When do you start to change the soil and add fertilizer? After the fruit grows to the size of a pencil eraser, or? When I have tried to put fertilizer, the fruit falls off, so I need to try something else. This year, my fruit are sticking, but no new leaves, and I worry that the tree will not have enough energy to keep the fruit if I do not fertilize. My trees are over 6 years old, but I like to keep them short (limited space). The way you water makes sense, since these trees come from a monsoon climate.

OMG! I live in LA too. I bought a grafted tree 5 years ago, and it is going no where. Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated (how to care for the tree)
@@cjlifevideo Yes, I have a small Sweetheart tree. I use it for scion purposes. I like the Sweetheart for having big fruit and having a small seed. But, the floral aroma is not strong enough for me. I prefer the flavor of Mauritius over Sweetheart. Both are very good though. That’s why I have both.
You can get a much better success with longans instead of lychees.. longans are almost similar to lychee same texture and flavor just that longans are brown skin .. longans due very well in zones 10 ..best of luck
Upwards of 10 years from seed...an air layer can make fruit in the next year from planting, but it will be weaker harvest and your better off pruning it a couple years then letting it fruit

@@cjlifevideo 很少吧 ，超市有卖的，基本上是进口的，而且价格很贵。查了一下 日本的荔枝只有1％是國內自產，其餘都是由台灣及中國進口，也因為進口荔枝都經過冷凍處理，導致吃起來的口感及新鮮不如當地自產的荔枝。
