    I normally wouldn't comment this but I hope it's helpful. I watch beauty videos and used to be so influenced to just buy buy buy. I ended up filing bankruptcy for over 50k. To be honest I barely use any of the makeup I bought. I hardly buy anything anymore and I appreciate you letting us know you are human and used to have a problem also. I really regret most of my purchases and wish I could go back and have the small collection I used to have before I had an overspending problem. I am happy to say that is no more since a few years ago. I have all this makeup and am so overwhelmed. Anyone experiencing the same thing you are not alone and can take your life back. Love you Hannah!

    Since I've haven't used my lipsticks in almost two years because i wear a mask for work every day I've been using them as blush because I don't want them to go bad before I can use them and WOW I haven't touched my powder blushes in la long time, I love how they look and how easy is to blend and build them. I think I'll never go back.

    I remember several eyeshadows in the 90s being marketed as usable wet or dry, but I don't recall nearly as much of that since then. I remember years ago, a friend who is close to a decade younger being surprised that I was wetting an eyeshadow. I think plenty of people hadn't heard of doing that because shadow products weren't advertised that way in the aughts and later!

    I always clean all of my art and makeup tools with the same care and cast with aloe vera. I’ve had the same supplies for over a decade but just recently been interchanging some of my older natural hair eye brushes as paint brushes; they’re perfection. My heart resonated with using makeup like art supplies.
    Thank you for sharing this technique as it has a cream eyeshadow aesthetic.

    It’s refreshing to see a beautiful young woman promote fresh makeup looks 💄In the 80’s I used to add water to my shadows to get the browns/black to stay put as liner, it had a softer look. I am definitely going to try some “sneaky balm”. The name alone is fun 🤩

    I usually do this technique by picking the eyeshadow on my finger and then spraying that finger with water and smearing it on my eyelids. This way doesn't require you to mix anything, though I guess you're mixing directly on your eyelid. Gives a similarly watercolored look!

    I absolutely love your channel, and adore listening to you speak, Hannah. Something I struggle with is the makeup removal/end of day skin cleansing process, and I would love to hear your advice (and see a video) on this process! I also have bangs, and the trick of pinning your bangs down in a curl shape which you mentioned in your previous video is genius! What do you use to keep your hair/bangs from getting wet? How do you cleanse and wash your face without getting water everywhere and getting yourself all wet? I'm sure these questions sound silly, but it's something I'd really appreciate to know as I've come to despise (and avoid) this part of my day. I want to get to a point where I enjoy my skincare process and it becomes a self care ritual, but the process of my bangs and hair getting wet and messed up, getting water all over my arms/body and sink, having my back hurt from leaning over the sink (I have a bad back), etc, has made it an unpleasant experience and something I'm wanting to improve! Thank you in advance! 💕

    • @HannahLouisePoston
      @HannahLouisePoston 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I almost always pin my bangs back like I showed in that video, and I ALWAYS use a thick microfiber headband to push all of my hairs away from my face and protect them from water. I like these ones: rstyle.me/+1EbWN6EaWiDa5CYM0-eCkA because they are wide and soft. I usually wash my face in the shower at the end of the day, wearing one of these headbands and keeping the shower head angled down so that it hits me at shoulder height so that I can keep my entire head out of the way of the water when I'm showering. Then I just stand there and wash my face. I find it much easier to motivate myself to cleanse my face thoroughly by doing in the shower (even though it's not necessarily recommended if you like a hot shower, it's worth it to me). I hope this helps!!

      For face washing, I find that using an oil based cleanser first, to get off eye and face makeup, works really well (I like DHC Deep Cleansing Oil). Apply it to a dry face and rub gently around, then take a cloth (I like Eve Lom muslin ones, but a wash cloth or microfiber also work) and wet it in warm water, squeeze out so it’s not dripping and place over your face for a few seconds and then wipe off the oil cleanser. Rinse and and repeat as needed until it comes away mostly clean. Then after, with your skin still damp, apply a water based cleanser and use the well- rinsed and squeezed cloth to remove that second cleanser, repeating until your face is clean. This method will not only get off all your makeup, but will help keep you and your sink area from becoming a wet mess. Hope that helps!

    • @LaJessChelle
      @LaJessChelle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also use a wash cloth… I got some on Amazon that are microfiber and are amazingly soft. I use it to dampen my skin and remove product. I hate water everywhere and dripping down my arms as well… and can avoid this when I use my cloths! :)

    • @emmaherman1819
      @emmaherman1819 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      THANK YOU for mentioning the sink thing. I don't know why I always thought that everyone else somehow had it together enough to not get water everywhere while still properly cleaning your face. Normalize splashing!

    • @sallyjordan4869
      @sallyjordan4869 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always use a washcloth, too. I use a soft microfiber one, which feels soft and pampering, gently exfoliates my face, gets off allllllll the make-up (on days I wear make-up, I do a double cleanse, first with a foaming make-up remover and then with my usual cleanser), prevents splashes, and keeps me from having to bend over the sink. I also use a cleanser whose scent I adore (Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple), and I listen to a podcast or audiobook while I do my cleaning and skincare. All this is my way to enjoy the process and make sure I take good care of my skin while helping me wind down.

    For using eyeshadow with water: I do something similar with my setting spray. Sometimes I spray some in the mirror of the pallet or any little dish I have, and then add some eyeshadow into it (with with a brush or scraped). If, for anyone else, you are scared to mess up your products, I mainly use my drugstore products this way, so then I don't feel like I'm wasting money lol. It's how I turn eyeshadow into my brow product, get metallics to actually look metallic, get glitters and shimmers to show up easier. So much fun.

    This past summer I purchased the Kosas 10 second eyeshadow in Globe... and despite the hype I could NOT get it to work. It separated in the tube despite vigorous shaking and separated on my lids. I tossed it. Two weeks ago I saw that the old formula was being discontinued and I decided to give it another try. I purchased a set of the old formula and it performs like a dream. It reminds me of the look you got with the water/eyeshadow mixture. So blown out and beautiful. ❤️

    Just thinking about scraping up some of my eyeshadows to use them wet makes me super nervous, but it looks so fine. 👌 I have one palette that has a few shades that have gone hard on top and I'd have to scratch it up nonetheless, so I could try it with this one. I also still have a few pigments, I haven't really used because I didn't know how to go about them without making a whole mess. I'm not touching my Mothership like this but I'd like to try this with a palette, where it wouldn't hurt so much if I mess it up. That shine is so mesmerizing. 🤩

    You look gorgeous as usual! Now I have to go play with eyeshadows as watercolors.🥰

    So I know pink shadow isn't normally your jam, but I love the monochromatic look you've built today for sure. And watching you play with wet shadow is very inspiring, but I hesitate because of my mature skin/hooded eyes. I know that shouldn't keep me from playing, but my energy is such that I want my playtime to count too.

    I wonder if the eye shadow with water mixture is the idea behind flower beauty's watercolor eyeshadow....

    Hi new subscriber here! I'm loving your content, thank you for being so informative and also for being very conscious in regards of sustainability and conscious consuming. I've seen enough videos to hear that you have dry skin! I do not, but i'm prone to dehydration and I struggle a lot with acneiform dermatitis due to probably rosacea or perioral dermatitis, and I wanted to recommend you a brand that changed my life in the hopes that may be it changes yours? Its called Malezia, right now they have a urea moisturizer which I love, as someone with extremely sensitive skin I no longer exfoliate (I'm 31f) but I find that this moisturizer doesn't make it necessary! They also have a benzoyl peroxide gel, and are in the way to come out with a oil cleanser and an azelaic acid with niacinamide treatment!!! They launched last year and haven't spent anything on marketing, they are pretty much a cult brand, they are planning to rely solely on solar power by the end of this year, their packaging is sustainable, and they donate 1% of their earnings to 6 NGOs that flight climate every month! It would be lovely if you give it a try! If i'm using a treatment and I feel like i need an extra punch, I mix 4 drops of squalane into my moisturizer and that does it for me :)

    No-Buy Question: I have a base product I was super excited about and got in January. I'm easing into mine, but I still want to do an 80% reduction in the makeup and skincare I purchase. I was super excited about this base product, the Kosas Tinted Face Oil, but it pills with my moisturizer no matter what I do. I think it's because of silicone. I've been wearing it with a little face oil under but I adore that moisturizer. I'm torn between still wearing it with the little face oil I have left and potentially getting another moisturizer or oil to go under it, or getting another base product that might work with my moisturizer. That was long but does anyone have insight or advice?

      If your moisturizer works for you and you love it, I would say get a different base product! Skincare is the more important to me!

    I have a question. If you mix something the Blitz Astral shades with water what happens when the water evaporates? There is nothing to hold them in place once dry, so do they start to fall out? I love my Midnight Sun, but the Astral shades are my least favourite because they are so messy, even with primer or glitter glue they fall everywhere. I don’t like to look like a disco ball. Do they work better with water? Or how about mixing medium, does that hold them in place? I am trying to find a way to make those work for me, but have not found one yet, and honestly, so far I don’t get the hype. I love the mattes and shimmers but fail to see what’s so “special” about the Astrals. They are just chunky glitters as far as I can see.

    Hannah! I work in social services but want a better paying job that includes grant writing as part of the job description. Do you have any learning resources you could recommend me to? (Preposition)

      To which you can recommend me

      I started in grant writing by being connected directly to an organization that needed it. I wasn't trained in it, but I did have a degree in writing, and I've learned as I've gone along applying what I already knew. So I can't really help with a suggestion for a class or something. If you are a strong writer and you know how to organize information so that it makes the most possible sense, you can do it :) But I do suggest thinking about what kind of grant app work you want to support and learning about that field (for me it's environmental activism). If you decide to do grant writing assistance for social-services-related things, like helping people apply to get grants for social programs, I bet that you are already more qualified than you think!!

      @@HannahLouisePoston thanks so much Hannah, I really appreciate the feedback! I ideally want to move into a director position which usually includes grant submissions for the organization and its projects. Maybe what i can do is talk to my boss, who is the director where I work, and ask if they'd give me that responsibility to help with an upcoming renewal or a new submission!
