When this game came out, they didn’t know the end was eminent. When NR2k3 came out, they knew it was the last one so they threw the kitchen sink at it to make it last. Being said, it’s still a great game
If you have the setup, iRacing is the modern NR2003 made by the same folks. I still hold NR2003 and Heat 04 are the pinnacles of Nascar gaming (outside of iRacing) and they’ve been downhill since.
Nr2002 can't have multiple series like nr2003 can, but there are paint schemes aplenty, mod tracks, etc. I do t know of the Robert cage site is still up but his site had the greatest mods. Robert even helped with us keeping nr4 alive as lng as we did.
I love how in this game Derrike Cope drives the CLR #57, and in Thunder 2003, it was Kevin Lepage. Fun fact, both drivers drove for multiple teams that year, and both drivers only actually drove that CLR car in one race each
@@MarkOliveras215 oops, my bad 😅 thought both were in 2002 lol But they did both make it into their respective games with only one start in that car, which is still hilarious to me
Also a few things 1. John st John, the crew chief and/or spotter voice. Yes. That John st John 2. The car setup doesn't change the AI at all, it is only or your car. From memory and other Papy titles, ast is fast but on the edge, easy is slower but more controllable. And 22 gallons goes by quickly.
For some reason the Papyrus games excluded Ganassi (Sterling Marlin, Jimmy Spencer in 2002, Jamie McMurray and Casey Mears in 2003), but you have random back markers like Carl Long lol
I've been slowly getting back to NR2003. As much as I love sim racing, one thing I like to do is run 50 or 100 laps at Bristol or Martinsville with cautions and 95~110 AI difficulty. At that point it becomes a race of attrition. It gets chaotic and fun. So that could be a silly idea for a future video
I'm missing quite a few NASCAR games since I collect them all physically. Don't have this one yet, just NR2003 and NASCAR Racing 2 with expansion disc. Also have NASCAR Legends.
I LOVED this game when I was little and always preferred it and NR4 over NR2003 due to the nostalgia + yes you can mod this and it’s predecessor just like NR2003. Did it a lot growing up by putting missing drivers into the game along with the alcoholic and tobacco sponsors. Not to mention the only thing they screwed up in this game was not reflecting the Sears Point name change to Infineon although there was a file where you can update it to the name change but you have to be careful on how you do it otherwise it’ll crash the track and you won’t be able to use it in the game any longer unless you reinstall and try it again. Didn’t expect this out of you today Millad! Brings back old memories of my childhood in Michigan in the Lenore House when I’d go on this game and screw around! Good stuff! And yes, I will be be playing this game on my channel too once my equipment is finally superior as part of my upcoming Sports Fanfic Trilogy where I change the History of San Antonio Spurs Basketball and NASCAR where in this game, I create a Universe where Sterling Marlin never gets injured at Richmond and Kanas and scores the 2002 Winston Cup Championship like he should’ve in real life! Looking forward to seeing more content of this game!
i believe your car gets fixed when pit road but i didn’t hear the hammers hitting the car sound when you came in they either might’ve added it in NR2003 or you didn’t have that much damage
I've been playing nothing but nr2003 lately and have just modded the crap out of it. The best part is you can adjust ai and track settings to anything you once you figure it all out. I got the new cars and new tracks and most important they race like they do now because I edited tracks, ai, and ai racing lines
I wish there was a update to those types of games like stage racing or double file restarts. If you like stage racing you can use it if not you can use classic settings
Both of those things are made just for chaos and entertainment purposes nowadays. This was back during a time of just pure racing and doing it flag to flag. And having lapped cars on the inside on restarts for chances to get a lap back. So it wouldnt fit.
Love the content. Cool to see old games. One piece of advice would be to not switch camera views so often when playing. It makes it kind of difficult to watch for viewers.
I don't care what anyone says. That 2002 Texaco car is still amazing looking, really. It is arguably one of the best looking cars in the field. That and I swear Ganassi's drivers were in NR2003? I'd have to go reinstall it and check under WINE
Can i offer a suggestion of moving your face cameras to the other side of the screen so it looks like your playing the game and not looking off the side of my monitor? LOL Keep up the great videos brother!
I like the video and I clicked the sub button, but I have 2 questions for you 1. How did you get this game and the 2003 game? 2. Where do I get the Bios from to play NASCAR Thunder 2004?
I mean I have a pretty crappy PC and I can run nr2003 and the next gen mod (which is known to lower frame rates) at around 70-80 fps per race with most settings at medium and some on high.
When this game came out, they didn’t know the end was eminent. When NR2k3 came out, they knew it was the last one so they threw the kitchen sink at it to make it last. Being said, it’s still a great game
It's the same as NR2003. The modding community is what made NR2003 better
I remember when they gave us project wildfire

@@stephenfisher4846 It was amazing to be a young adult when these games launched. was the perfect time to get into mods
As a representative for CLR I must say you gave our product more exposure than we ever did with that NASCAR
“Well your not the sharpest knife in the drawer” by the spotter was great

What was his webstie's name? I bet you can still find it on the Wayback machine.
This game was my childhood! Probably spent a good 10-12 years doing custom Championship Seasons & ended up becoming a 3-time Champion.

*Thunder 2004. The CLR #57 wasn’t in Thunder 2003 and neither was Kevin LePage himself alone

I loved this game. The car customization and replay theater were awesome.
19:15 Radman made it clear he was gonna wreak his way to the front, and he did, then he gave it all away
Also a few things
1. John st John, the crew chief and/or spotter voice.
Yes. That John st John
2. The car setup doesn't change the AI at all, it is only or your car. From memory and other Papy titles, ast is fast but on the edge, easy is slower but more controllable. And 22 gallons goes by quickly.
I didn't know Duke Nukem was my spotter!

If Dale didn’t die, he is in this game credited as the official Nascar champion and would retire in end of 2004 or 2005.

I just busted out the old sega saturn and played Daytona USA recently. Man how the times have changed.
I played this game all day long back there. So awesome.
The nostalgia! I only ever had a demo with Lowes/Charlotte Motor Speedway and I could design my own cars. Man the hours I spent playing it.
One my favorite nascar video game
the dw track videos are here on yt as well they are some banger videos and actually really helpful
7:16 Nope, this was the current Homestead, just slightly flatter, the rectangle was changed after 1996.
They really did pick some good pictures for the tracks 👌
Crazy that there wasn't a good nascar game after 2003
Me when it isnt nr2003:
Then me when i realized nr2002 was also amazing:
*sets to easy* "It's a very simulation style game"
Loved the editing on this one died laughing. Thanks for that.❤️😂

The game you threw all the weight in the back and held on for dear life for the first 10 laps.
Nice change of pace. Good choice, sir

Nice kick flip
Have you thought about doing a series on nascar thunder 2002
Guys how to remove steering assist pls help me
Was about to do a 15% race on nr2003 and I opened youtube for background music and then I see this-
You can press N to change the mirror
i believe your car gets fixed when pit road but i didn’t hear the hammers hitting the car sound when you came in they either might’ve added it in NR2003 or you didn’t have that much damage
I wore this game out! Way of head of its time that’s for sure
To be fair, Mark Martin did wreck on the pace laps in 2002

during the standings you can press space or whatever to get this other leaderboard that looks like 21 ignition i think
If you hit space on f2 in N4, 2002 or 2003 it acts exactly like f3 does in iracing
How can i download and set this up?

Is there a Hooters car
nice, would like to see you take a look at Sears Point, Homestead, or any other tracks that are different from NR2003's version
Its 60FPS because it seems like its locked to it

Your lack of patience during the pace Laps is strong lol
how good of a computer do you need for nr2002 or nr2003?
For NR2002 you can run it on a pretty low end PC. NR2003 is a little more intense if you max the resolution and textures.
