    Being against proxies for a card game is being childish and elitist. If you want to collect is one thing, but you shouldnt be mad because others just want to play the fkin game

    • @BenTradingCards
      @BenTradingCards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’m NOT against proxy. As long as there’s a label on the card that says “PROXY”…I’m good with that. Proxies can be used by scammers to rob newbies. Proxies are fake cards. They should be labeled as such, just like a currency. No one wants fake/proxy cash without proper FAKE label on it. That is irresponsible.

    • @hugohaddad783
      @hugohaddad783 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BenTradingCards Indeed. But in this case, they aren't proxies, they're counterfeits. Counterfeits are fake cards, while a proxy can even be a piece of paper with the card name written on it.

    • @BenTradingCards
      @BenTradingCards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@hugohaddad783 I’m good with that piece of paper. But, there are sellers out there making near authentic proxy cards, which a newbie can’t distinguish. A proxy tissue paper is definitely a go for me.

      bad take. proxy is piracy if you use the proxies to play against others in a tournement

    Glad people are doing some research-
    I want to clarify - the TM could probably be easily replicated. However, the way the black print interacts specifically at inside pit of the “M” seems like it could be intentional.
    I think we can still find something more akin to the L dot.

    • @BenTradingCards
      @BenTradingCards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Black ink will definitely mix with the colored M, which can be obvious when printed on ordinary printers.

    • @KitchenTableTCG
      @KitchenTableTCG 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BenTradingCards Yep. Ordinary printers can be distinguished by easier means than a loupe though. (Surface and texture of the card)
      My concern isn’t my friend printing proxies. It’s China MTG proxies like on “Wish”

    • @BenTradingCards
      @BenTradingCards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wherever it may originate, these proxies are still imitations, unless there’s a cross label there as “Proxies”. Allowing it will just propagate more fake ones in the market and noobs will definitely fall victims. Just what Alan said that a person was selling proxies for MTG and still probably doing it till now. That’s why I don’t agree with it. If someone can’t afford high end cards, there are ways to play and have fun like pauper. If some LGS allows this to happen for short term benefits, then this will be difficult to purchase high end cards long term. It’s just like I’m playing in casinos with proxy/fake $10,000 tokens. I don’t think they will let me win.

    Identifying from the card back can lull you into a false sense of security. The card could be rebacked or printed directly on a blanked real card.

    • @BenTradingCards
      @BenTradingCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s difficult to detect. But maybe it will have different texture.

    • @godschirah2965
      @godschirah2965 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, not the back, since it would literally be ripped of an official card.

    • @godschirah2965
      @godschirah2965 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, obviously, if you just bought a 150€ Skullcap, you probably don't have an original lying around to compare it to, but I believe comparing the backs should only be one step in your procedure of identifying counterfeits. Otherwise you give counterfeiters the tool in hand to scam you more efficiently.

    Does a print run of unlimited WTR exists where the colors of the ink are a little bit brighter and the corners of the card are rounder? Because I have a valuable card with a brighter back side, clearly visible at the red color of the "Flesh and Blood" letters.
    The "TM" is not missing and it has the same size and position as on every other FaB card. Just the brighter ink makes me unsure if the card is fake or not...

    A fabled card is 1 in 960 packs. Dude. That's criminal. The fact that legendary and fabled are the strongest cards. Forcing us to spend hundreds if not thousands to keep up with the meta buying the rarest cards none of us can afford pull from packs let alone easily buy.

    Sorry, but the whole discussion about counterfeits is ass backwards. I understand why companies can't endorse their use in tournaments officially, but they are a great liberator for the poor.
    Your social status and monthly income shouldn't decide whether you can participate in a tournament, your skill in the game should.
    With FaB having cards costing up to 500€, that is obviously not the case.
    Selling counterfeits to unknowing people is a scam plain and simple. But buying counterfeits to use them in tournaments is NOT to be compared, ethically.
    Be happy that you can afford originals. They hold value and can be resold. Counterfeits can not, or at least not without being scummy and running risk of being exposed and held accountable legally.
    Don't judge people less fortunate than you, trying to compete in the game, because they use a loophole to equalize the paygap.
