I feel it all depends on where you were in your life that'll determine which Treyarch game had the better zombies mode. You can say that goes for most games in general. But I was 12 when BO2 was released so everyone in middle school was talking about the zombies mode and was hype for all of the maps. Those times were some of the best times in my life personally. I still remember those long summer nights playing non-stop zombies with all kinds of friends from school. Because of that I hold BO2 to a higher regard than most.
Personally WaW was my first Zombies experience. It was so unreal seeing a Call of Duty game, especially a WW2 one, release with a zombies mode. I'm still impartial to WaW for many reasons, mainly because of familiarity, fond memories, and just appreciating the atmosphere and storytelling in it (even if it was barebones compared to future releases). I remember seeing all the trailers as they came out and being excited for each evolutio0n of the formula. They're not as ambitious or content heavy as future maps, but they're fun for what they are. I also just love the WW2 weapons over other eras.
@@ohno5507 I was a 6-year-old dollhouse obsessed girl when World at War came out so unfortunately I never got into World at War when it was first released. In 2016 I did play the original maps with my online friend a little bit, but we mostly played a few popular custom zombie maps. I got into Black Ops II zombies pretty much a few months after it first came out (I had previous experience with Modern Warfare 2 and 3 but never played zombies) and I was pretty much addicted. I miss those times a lot.
I have to say: you are the first person I've ever heard who liked Tranzit (and by extension, the entire Green Run area concept) on it's own, separate from the potential it had. Also, Origins is really balanced around you building at least one staff for a reason. Not making a staff is just handicapping yourself, which is good for a challenge, but not regular play.
Wow, that was a mini-journey. I would pay you if I could but really though, you are the best for doing this 2 part video on Zombies, keep on doing what you do best!
Beautiful video, was like a nostalgic ride with a wise mentor who is driving the car teaching me many things I may have missed all those years ago along the way. Well done mate
Man you really should have done the easter eggs as a requirement before discussing the maps… Because Die Eisendrach, Origins and Gorod Krovi are some of the greatest maps ever made purely due to how fun to play, and well written the easter eggs are.
Hey, a little tip. From what I recall, there's 2 mods for BO2 that let you play offline. Plutonium and Redacted. Redacted isn't updated anymore iirc, but Plutonium is. Hope it helps!
I know it's 4 years later but here are some great bo2 tips for some of the maps. From a self proclaimed pro at bo2. Tranzit: -if you run with a turbine out you knife faster. You can knife the denizens right before they get on your head and then knife a second time and they usually die. only slow you for a bit. -use the hatch on the roof of diner instead of the bus to get galvaknuckles. The bus roof is dangerous to stay on cuz it knocks you off anyways plus denizens become a 1 knife before they can latch on your head. Avagadro becomes a 3 knife. With tip 1 you'll never be using the bus anyways too. -leave 1 zombie before opening pap, leave the turbine, guide the zombie to the edge of the fog and kill it. Then run towards town. No zombies will spawn in power if you do this and your turbine will stay alive. -if you bring a denizen under a lit lamppost, they make a random tp that helps map traversal -pap m16 and train in the tunnel after you've fully set up. The wall buy is there so easy ammo and it's open. Die Rise -if you have 100% accuracy on jumping jack rounds you can get a free perk. Get galvaknuckles as soon as possible and only knife on those rounds to guarantee you get the perk. -put a trample steam on the window under the dragon stairs then camp that area. All the zombies will be coming from one side while the trample steam kills the ones behind you. Buried -the farther Leroy has to charge at the barriers he can break the more points you get -you can use Leroy to lock the box in one location by giving him candy -deposit all/most of your money in bank before going to witch house. Take your time, learn their spawn pattern and you'll be able to easily get out of the house and lose no points. -only the gates in the maze move so learning the hedge layout is important. I feel like mob and origins don't need as many tips, they're more Easter egg heavy so most of the tips would just be Easter egg steps.
Just a note: while the base game of BO2 won’t have Zombies access when the servers shut down, there’s a mod called Plutonium that’s fairly easy to install. It allows for offline access
my favorite strategy for high rounds on buried is camping out in the juggernog alley with two subs and pack-a-punched weapons and just vibing. plus? using Leroy to lock the box? 10 / 10, just run over when need be and go back to the hole
Tranzit provided the biggest scare of my life when I first played the zombies mode in Black Ops II. And I made the unfortunate mistake of getting off the bus back at the start and then tried to catch the bus before it left into purgatory. I walk into the misty fog and I get attacked by a Denizen which let out the most freakishly scream I had ever heard at that time of my life, gave me a new reason to fear ever going into the damn fog of that or any of the other maps in which the Denizen was a feature.
It's crazy how different your opinions on these maps are to my own I would love you to make a follow up after going further in depth Luke easter eggs messing around with the wonder weapons and just experiencing them more as a solo player myself I definitely agree with some points but have to completely disagree with a lot of them especially regarding mob of the dead and origins
PHD is not useless…. The gimmick is the dolphin dive explosion, the actual useful part is it negates all explosive and splash damage. Making the ray gun viable in tight situations or a packapunched explosive weapon.
Honestly this series sold me on buying Blops 3 complete when it was on sale and man it's so good. And a lot of the workshop zombie maps are either as good if not better then stuff Treyarch has put out. Wanted is probably my favorite zombies map ever made and it's a mod.
Some of my best memories as a person come from my times playing zombies with friends. Specifically the maps shadows of evil, kino der toten, der riese, mod of the dead, and oddly, revelations. Between those maps, I probably have over 1200 hours, let alone the other time spent trying to master the not mentioned maps. It was interesting to see someone else dive into what might be my favorite coop experience ever completely solo. Some of your points I thought were from a different planet, but all together, I thought your appreciation for the change ups in mechanics, and treyarchs desire to shake up the feel every map, was what really brought the community together. That platform is perfect for what they wanted to do, and it shows in their product. They LOVED zombies. Great video, thank you for sharing your dive into the series.
I really enjoy your content, it definitely deserves a lot more attention for the incredible quality and time you put into developing each episode. I'd like to further support you via patreon, have you considered making one? This is some seriously good content that I'd love to continue to support post-viewing
everyone rags on Tranzit but honestly there was nothing more fun than getting your friends round and playing Tranzit, whether thats just surviving on the bus or even getting on the bus super quickly so your mate had to run behind. one in each section of the map? not using the bus? it was just fun. i loved BO2 zombies because of the memories i have of it.
Extremely well made. As a long time hardcore player of zombies these are two of the best videos I’ve ever seen covering the mode. They gave me a whole new perspective on certain features. Even though I heavily disagreed with a few things like Origins I could always understand you’re reasoning. Great work. By the way did you play BO4 zombies and what did you think of it?
17:19 that level design is pretty good actually it’s an area you don’t want to be in so it’s a factor you think of when you have to do a lap through it and the elevator also adds to it idk
I’d love to see you dive into Exo-Zombies, IW Zombies, WW2 Zombies, Bo4 Zombies, and Cold War Zombies. Just to see your takes and opinions on each of the maps

I'm scratching my head on where some of the background music comes from. I KNOW I recognize it from somewhere, but I can't remember where! Anyway, great vid!
Black Ops II was peak Zombies for me. Maybe because my friends and I spent so long doing the Easter egg for Origins (fuck Treyarch, if you try doing the Easter egg in custom game, it will crash at a specific point every time) but regardless, I love Origins. My favorite maps, in order, were: 1.) Origins 2.) Mob of the Dead 3.) Buried Transit would rank in 4th, but it is a bit basic by the end of Black Ops II. I would still rank it above the Skyscraper one. Unfortunately, my friends kind of split apart around Black Ops III and we never were able to do any of the Easter eggs in it, even the first map, despite us giving it a few chances.
Had no idea black ops 2 on PC was so online unlike console which of course allows offline play cause not every Xbox player has enough money for Xbox live
I know I'm watching this years later, but a French film 'The Horde' is the Tower-Block Zombie movie you are looking for, it plays a lot on fatalism, and the characters are unlikeable by design, but give it a chance if you haven't already.
PhD flopper in accention is straight up broken. Use it with pap pistols for explosive immunity allowing you to escape being surrounded. Second you can just flop off the main platform and kill zombies if you run out of ammo. Which happens a lot
Wow i really enjoyed this video especially hearing a new perspective on these old maps. I just cant believe you never built the orgins staff or attempted the easter egg, which imo really makes origins stand out and der eisendrache bows , you really need to revisit these maps and give them a try with the wonder weapons.
i was mostly excited for the original part of the video but it left me very disappointed because you didn’t even experience 10% of the map…especially not making 1 staff at least? its not even that hard…
there’s no way he said PhD wasn’t useful when it was removed for being too strong, but Vulture Aide is. even tho it’s ability to see thru walls becomes entirely useless and actually cluttered/annoying when you play the map a lot and know where everything is other than that i agree with most of the points. tho on Mob, EC wasn’t added to “replace Mule Kick” it was added as a defensive mechanic due to the many tight corridors you mentioned before.
Excellent video. As someone who thought that the COD franchise was out of ideas,i it's nice to be shown something being worked on by people with so much passion.
I don't know if anyone has said this yet but #live is a really good zombies movie on Netflix taking place in a multi-floored "apartment building" similar enough I guess not quite high-rise status but you get the idea anyway it's worth a watch though because it exactly covers what he was talking about whenever it comes to how people react to living in a confined space for a long time
this is a very well made video and you can tell he put a lot of effort into it, but man you missed the majority of the content. From bo2 (especially blundell maps which are origins and mob), the focus shifts from hit the box and survive, to easter egg quests which can help you survive even more. You say origins felt weak because you pretty much played it like you would play kino. Same with zetsubo, you say it felt barebones because you just unlocked pap. Not doing the easter egg once in zombies is like only stealing cars and driving around the map in gta without doing the missions. That's why pretty much most of your opinions are the exact opposite of the majority of the community, since you're only scratching the surface. Also, the lockdown sequence in gorod is so easy, just get a gun, upgrade it and go to the room on the left of where you spawn, leave the max ammo for when you run out of bullets.
New subscriber. Can't wait for the next games. Ps maybe make a video about the other zombies from the other call of duty games. Hell even touch up on extinction.
I gotta say that I really enjoyed nuke town zombies, primarily because I would always get the ray gun so early in the game. In like round 5 I’d already have the ray gun and most time I played the map I’d just get it so easily
Not sure if it counts as tower block, but the spanish film Rec (or its american remake) take place in an apartmemt complex. (The original is better though.)
So I disagree with so much of what this videos display, but I did really like his perspective. He seems more like a casual fan which isn’t bad. So great video man.
As someone who’s played almost every iteration of zombies (except vanguard and exo zombies) I have some disagreements with this video but it was very interesting to see the perspective of someone outside the zombies community comment on it, this had monumental effort put in and for that I appreciate it. However, research and knowledge on what you’re commenting on is incredibly important and you’ve missed a lot but as someone who isn’t balls deep into zombies probably doesn’t know how useful said items are. (Moon hacker, hells retriever/redeemer, calling phd flopper a shit perk without having used it) all in all good video but needs some extra talking points and research.
What’s the point of doing a retrospective if you’re not even going to bother to subject yourself to what the game has to offer? Playing Origins without the staves (when it is integral to the entire flow and gameplay of the map), then saying the Panzer is bad and the map is bad is like watching half a movie and trying to critique why it’s a terrible movie. You can’t, you have to expose yourself to what something actually has to offer to the fullest to give a proper judgement...
Gonna try to not flame you because my god have you already been roasted by this comment section so I’ll try to be nice about this. I think your issues with maps like origins and others is a bit petty. The panzer on origins is not that difficult. He is actually my favourite boss in the game because he pushes you to be ready for him. You cannot slack off on origins because once’s that round 7 comes along oh boy you will be beaten relentlessly. I’ve played the map probably hundreds of times with and without friends and by far the best strat is to run around no man’s land training the zombies and grenading him or shooting the hoard eventually he goes down. Your complaints with the wonderfizz are a bit petty as well because if you know the game, (which by the sounds of your opinions in the video and your admission) you don’t. You will know what perk you got by looking at the bottle and can decide if you want it or not. I’m not sure I understand your hatred of perks like electric cherry and phd flopper because cherry will save your life when reloading anything especially LMGs and phd will save your live if you have any splash damage gun. Examples being; ray gun, packed m1911, rpg, grenades etc. dead shot sucks I’ll admit especially on pc it’s almost useless. Which is why if you get it in the wonderfizz you don’t pick it up. Your complaints on origins are a bit odd because as you said, you didn’t even bother touching the staffs. Arguably the best part of the map. Your criteria for each map was good but I would have added atleast attempting the Easter egg for each map. Some are harder then others it took me nearly 2 weeks to get origins down pat but I loved each attempt. As for buried your complaints related to the banking system and the witches are also odd. I’ll admit the witches are annoying and the banking system can break the game. BUT you can break any game and take the fun out of it. Whether it’s exiting the map walls and progressing to where you wish to be or using god mode glitches. These things in games can break it and ruin the fun. But the thing about it is you choose whether to use them or not. Sure the banking system isn’t a glitch and was intended to be in the game but so was dead shot and (in your case) PHD but that doesn’t mean you HAVE to use them. The witches are a fun mechanic and are not difficult to kill especially with any shotgun, ray gun, or sniper. Once your thru the mansion you get a free perk which is a great reward. And as for the maze, cmon man. It’s a maze, your 25, my 6 year old nephew can do them. So can you. And running into a dead end isn’t a death sentence. You simply use nades, monkeys, or whatever gun you have (if you have the map exclusive you can jump over the walls) and once you are through the maze you can camp at the pack a punch and save up again to be able to pack a punch. It’s a great camping spot almost as good as jug and even better then jug if you have 2 people. Which I know you didn’t but still. Over all it’s a good video but I think you should have seen how little experience you have with all these maps and games and known that you shouldn’t review it as your not in a place to review it. The staffs alone tell me that
So, I haven't played Zombies since World at War's Nacht Der Untoten. I bought Black Ops 3 with the Zombie Chronicles on the Xbox just to play Zombies. Needless to say. It's been a long time since. With the new stuff about this game mode. I have no idea what I am doing if I am honest. Videos like this are why I decided to get back into this game mode. I guess I can say that I am fairly new to all this. In a way.
I never really had any issues with the dragon strike waves It may be a bit of a surprise the first time around and may catch you offguard but i think it adds replayability The challenge is something I anticipate and prepare for The biggest issue with it is the ammo distribusion Just get yourself a gun with a lot of ammo and double tap Use the shield's attack when you're cornered Even if it doesnt have any remaining ammo Go to each of the windows as they open and pay attention to where the zombies are coming from and dont let them even get passed the barricade Dont use the max ammo at the pack a punch until the final wave And you're good It is a test of endurance but a welcome one to me with a good reward

I no longer make the origins staffs personally because it's way too much of a bother and any papped weapon can easily take down the panzer
This guy really reviewed Origins and Buried without talking about the wonder weapons on the map lmao
Train to busan is a good zombie movie. Not set in a tower block but in another enclosed space, a train.
The reason Nuke town got brought back so many times is because it is a map that is loved by nearly every player who's played on it, it's a classic🙂
I know it's 4 years later but here are some great bo2 tips for some of the maps. From a self proclaimed pro at bo2.
Tranzit:
-if you run with a turbine out you knife faster.
-if you bring a denizen under a lit lamppost, they make a random tp that helps map traversal
-pap m16 and train in the tunnel after you've fully set up. The wall buy is there so easy ammo and it's open.
Die Rise
-if you have 100% accuracy on jumping jack rounds you can get a free perk. Get galvaknuckles as soon as possible and only knife on those rounds to guarantee you get the perk.
-put a trample steam on the window under the dragon stairs then camp that area. All the zombies will be coming from one side while the trample steam kills the ones behind you.
Buried
-the farther Leroy has to charge at the barriers he can break the more points you get
-you can use Leroy to lock the box in one location by giving him candy
-deposit all/most of your money in bank before going to witch house.
42:06
I'm sorry, but you hate Origins for solely one reason...
*'Mad 'cause bad.'*
It’s so cool seeing this game from blind eyes. So many of your takes triggered me after playing the game since WAW lol Awesome video dude.
my favorite strategy for high rounds on buried is camping out in the juggernog alley with two subs and pack-a-punched weapons and just vibing.
plus? using Leroy to lock the box? 10 / 10, just run over when need be and go back to the hole
3:16 I'm pretty sure you can get PhD on MotD grief
Bo3 is my favourite cod and zombies ever tbh 🤷♂️
on mob of the dead solo you can hold all plane pieces at once instead of going back and forth one piece at a time
Some of my best memories as a person come from my times playing zombies with friends.
I've considered it, but nah, not at the moment at least. Maybe at 15k subs or something with a consistent viewership, then maybe.
“I hope they never do anything like this again” referring to nuke town… “alpha omega enters the chat”
Really sad he didnt go over most of the unique wonder wepons that makes the map even better
everyone rags on Tranzit but honestly there was nothing more fun than getting your friends round and playing Tranzit, whether thats just surviving on the bus or even getting on the bus super quickly so your mate had to run behind. one in each section of the map? not using the bus? it was just fun. i loved BO2 zombies because of the memories i have of it.
Shame you didn’t get the origins staffs, that’s what makes the panzer significantly easier to beat
still easy if you shoot him in the face with a full auto weapon while keeping distance
I've never heard someone complain about the globe menu for bo2 zombies before.💀
I appreciate the usage of Automata music, thank you for that!
10:59 it seems like treyarch didn’t listen
I’d love to see you dive into Exo-Zombies, IW Zombies, WW2 Zombies, Bo4 Zombies, and Cold War Zombies. Just to see your takes and opinions on each of the maps
Once you build the staffs the panzers are no longer an issue! The staffs are the key to origins
Yeah and that’s a problem. They’re too integrated to make the map enjoyable for those who don’t like pressing square for the entire game
"Designing a prison level is usally more fun than playing a prison level itself"
Yeah, and Building a prison is usally more fun than living in a prison too
His words, not mine! :3
Tranzit is still convenientally the biggest map with about 128 Nacht DER untoten's fitting inside it
Ah I see, you too watched some TheSmithPlays
Correct, I haven't watched him in 4 months but some things just stick more than others
1:02:05 Got me so good XD Im watching this right after you BO1 video and you shouting like that was so unexpected 😂. thanks for the laugh and amzing overview of all the zombies maps!💯🔥
I'm gonna sleep well tonight.
Interesting vid. I appreciate your different perspective then usual on this topic. Keep up the great work!! :D
I'm scratching my head on where some of the background music comes from. I KNOW I recognize it from somewhere, but I can't remember where! Anyway, great vid!
Send me time stamps and I’ll send them over
Just timeskipping to find it, it's the song that's playing at the 2 minute mark.
Civil (Battle) from FTL: Faster Than Light.
Thank you for telling me how to get the Pack A Punch in Tranzit. Will make my next playthrough much better
💀
3 years late but love ur video
Black Ops II was peak Zombies for me.
Maybe because my friends and I spent so long doing the Easter egg for Origins (fuck Treyarch, if you try doing the Easter egg in custom game, it will crash at a specific point every time) but regardless, I love Origins.
My favorite maps, in order, were:
1.) Origins
2.) Mob of the Dead
3.) Buried
Transit would rank in 4th, but it is a bit basic by the end of Black Ops II. I would still rank it above the Skyscraper one.
Unfortunately, my friends kind of split apart around Black Ops III and we never were able to do any of the Easter eggs in it, even the first map, despite us giving it a few chances.
Never saw someone have the same preferences and favorites as me. Glad to see you here good sir.
Had no idea black ops 2 on PC was so online unlike console which of course allows offline play cause not every Xbox player has enough money for Xbox live
"I can safely say I am optimistic" (about black ops 4 zombies)
That aged well
So I heard.
I know I'm watching this years later, but a French film 'The Horde' is the Tower-Block Zombie movie you are looking for, it plays a lot on fatalism, and the characters are unlikeable by design, but give it a chance if you haven't already.
You can play bo2 zombies offline, on console at least
3:21 PHD FLOPPER IS IN MOB OF THE DEAD ON THE 8 PLAYER GAME MODE (i dont remember the name sorry)
I’m just now realizing that the original crew was only in one of the Black Ops 2 maps.
PhD flopper in accention is straight up broken. Use it with pap pistols for explosive immunity allowing you to escape being surrounded. Second you can just flop off the main platform and kill zombies if you run out of ammo. Which happens a lot
That dragon rant is probably the best part of the video lmao.
Wow i really enjoyed this video especially hearing a new perspective on these old maps. I just cant believe you never built the orgins staff or attempted the easter egg, which imo really makes origins stand out and der eisendrache bows , you really need to revisit these maps and give them a try with the wonder weapons.
Dying Light sort of explores the problems of living in a skyscraper during a zombie apocalypse (especially the first half of the story)
Black Ops 2 has the best map menu selection out of all COD games it's so cool!
He would go on to fume over alpha omega
The der eisendrache bow can be upgraded to a choice of 4 different bows. This is what sets the map above the rest of bo3 imo.
i was mostly excited for the original part of the video but it left me very disappointed because you didn’t even experience 10% of the map…especially not making 1 staff at least? its not even that hard…
Oof that gorod krovi lockdown complaint lol its one of the easiest things to do.
there’s no way he said PhD wasn’t useful when it was removed for being too strong, but Vulture Aide is. even tho it’s ability to see thru walls becomes entirely useless and actually cluttered/annoying when you play the map a lot and know where everything is
other than that i agree with most of the points. tho on Mob, EC wasn’t added to “replace Mule Kick” it was added as a defensive mechanic due to the many tight corridors you mentioned before.
Excellent video. As someone who thought that the COD franchise was out of ideas,i it's nice to be shown something being worked on by people with so much passion.
"oh hey shangri-La, whats up?" Got a genuine laugh out of me. Thank you
Thank you for making this, cos it made my day
Underrated channel
Your ideas are worth just like my ideas on politics while I'm drunk.
Learn the maps before judging them at least a bit
I don't know if anyone has said this yet but #live is a really good zombies movie on Netflix taking place in a multi-floored "apartment building" similar enough I guess not quite high-rise status but you get the idea anyway it's worth a watch though because it exactly covers what he was talking about whenever it comes to how people react to living in a confined space for a long time
Noted :)
The fact he didn't mention most of the easter eggs makes me feel a type of way
The average player don’t bother with Easter eggs. Which I don’t blame them since they’re poorly communicated
I cannot understand how you can hate origins
i hated origins until chronicles
this is a very well made video and you can tell he put a lot of effort into it, but man you missed the majority of the content.
10:59 😂 you jynxed it
I gotta say that I really enjoyed nuke town zombies, primarily because I would always get the ray gun so early in the game. In like round 5 I’d already have the ray gun and most time I played the map I’d just get it so easily
You deserve so much more subs. I love your channel.
Not sure if it counts as tower block, but the spanish film Rec (or its american remake) take place in an apartmemt complex. (The original is better though.)
So I disagree with so much of what this videos display, but I did really like his perspective. He seems more like a casual fan which isn’t bad. So great video man.
#alive is a zombie movie that takes place in a block of flats, although this video
is 3 years old so you might’ve seen it by now
The South Korean film? It's been on my list for some time.
Thank you so much for these!
There are definitely some criticism on the witches in Buried but I still can’t imagine it without them
i really disagree with your distaste towards spider enemies, i always enjoy spider monsters in fictions
Wait lol did I hear the Dancer of the Boreal Valley's theme from DS3 while you were talking about MOTD???
Probably, knowing me.
The staffs alone tell me that
THE HELLCRACKS ON THE FLOOR I'M DEAD
So, I haven't played Zombies since World at War's Nacht Der Untoten. I bought Black Ops 3 with the Zombie Chronicles on the Xbox just to play Zombies. Needless to say. It's been a long time since. With the new stuff about this game mode. I have no idea what I am doing if I am honest. Videos like this are why I decided to get back into this game mode. I guess I can say that I am fairly new to all this. In a way.
I never really had any issues with the dragon strike waves
It may be a bit of a surprise the first time around and may catch you offguard but i think it adds replayability
The challenge is something I anticipate and prepare for
The biggest issue with it is the ammo distribusion
Just get yourself a gun with a lot of ammo and double tap
Use the shield's attack when you're cornered
Even if it doesnt have any remaining ammo
Go to each of the windows as they open and pay attention to where the zombies are coming from and dont let them even get passed the barricade
Dont use the max ammo at the pack a punch until the final wave
And you're good
It is a test of endurance but a welcome one to me with a good reward
I love these analysis vids so much haha
Btw this the best view point for a casual player
