He is still the best striker ive ever seen in the octagon the way he moves and the precision of his strikes is as good as it gets. Everyone in the ufc wanted to see him fail they hated the fact that he came out of nowhere and took over in away that no one thought possible. Their will never be another fighter like McGregor.

The shoulder shots and the use of the dirty boxing/clinch in that way was something special to witness, Id never seen that before. it was highly effective ...only thing close i can think is Shane carwin Vs Frank mir and those short rabbit-like shots Mir took.
It must be the cumulative effect of the strikes adding up quickly that causes the concussive damage. If hit by a just a single shoulder strike I don't think it would be foreful enough on its own, to have such a catastrophic effect. Cowboy looked like he couldnt shake it off, after them shoulder strikes landed, he had a look on his face and reacted like he just got eyepoked , he was confused for a second like a delayed dizzy spell that was totally unexpected.
I also think 100% Cowboy was still rocked from the shoulder bashing when he threw his high kick.
When cowboy himself got headkicked and backed up and then began to fold over and cover up , McGregor hit him with this left hand shot , first left hand thrown as cowboy was going down, and it looked frighteningly powerful.

The thing is people have been using shoulder strikes for a while just not a lot. You know that's something he practiced specifically for this fight. probably saw when cowboy goes in a clinch he rests his head high on the top of the shoulder and left it open. Credit to him and his camp, that was really well scouted and thought out. Can't be easy to generate any kind of power behind your shoulder like that.

You are right Jonathan, It's not so much a matter of Cowboy being 'Over the Hill' as many are saying, it's more about Connor getting his focus back and shaking off the ring rust, showing that he HAS RETURNED and has overcome getting submitted by Khabib and ready to compete for Championships again! Now what I would like to see is that Connor has worked on his ground game and improved his cardio and stamina because that would make him a more complete fighter and he will need that to go along with his precision striking in order to beat the best like Khabib, Tony, Masvidal, and Usman.

That's what throwing a fight looks like. Cerrone wasn't knocked out by that kick he was conscious and just seemed to lay there waiting for the fight to be stopped. Look at Connor's kick closely, only his toes hit Cerrone. A hard kick? Sure, looks like a kick I wouldn't want to be hit with but not a fight-ending kick and as everyone can plainly see Cerrone was not knocked out or stunned. He had all of his wits about him and used all of that energy to ball up and wait for the fight to be over and done. Herb Dean waited a very long time before calling the fight. Not one attempt was made to do anything other than cover and wait. No trying to get up, no going for the ankle, no trying to intercept a punch and pull guard, no trying kicks from the ground to create distance, not even an attempt to grab the cage or something to get himself up. He was not unconscious but the fact that Herb Dean decided to let the fight play out just made it seem like an unnaturally long time for someone to be completely conscious but not lifting one finger to fight back. Keep in mind that Cerrone has a black belt in Brazilian Jujitsu so he has a toolbox of knowledge about what to do when he hits the ground while still awake and functioning.
Sure, he had a bloody nose but that's not an uncommon thing to have happen when you're being hit in the face.
I'm sure the UFC paid him a premium amount to lay down. It is the conclusion of Cerrone's career so what better way to go out than taking one for the team and making a nice amount of money doing it. To be honest, I'd probably do it too. They UFC lied about Jon Jones so what makes anyone think they are anything but ruthless business people will to do whatever to make money? Everyone knows this but nobody is in a place to do anything about it. The UFC knows how a news cycle works, all they need to do is say nothing and wait 24-48 hours and everything's good to go.
