Conan is absolutely brilliant. He is universally funny, which gives him mass appeal... but he's incredibly intelligent, which hooks a listener or other entertainer in like a moth to a flame. He's driven as hell and a great person under the facade of fame. He's my idol, he's hilarious, he's a champion of comedy.

It’s starting to make more sense why Howard was so upset when Conan lost the tonight show, you’d think it was Howard who was losing his show
Howard was just taking conans side and sucked up to letterman because he had beef with leno

Lately, I've been on a "late night history" kick and listening to interviews *of* Conan are among my favorites. The man is so engaging and sincere and well rounded and, yes, funny so this comes as no surprise to me.

I definitely love the fact that Conan is very aware of the world changing quickly around him and he tries to adapt to it. Like I doubt many people in positions like he's in realize that traditional television is on its way out and that things like streaming and gaming have taken over.

I mean Kimmel is pretty "real" Fallon and Meyers however...it's patently obvious they came from the SNL scene and they are far from late night host "feel". Fallon is lucky he has The Roots and all the wacky games because without those two things he'd be just like Seth Meyers.

his writing was pretty much the only funny bits on that show, it's a dumpster fire of cameos and unfunny skits now.

I've been a conan fan for DECADES so I've listened to MANY of his interviews. This interview is sooo memorable because its rare when an interviiwer can show a new facade of Conan after all these years in the spot light.
He has a degree from Harvard and a high IQ, and he uses the knowledge to make people laugh, that is what makes him the most unique

It was a really good interview and it showed how Howard evolved as an interviewer. In the 90s, he spent the interview trying to bash Conan and trying to entertain with barbs and jokes. The 2015 interview was a legit connection and entertaining as hell. Amazing to see how comfortable Conan was in both settings.
I idolized both of these guys as a kid so great to see them coming together in such a profound way.
Conan blows me away every time he opens his mouth. He’s awesome!!!!

This is so exciting as a fan of both of them. It's been a long time since I've listened to their interview (will again tonight), but I remember how much fun it was to see these two people from worlds that I always felt were so separate, come together. Upon hearing this news, it serves to not only justify that excitement, but also takes it to an even higher level.

Conan is an amazing guy! He is so easy to interact with n he is funny n complementary in almost every conversation. He isnt afraid to say funny things n to make fun of himself. I wanna learn to b more like this guy!
Conan is also a staff guy first. He came up through t.v. and knows everyone's role, and uses that empathy to keep his staff employed and working through several situations (the move to L.A., the loss of TONIGHT, the live show, TBS, and the switch to the podcast empire) that any other host would have left the staff to fend for themselves. Even pre-recorded a ton of interviews in anticipation of the writers' strike.

Gotta love Howard and Conan, both use their support to the maximum, a huge team/crew to make their job as simple as possible, yet both excel way past the sum of their parts, a spark of genius that most only see three or four times in life when everything falls in place and you feel on top, yet they see this most days.
Even funnier both were slightly nerdy awkward interviewers up to the millennial years (only good thing that came from that era).
Conan's best interviews must be Norm.. 🤩
Both have limited appeal. Which is why one is on satellite radio and the other is doing a podcast.

Howard hated Johnny a lot, he used to talk crap about him all the time.
Love Conan. He's a brilliant man. Super intelligent, super interesting, super funny and yet super humble.
The two late-night hosts I gravitated most toward are Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson and I think it's because they did something on their programs that takes an exceptional amount of guts: they were themselves. Even the great Johnny Carson seemed to be this enigma that no one, outside of an exceptionally small number of people, could really pierce. I don't have a cable hook-up anymore so I will not see his last telecast this summer but I do wish him nothing but the best going forward. He is one of TV's most underrated broadcaster.

From having a farewell party for Conan like "yay your trash show is going off the air" without knowing him, to years later being his favorite guest of all time. What a time to be alive. I still re-listen to that 2015 interview

Two unlikely people connecting is always cool. Conan is the absolute comedy MVP in my view and seems to be genuinely humble. His podcast shows how true that is.

For a while I could listen to the Howard Stern show via my podcastplayer. But after a year they unfortenallly removed the show. But during that year O grew to love the good interviews the dunny and often wery intense interaction the host hos gueast and the staff. I realy need to get my hands on the show again. He is the only American talk show host who, behind all the fame and US censorship, seems to be a real guy with real opinions and all that. He does his show with so much integrity, and he has this great balance og comedy and documentary (with his remotes especially) which is very unique. I hope he keeps going till the end

Conan was the best late night shown host in my opinion. He always knew what the guest needed and it just seemed organic. Whenever had Norm on he knew just how to make Norm better. That's not just skill, it's serious talent. Carson was able to do that too but Conan wasn't as picky
I haven't seen a ton of Howards stuff but I think this is the first time I've ever seen his eyes.

No doubt! I have heard that interview at least 4 times over the last few years. I feel like Conan had a similar profound connection this year, when Stephen Colbert guested on his podcast.
