When we have REST API callout for inbound and outbound integration why do we need to use Salesforce connect and when to use these? Also when should we use platform event for integration?

Rest API callout will be a program approach and use to copy or refer the data from external system
Salesforce connect will be used to virtually access the data without coding

We create an External Lookup Relationship between External Products and External Order Details using the Product ID field. External Order Details is the child object.
