Man that volition check is one my favorite gaming moments of all time. They nailed how I personally think and talk to myself with that one. Absolute masterpiece

The conversation with the Scab leader is definitely one of the most vile things. While we can't be sure if its made up or if it really happened, the implication of the hundreds of "stars" on the dead guys body is horrible to imagine if just hearing about one was so bad.

It's the way of war. Psychos get an outlet to do their evil deeds. I've heard worse things happen in real life

I absolutely love the revelation that your skills (which up till now are essentially always correct when they succeed) have been completely and utterly compromised during your entire conversation with Klaasje.

I know it's 9 months late, but if you see this.. can you explain? I am intrigued but I didn't understand what you mean

@@MuntiOfTheAshThe main character is extremely attracted to Klaasje, who is also an extremely effective speaker. Because he's attracted to her, he is leaning towards lenient and favorable interpretations and observations about her - his skills are working for her instead of for him. By passing the Volition check, his willpower suddenly realizes this and sounds the alarm bells - you're compromised.

@@purpleisthesneakiest thanks for clarifying. I appreciate that you took your time to explain.

@@purpleisthesneakiest While attraction is part of it for Harry, Kim is also very compromised. She's a very skilled manipulator.

theres definitely a way to make kim wear the jacket. maybe it has something to do with a skill or something you did earlier in the playthrough. i had a playthrough where I convinced him to wear it but he said that if I take the FTW jacket off, he's taking the other one off permanently. so I played through the rest of the game without changing my jacket lol

    Gentle tips / reminders:
    inspect your ID with Kim,
there’s more to that lady browsing books near the bookstore.
    Thanks for this series

How is it that every single character is interesting, no matter how small their role? What god-tier writing is this?

It's always so hard to watch people be so, *so* easy and lax on Klaasje. Guess the game's doing its job well

i actually love how every skill has the same voice, maybe it's just me who finds it relatable, but in my head all my thoughts are expressed in my own voice, even when i'm arguing mentally from different points of view, maybe that's why i *assume* the skill's voice is also harry's voice
edit: it actually happened once watching this gameplay, i thought "omg that's such a silly joke" and immediately after i thought "geez, mapo's just having some fun playing a game, you're not a comedic professional yourself either" and realizing that was the most discoception moment ever

As a communist I can't stress enough how the game perfectly nails the culture of communism (naturally because the developers are communists). It's hilarious.

thought of a game designer : if you establish that every event/outcome has a nonzero chance of happening, then the player is less inclined to question when you make something happen theatrically (by design).
Disco Elysium literally tells you every skill check can fail or succeed, and thus you don't know what's truthfully random and what's secretly scripted from the developers.
the devs can literally create comedy by secretly making rolls fail or succeed against the odds, based on previous interactions.
essentially the devs have programmed theatrical direction, and covered it up with lies of randomness in the UI.
you're not playing the game, the game is playing you.
(speculation. I'm as blind seeing this game as you are. never got far)

As far as I know there’s only one check in the game that’s actually always a fail.

    • @ravan9352

Every check is legit, there is only one that always fails and for a good reason.

    • @gimpscam9976
      @gimpscam9976 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It doesn’t take much for the small small checks to succeed or fail, like one piece of clothing can determine that. You’re right in a way but it seems like it truly isn’t scripted at all.
