want to come back lol. 💢💥
Not that it matters one little whit.....but fwiw I'm white and was about 20 in '75 when I first heard this on my old Ford car's dinky little am radio. I've always been a guy that has been a hard-rocker and a guy that insists that if a song is going to be one of my all-time lifelong favorites.....it NEEDS to have one hell of a heavy bass line. In other words, I dig tunes that have BALLSY, tough-ol' bass lines. When I heard this song the first time, the bass part made my little speaker in my car rattle and protest violently. I WAS HOOKED! This is one of the most ballsy, bad-ass tunes any woman ever sang. Almost 50 yrs. old and it STILL holds up. Thank You Gwen McCrae! I hope you're in great health and loving life right now. jbeinarizona
We would have burned up the dance floor. And I would have wanted to ride home with you or at least stopped and got a cup of coffee. In NYC no one would have cared.
God what I would give to turn back the hands of time and go back to that era and live again, sure would do things different and yea I am still listening to this 2024👌🏿😇♥️💕
I was 14 when this track was released... It was still playing at the clubs when I turned 18 and became of 'legal age' (living in Sweden...) in 1979.
