It's amazing how much we guys can do once the the missus goes away for a few days lol. Let's hope the oil leaks have gone away now the new sump is in. Diff gaskets, I learnt not to use them... Well most of Australia doesn't use them, we just run a thin bead of sealer and lightly torque the bolts, let sit for 30min then torque to spec as usual. Are you going to rear disk Maude or don't find it worth while ? Great video as usual 👍
When Cat's away Marcus can play! . . . . . but I think my sink is broken!! Ever since Cat went to Vegas I put my plates and cups in the sink as normal, but when I wake up in the morning THEYR STILL IN THE SINK!!! . . . . . . I have no plans to rear disk either of my Escorts but u never know. I would like to fit a hydro handbrake to Maude (still hooked up to the drums) and see what its like. Iv got a feeling it wont be great and that might make me want a rear disk conversion with a seperate caliper for the handbrake.
A bit of advice for you buddy. Use paint stripper to remove stubborn gaskets it just eats them. Loctite also make a good gasket remover. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes etc and on your skin. Keep up the good work.
Sweet, that sump design is loads better mate. A tip for the diff paper gasket is if they have shrank to soak them in water for a while. All the best, Steve

Liking those spreader plates on the sump my original 1.8 cvh sump had a similar plates for the different bolt patten cvh to zetec, Will be looking at a neil dunn sump soon.. Great progress...

What's the torque settings on these sumps? I wince when he used the impact driver, then again I'm only used to Xflows. Which are virtually finger tight...
Paul Richard Kida 16ft/lb mate. Seems a bit much but that’s what the sticker says. I just used the gun to nip them up, then I torqued them with the torque wrench, my gun is just a mini one anyway. :)

'Maude' is running a 4.1:1 diff. Its very revvy and negatively affects the top speed of the car but Im all about acceleration so its perfect for me, especially with the longer first gear kit installed in the gearbox. :) . . .Id love to see ur ST170 100E! :) Feel free to send some pics in a message to my facebook page facebook.com/marcushayesford . Reminded of long washer things on Pinto can cover to spread the force.
Fingers crossed the sump wont leak now. :) The 1800 cvh bolt pattern is very similar to the zetec one. some people use the 1800 cvh sumps on zetecs.
I remember those When I had a pinto. They worked well.
Good idea using the spreader plates and torquing them up will give them even pressure so no worries about over tightening
I have still torqed them to spec but Im hoping they will cure my sump leak issues. Fingers crossed. :)
