That was great. Some confirming answers and some I need to apply to my playing. Also verification that I need more Gary Peacock in my collection!

Nice to hear the opinions from some of these amazing musicians, especially ones I've seen or played with.

Thanks, Mr. Thompson. I'm trying to put my organ trio skills together and this videos are helping me out to perfect my left hand bass. So much appreciated the info you're giving through this videos.

This was fantastic! And the pianist who mentioned the Shirley Horn trio and...those tempos...Yes! Loved the appreciation of Peacock, too, who played "inside" AND "outside "... I found it interesting that certain more current, truly excellent bassists, who are alive( the exception being Ron Carter ), weren't mentioned...Not quibbling with the righteously appropriate acknowledgements of Brown, Chambers, Jones, et al...I'm gonna throw some other acoustic bassists' names out there, randomly, just for the hell of it: Dezron Douglas, Rodney Whittaker, John Pattitucci, Scott Colley, Robert Hurst, Kris Funn, Matt Brewer, Orlando Le Fleming, James Genus, Joe Sanders, Marc Johnson, Ben Williams, Buster Williams, David Williams...and on and on...Thanks for another great video, which included some more of your excellent playing!

I hear too many notes is a problem and stick to quarter notes? This outlines what I don't like about straight ahead jazz.
