I've used the stihl GTA 26 Pruning saw since June 2020 and wanted to give an honest opinion on it. As you can tell by the thumbnail...I love it! Very handy and easy to use.

Last week I bought a Stihl GTA 26 as they only had one at the ACE hardware.
So I went to Lowes & bought a 'Craftsman' which was slightly larger, but $50 less expensive.
The Stihl immediately ran off the track. It did so about 3 times during a project of cutting apple tree limbs while the 'Craftsman' never ONCE slipped the chain off it's guides.
Perhaps the Craftsman won't last as long, but for the work we performed last week it was far better than the Stihl saw AND the battery lasted twice as long as the Stihl too.
I have noticed that even the cheap one we were given lasts longer than the Stihl GTA 26. This is definitely frustrating when you are trying to get things done. As far as the chain slipping off make sure when you tighten up the bar you pull the bar forward so the chain is tight against it and tighten the turnkey well. Usually that will work well.
Simply loosen the chain tighter, pull the bar forward a little bit, tighten it back up, make sure there is a little play in the chain when you pull it away from the bar. Not so much that you can see the bottom of the chain, just enough that it’s not too tight so as to burn up the bar. Been using big chain saws for 40 years. Not hard once you play with it a few seconds. Hope this helps.

Well i like to keep the bar lubed up good. Makes the chain run on the bar better. You want a good amount to keep it working well. Thanks for watching!

I’m waiting for this GTA 26 to come back in Stock here in the U.K....then I’ll get one.
Hopefully soon! They have said they got behind because of Covid and now trying to catch up. I am hoping to get an extra battery or 2 to have when one is charging. For a while I was worried they took it off the market.

Oh no Barbra, I know the places that I look up has pick up only. It can’t be purchased online. If you have a Stihl dealer in your area they should be able to help. Unless you have already checked with them. I hope they don’t stop making them, they are so handy.
They were backordered forever! Seems as tho some Stihl dealers are getting them in again. Supply chain issues and all. Just got mine this week!
To much oil?
I would rather have too much than too little. The saw would heat up and not work correctly.

From what I here they are hard to find till this summer. They have stated that they got way behind because of covid. They are slowly catching up😀
Do not move the chain with bare hands , it my be small but it is still a chainsaw
