After my CABG x2 I took the rehab class. The nurses were great and listened to my questions.

@@haydnw869 I am so sorry bud, that is so sad to see young people going through health problems, but OHS is a good thing too, it will keep you alive longer and you and I will feel much better afterwards, or six weeks later it sounds like.

@@TWHISPERER well I’m out of the hospital now and whilst I am recovering I found out I have a rare condition and the surgeon said they don’t know if the surgery will improve my condition or if it just stopped me from dying and the worst part is that my problem is genetic so in a decade or two I’ll still need a new heart

My husband had 5X CABG open heart surgery 4 days ago and we are already home. That's why I'm asking for advice from anyone willing to help...
#1- why would his neck and shoulder swell on the right side, (the side of the central line) and what to do about it
#2- any advice for a life long stomach sleeper because he can't do that now
#3- if he gets too hot, (not exercising, just because it's summer) is that bad on the heart, and why
*Any other advice will be greatly appreciated as well as prayers for a fast recovery
    Thank you all in advance,
Worried wife/caregiver of 60 year old CABG X5way open heart surgery patient

Try to get him an air conditioned room. Ask his surgical staff about his neck or any other questions.

After surgery the pain is imaginable. 3 weeks after Is still painful chest wall , neck shoulders, back ribs and lungs. They down played the whole recovery. Unless ,they mess me up during the surgery. Also , the only pain medicine I'm allowed to take is Tylenol Here in Canada maybe different care ,but let me tell you the pain is unbearable and I am on my own basically

Call your surgeon and doctor and complain you should be on some opiates for two weeks after surgery. Complaining bitterly on pain scale only way for you to get stronger meds. Be a total pain call every day. It's ridiculous for you to be in so much pain. Don't give up.

Honestly the important things are your chest will feel super tight and sore and you’ll be coughing up a lot of Flem because your lungs will have fluid in them and honestly that was the worst part.
You also might feel sick because you’ll still have wires in you and it will upset you
