When she went to pursue her engineering from IIT we went to drop her and when me and my husband came back, it was very difficult for us . Can't say how we learn to live with out her. Parents go through this time with mixed emotions. On one side we are happy for our kids and on other side we are sad that they are moving away. The things that I remembered to add in list is a power bank, a chargeable table lamp in case there is any power cut, water bottle, a small flask, a plate, bowl and spoon, some airtight containers to keep any biscuits or snacks that she may buy or and last but not least a small idol Lord Ganpati to keep on her study table. May Almighty keep her safe always🙏
Pls send one saree blouse and petticoat for special events/ethnic day etc. Clothes pegs, family photo battery back up for phone, extension cord is a must! Will add more if I can remember, but this is from my personal hostel experience! Pillow bhi rakhna, 2 water bottle , plastic ki rassi, cloth clips, bathrobe , lock small, umbrella, small sling bag, to keep ur chabi money etc, u have to carry it with you every time you step out of ur room. My kid is also in hostel.
Can you also write you full name with a permanent marker on your clothes under the collar, or near the tags and also in your undergarments.. by doing that, there are leas charges of clothes being misplaced or stolen. Carry the following too: (sharing from experience) - Electric kettle for warming soup and water - Light induction & a vessel for cooking light food like daliya/ oats/ maggie/ soup as the cafeterias are not open 24*7 - Credit/ debit card to be always on u for emergencies - Small plastic shelves/ rack for organising ur items under the table or beside ur bed - Don’t even think of washing clothes except inners on ur own as around any hostels there are multiple laundries who provide washing and ironing services on kg basis or at least dearth cheap rates as they get mass customers. Also washing takes times and half the time we don’t wash and re-wear them cos jaan pe aata hai kapde dhone mien, also clothes get misplaced, drying rack mien turns lagana it’s a headache, so laundry bhaiya zindabad! - small light iron for emergencies - Mug, spoon, bowls, plate, glass in single/ two quantity each, laundry basket foldable, a small basket or dabba to hold ur food, a lock for cupboard You can buy stuff in Delhi or in your hostel city cos everything is available everywhere. Travel light from Delhi cos extra luggage Delhi me pay karne se achha hai k you buy there. Stay alert safe and have fun also. Most importantly, you can call me an old school for this but there would be waves of overwhelming emotions - freedom Waale feeling, fun, homesick, aloof/ negative due to groupism, cheap bachkaani politics etc etc. what will stay constant is family. Keep them informed about your whereabouts talk to them everyday without fail! You will miss them hate them there would be multiple phases but you’ll sail through and remember they will be going through emotions equally. Lastly, have fun Kashish and God bless you. From my own hostel experience i can tell you things get stolen so the most important thing she must have is a trunk with lock. You know those old metal trunks our grandparents used to have, those are basic necessity for hostel life. Please have electric kettle with ready to cook maggie, soups etc for midnight cravings Mosquito racket or mosquito cream..generally hostels are in open areas so mosquitos are a big issue Keep all meds with anti allergy medicine specially Keep a water filter jug, sometimes hostels have hard undrinkable water Bedsheets and pillow covers

Plz take iron which makes life eaiser extra pair of spects too. Hairoil and softening conditioner as water in south is hard. A liytle idol of bhagwaan to worship and prayers as we feel lil lonely away from home. Reema I lived in a hostel for 5 years. Some plates, her own glass, cutlery etc. maybe disposable after that she can buy whenever she needs.

Take some utensils also like plate bowl spoons and a mug or glass. Some empty small container or tiffin box. 1cloth for duster.

Reema hi mere beti k hostel Jane se phele Dec. Se January Tak sabhi rishtedar milane aate the ya ham log jaate the beti ko lekar aaj kashish ko jaate dekh Kar mujhe apni beti ki yaad a gai. Meri beti ne kaha mujhe main April mein aaungi ticket book kara Di lekin college se semester start ho gaye jiski date April first week ki hi thi meri beti ne bhi Socha tha main navratri Ghar per hi aao.
