He drove an electric scooter on the pedestrian sidewalk, not a 'kickboard', unlike he initially stated. 2. According to the police, yes, police, not media, in his first conversation with them, he stated that he had just a glass of beer, but it was later found that his blood alcohol level was 0.227%, far beyond the driver's license suspension threshold of 0.08%. 3. In his first public statement, he said he drove an electric kickboard, but today, he admitted that it was actually an electric scooter. 4. One media outlet, JTBC, apologized for mistakenly showing CCTV footage of someone else, not SUGA. Please also note that it's not me, but the voices of some BTS fans who demanded SUGA's departure from the group due to his initial response to the public. The word "dishonest" in the video was not also mine but the actual language used by these fans. The fact that I have to defend myself here from harsh comments in relation to my video exactly highlights how intense the fandom surrounding K-POP stars can get... I hope you will refrain from making false or hateful comments here. Finally, note that I love and respect BTS, as they're the pride of Korea. So don't assume that I'm against them or trying to tarnish their reputation. Please watch the entire video, so you can focus on the message itself. Thanks.
I liked how you made your videos and the information you provided about SK. Now, as an ARMY, I am very disappointed with the misinformation about SUGA's incident spread by K-media. So in your video, the problem is that most "facts" are just unproved and unofficial opinions, not documents or official announcements by police. That said really with no anger or what else. The claim that SUGA was very drunk so he fell unconscious on the road proved untrue: in the real CCTV, he is driving the electric scooter at a slow speed and in an impressively straight line. Yes, he fell because the turn to park in front of his house was very close, but he got up quickly. His only mistake was that he drank, but there hasn't been any official announcement, until now, to clarify the alcohol percentage in his blood or the number of drinks he had. Those who told SUGA to leave BTS, aren't real ARMYs. Probably are antis who found the opportunity to hit BTS cowardly when almost all of them (except Jin) are in the military. It isn't ARMY toxic and this is a fact based on its previous actions until today. ARMY is an enormous fandom of millions and millions all over the planet, so if it is as toxic as other fandoms of any country, every day would be full of scandals, tragedies, crimes, etc. That's why I must mention that it isn't the right example to prove the dark side of fan love, especially with this incident. Last but not least, this incident (which became a huge ridiculous scandal of the misleading claims of K-media for disturbing reasons that aren't the time to discuss) is still under investigation. So it would be the right decision for you at this moment, to take out the part about SUGA until the investigation is completed and the truth unveiled. Thank you for your patience.
Wow! Wow! I'm seriously intrigued now. I not a super fan of any Korean celebrity. However, I do admire work by several artists. I do personally find this fandom to be an insane level. I don't understand why these people do not have respect for another person's privacy and personal choices. Especially who they wanna date and marry. It is probably why my favourite actors are still single. Really sad.
I would like to ask again due to a recent publication by EDAM on criminal activities against their artists! What can I do as a foreign individual if I have personally learnt that a renowned artist's image is being tarnished by criminal activities? There is no response to my enquiries to the artist agency in Seoul!

Thanks for this video its good to discuss both the pros and cons of the entertainment industry. I do find Korea's obsessive fandom hard to grasp at times and in particular the media in the incident of Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun which was tragic. In Ireland, which has produced world top music groups, singers and actors we have a culture where they can freely walk the streets without being harassed. It is also in our society if a "celebrity" gets too over-confident and cocky they would be put down very quickly by their own people. We don't hold these people on pedestals but are proud when Ireland is on centre stage globally from a country perspective. I grew up with boy bands eg, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, New Kids on the Block and even Bros in the 80s so can understand the hype with eg, BTS. Thankfully they were allowed to lead some sort of normal life due to the non-existence of social media and cameras everywhere!!! Keep up the work.
BTS are totally different from other boybands...they aren't popular because of that, there are more deep reasons, one of them is their lyricism and genuine and sincere attitudes....they don't even act as idols, and we don't see them like that, they are just humans for us who can also make mistakes but they have proved for over a decade that they are good and decent humans so this kind of incident doesn't make even a dent into their careers in our eyes..the issue is with the K-media that spreads fake news and twists the narrative to bully these celebrities....their Korean fans aren't against them as well, there were proof that the ones who sent the trucks were fans of other groups who are antis (we already know a lot of companies an groups were waiting for the military enlistment so that BTS popularity faded out but it didn't happen so they are trying this route now)...the media even has proof that it wasn't Army but they keep reporting it as such.....we are literally tired of this witch-hunt and can't even imagine how suga night be feeling right now
What was done to Lee sun kyun was a tragedy. I'm still angry about the pressure that was put on him that forced him to take his own life. What a waste.

Thank you for all of your hard work. I can tell that both of you take the time to put together quality videos, bringing attention to those things in life that you are passionate about. I have found both Kpop and kdrama to be very entertaining. Also, creators like Tzuyang who I admire for her hard work in doing something she loves in life. When I found out about her hardships in life it broke my heart. Tzuyang hid her bruises and injuries, from domestic abuse, and continued to give to those around her who needed help. Tzuyang survived and continues today creating videos that she loves. For all those creators, bloggers or artists out there who are going through hardships, always find strength in the fact that you are loved and cherished by more people than you know. The negatives always seem to carry the most weight because we are our worst critics and tend to listen to the negatives more than the positives. If a person is going through hardships, just remember Tzuyang who has found the strength to navigate through the hardships of life and become even stronger and more beautiful. Army is an international fandom and we support him every day because he and his members support and help us to grow positively. I’ve been a K-Drama fan for 5 years & I am so heartbroken at times when the actors I love to watch are treated terribly. It is almost like the general public has control over their lives & to me it is so wrong. For any artist, whether actors or singers, they should be able to date, marry, have children & enjoy the lives they’ve made for themselves, but unfortunately the fanbase controls this. Until something changes in respect to our favorite artists lives, the bad behavior will continue. I just wish every aspect of cancel culture would go away, we’d be so much better off if it did. Sadly love turns to hate & driven by a force unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Thank you for always giving the best information in each episode. I absolutely loved parasites lead actor. I’ve watched him in many other TV series and just loved him. I was shocked when I read of his death and the reason for it. Il y a beaucoup de violence en Corée liée à une éducation d'un autre temps. Attention je ne juge pas. Chacun voit midi à sa porte. By coincidence I am just finishing watching, "So I Married an Anti-Fan," which seems to reflect the sometimes overly extreme ardency of Korean fans. I often wondered why K celebrities are so secretive about their dating lives and this explains it. It truly is unfortunate and a dark downside of being a celebrity. They deserve to be able to date/marry whomever they chose without interference or extreme scrutiny, to make mistakes, and to receive forgiveness. As my father used to say, like everyone else, celebrities put their pants on one leg at a time. Great channel!

What im wondering is (though i started to understand the depth after your and some other videos) whether celebrities like Lee Sun-Kyun, who were accused of some criminal behavior, but are not convicted of anything, feel they are absolutely ruined? I'm sure its tough being seen as imperfect, but yo feel it to such an extent to take your own life? I see a sea of imperfect celebrities in the West who pride themselves by being bad, notorious, smoking, drinking etc. Why can't a Korean celebrity be more laid back about their behavior? Interesting information and it is fascinating to see how popular globally K-Pop and Korean culture has become since I left Korea in 2014. I do miss the Korean movies of the early 2000s though. I know they were not the globally recognized movies of today, but there was something special and unique about the films like 달콤한 인생, 봄 여름 가을 겨울 그리고 봄, and 친구. I like to think those movies and Korean culture showcase during the 2002 World Cup helped open the world's eye to just how unique and special Korean culture is from the food, language, movies, music, and language. On a side note: my favourite Korean musical group is 크라잉넛! Haha - they always look like they're having so much fun performing!

This can be a good or bad thing for the idol or actress or actors because I believe fan end up acting like they a in control of theses people life. One problem saying who they can date and if they make a mistake the fans a very unforgiving which I believe is wrong that is the reason it is not a good thing to idolize anyone.
In the case of suga the fans aren't even against him it's the media twisting the facts in purpose, and even in Lee sun kyung case, the media were the culprits...I think the focus should be put more on the yellow press and all their fake news rather than on the fans... because most of these ppl had and still have ppl who support them but the thing that makes them lose hope is the smear campaigns and witch-hunt by the media that ends up manipulating public opinion
Wow, after watching the video and reading the comments all I can say is that Korean people seem to be so lonely in their minds - would you dedicate your precious time to someone you do not even know personally? Logically you should care the most about your family and friends but here the whole "fandom" thing goes waaay beyond reasonable behaviour. Who cares what Suga said about what he did? That's on him and his conscience. He's a regular human being just like any other with his ups and downs in life and moments of fear and confidence. Unfortunately for Korean haters, BTS does not owe anything to them as they become popular by international fans. It is the international army’s that supported BTS through and through. We ARMYs are not easily swayed by Suga’s mishap as we are human and subjected to failure. Those haters are definitely not perfect both in words and actions. As you mentioned, fandoms of U.S.-based stars are generally healthier because fans aren’t overly invested in their idols. In the case of Lee Sun-kyun’s suicide, it was primarily driven by his involvement with drugs and affairs, along with intense social pressure. As I explained in this video, the fandom that once supported him quickly turned into harsh criticism, which likely added to the pressure he faced.
@abitdifferentkoreans yes US-based and other Countries fandoms are not as devoted as with K-Pops fandoms. Fans don't spend so much money for their Idols like K-Pop fans almost spend as much as they can for their idols. For me that is very sickening already. The idols have more money than the fans doing the works for them. CRAZY mentality.

BTS are totally different from other boybands...they aren't popular because of that, there are more deep reasons, one of them is their lyricism and genuine and sincere attitudes....they don't even act as idols, and we don't see them like that, they are just humans for us who can also make mistakes but they have proved for over a decade that they are good and decent humans so this kind of incident doesn't make even a dent into their careers in our eyes..the issue is with the K-media that spreads fake news and twists the narrative to bully these celebrities....their Korean fans aren't against them as well, there were proof that the ones who sent the trucks were fans of other groups who are antis (we already know a lot of companies an groups were waiting for the military enlistment so that BTS popularity faded out but it didn't happen so they are trying this route now)...the media even has proof that it wasn't Army but they keep reporting it as such.....we are literally tired of this witch-hunt and can't even imagine how suga night be feeling right now
What was done to Lee sun kyun was a tragedy. I'm still angry about the pressure that was put on him that forced him to take his own life. What a waste.

Thank you for all of your hard work. I can tell that both of you take the time to put together quality videos, bringing attention to those things in life that you are passionate about. I have found both Kpop and kdrama to be very entertaining. Also, creators like Tzuyang who I admire for her hard work in doing something she loves in life. When I found out about her hardships in life it broke my heart. Tzuyang hid her bruises and injuries, from domestic abuse, and continued to give to those around her who needed help. Tzuyang survived and continues today creating videos that she loves. For all those creators, bloggers or artists out there who are going through hardships, always find strength in the fact that you are loved and cherished by more people than you know. The negatives always seem to carry the most weight because we are our worst critics and tend to listen to the negatives more than the positives. If a person is going through hardships, just remember Tzuyang who has found the strength to navigate through the hardships of life and become even stronger and more beautiful. I’ve been a K-Drama fan for 5 years & I am so heartbroken at times when the actors I love to watch are treated terribly. It is almost like the general public has control over their lives & to me it is so wrong.
For any artist, whether actors or singers, they should be able to date, marry, have children & enjoy the lives they’ve made for themselves, but unfortunately the fanbase controls this.
Until something changes in respect to our favorite artists lives, the bad behavior will continue. I just wish every aspect of cancel culture would go away, we’d be so much better off if it did. Sadly love turns to hate & driven by a force unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

I absolutely loved parasites lead actor. I’ve watched him in many other TV series and just loved him. I was shocked when I read of his death and the reason for it. While I love many aspects of Korean culture, societal pressures of what others think is not one of Korea’s finest points. What a huge loss and personal tragedy 😢

Actors should not be held to the same standards as politicians, who clearly affect the lives of the entire population. So so sad

Encore une vidéo claire et courageuse. Pour ma part c'est une façon de faire que je ne comprendrai jamais. Le fandom je veux dire. En Europe les artistes s'appartiennent. Tout ce qui va trop loin finit devant les tribunaux. Mais quand je vois des images de fans agglutinés filmant quoi on se le demande ,le dos de l'artiste sûrement, je ne peux pas m'empêcher de penser à un troupeau sans cervelle mais avec un portable. Et pour ce qui est de suga , à Paris des artistes saouls il y en a tous les weekends. Aucun n'a jamais fait une lettre d'excuses. La Corée est le pays de la contrition institutionnalisée. Pour une gauloise réfractaire comme moi ( c'est comme ça que nous appelle notre président) c'est tout simplement incompréhensible. Le rapport à l'argent est important dans cette histoire. Ils en gagnent autant qu'ils en rapporte à leurs agences. Et du coup il est plus facile de mener une foule qu'un seul individu. Regardez ce qui se passe avec Rowoon un supposé baiser avec une femme de 52 ans ( merci Rowoon de trouver belles les femmes de plus de 50 ans 😅)et c'est le scandale absolu. Les idoles devraient se rébeller si elles veulent se sauver. Mais je pense que plusieurs générations seront nécessaires pour faire bouger les choses. Il y a beaucoup de violence en Corée liée à une éducation d'un autre temps. Attention je ne juge pas. Chacun voit midi à sa porte. Moi je préfère voir la vôtre de loin,profiter de leurs artistes si doués et si beaux, profiter de leur dramas et c'est tout . Ce n'est pas réducteur mais nous avons aussi des problèmes de violence d'un autre ordre et n'avons de leçon à donner à personne. Le taux de suicide des jeunes est élevé aussi dans notre pays et les pays européens. C'est triste des sociétés qui abandonnent leurs jeunes et ne leur donnent aucun espoir.

By coincidence I am just finishing watching, "So I Married an Anti-Fan," which seems to reflect the sometimes overly extreme ardency of Korean fans. I often wondered why K celebrities are so secretive about their dating lives and this explains it. It truly is unfortunate and a dark downside of being a celebrity. They deserve to be able to date/marry whomever they chose without interference or extreme scrutiny, to make mistakes, and to receive forgiveness. As my father used to say, like everyone else, celebrities put their pants on one leg at a time. Great channel!

What im wondering is (though i started to understand the depth after your and some other videos) whether celebrities like Lee Sun-Kyun, who were accused of some criminal behavior, but are not convicted of anything, feel they are absolutely ruined? I'm sure its tough being seen as imperfect, but yo feel it to such an extent to take your own life? I see a sea of imperfect celebrities in the West who pride themselves by being bad, notorious, smoking, drinking etc. Why can't a Korean celebrity be more laid back about their behavior? Interesting information and it is fascinating to see how popular globally K-Pop and Korean culture has become since I left Korea in 2014. I do miss the Korean movies of the early 2000s though. I know they were not the globally recognized movies of today, but there was something special and unique about the films like 달콤한 인생, 봄 여름 가을 겨울 그리고 봄, and 친구. I like to think those movies and Korean culture showcase during the 2002 World Cup helped open the world's eye to just how unique and special Korean culture is from the food, language, movies, music, and language. On a side note: my favourite Korean musical group is 크라잉넛! Haha - they always look like they're having so much fun performing!

This can be a good or bad thing for the idol or actress or actors because I believe fan end up acting like they a in control of theses people life. One problem saying who they can date and if they make a mistake the fans a very unforgiving which I believe is wrong that is the reason it is not a good thing to idolize anyone.

In the case of suga the fans aren't even against him it's the media twisting the facts in purpose, and even in Lee sun kyung case, the media were the culprits...I think the focus should be put more on the yellow press and all their fake news rather than on the fans... because most of these ppl had and still have ppl who support them but the thing that makes them lose hope is the smear campaigns and witch-hunt by the media that ends up manipulating public opinion

Logically you should care the most about your family and friends but here the whole "fandom" thing goes waaay beyond reasonable behaviour.
Who cares what Suga said about what he did? That's on him and his conscience.
He's a regular human being just like any other with his ups and downs in life and moments of fear and confidence.
Leave the man alone and let him take care of his deeds.
And it would be really wise for all the fans to take care of their own lives instead of following someone else's.

Unfortunately for Korean haters, BTS does not owe anything to them as they become popular by international fans. It is the international army’s that supported BTS through and through. We ARMYs are not easily swayed by Suga’s mishap as we are human and subjected to failure. Those haters are definitely not perfect both in words and actions. We don’t demand BTS to be perfect as we aren’t.

On the topic of tragic consequences of Korean fandom, do you have any comments or insights on how that phenomena related to the suicide of Parasite actor Lee Sun-Kyun ?
As you mentioned, fandoms of U.S.-based stars are generally healthier because fans aren’t overly invested in their idols. In the case of Lee Sun-kyun’s suicide, it was primarily driven by his involvement with drugs and affairs, along with intense social pressure. As I explained in this video, the fandom that once supported him quickly turned into harsh criticism, which likely added to the pressure he faced.
@abitdifferentkoreans yes US-based and other Countries fandoms are not as devoted as with K-Pops fandoms. Fans don't spend so much money for their Idols like K-Pop fans almost spend as much as they can for their idols. For me that is very sickening already. The idols have more money than the fans doing the works for them. CRAZY mentality.
