Yeah certain games shouldn't really be $60 I can just imagine how much more revenue would be built or stock would be actually sold out if certain things were $10 to $15 cheaper.
Maybe we should get it regardless, in order to get more Donkey Kong soon? It's not like I expect the quality and effort to carry over to the next thing. Not from this. 🤔
I think people are confused as to what “HD” means. HD essentially means that it is a port of an old game with better graphics, essentially making it a remaster of the game. Good examples of this would be Pikmin 1 and 2 remastered or Metroid Prime remastered. Remember, a remaster is *NOT* a remake.
well this remaster blows if the lighting effects and framerate are better in the wii og also with 2 examples you sited there is a big catch pikmin 1 and 2 dont really look that good but theyre priced appropriately prime remastered is the best looking switch game and its 50 bucks dkcr doesnt look that good, its even worse in some areas than the wii og and its 60 bucks, wtf???
yeah but he just showed you the initial announcement trailer of this looked even better with kong having fur and hero lighting, now looks more dull, port it all u want as just a upresed remaster no problem, but if u go ahead and show it looking better and then worse, that's a bit of a problem especially with the asking price of 60 bucks, should be 30 bucks tops
Except this looks the same or worse than the original Wii version. And the price is insane. If they sold a physical cartridge for $30, I'd buy it all day long. But not paying $60 for a digital download of a 14 year old game.
Nintendo upscaling the 3DS pprt of a Wii game, and asking for full price for it on the Switch, makes me think they're trying to kill the Donkey Kong franchise. -_-
A shame considering that the DKC games actually sell very well. Even the Switch port of Tropical Freeze sold over 4 million copies so this doesn't make sense.
Drop it to $30 and put it on a physical cartridge. Im a huge DKC fan and I would be all over that. Or they could bundle it with the original three SNES games on a cartridge and sell it for $60. But no way I'm paying $60 for a digital download of a 14 year old Wii game.
I'm not really that confused about it since it's pretty clear to me that the earlier trailer in the June Direct was a Early Build of the game using different lights to be more bright. The latest trailer is going to be the Final Build of the game and to be honnest i don't see much difference other than it's darker than the earlier build. I can still see a little of Donkey Kong's furr even if it's not that visible to a lot of people. I don't think it's gonna be a big deal because it's a remaster of a Wii game that use the Build of the 3DS version, the only thing a agree with is that it should have been at $40 instead of $60 because there's not much new content besides the 3DS exclusive levels
Well people already notice the downgrade in graphics the 3ds version was a downgrade since the 3ds was less powerful and had more content and them not playing any effort to make it look better than the 3ds version is embarrassing because it will be no different other than it looks exactly like it does of the 3ds but worse that’s what the did for Luigi’s mansion 2 I saw no damage in the graphics aside in gameplay from the cutscenes but it still looks like a 3ds game with upscale graphics but it’s don’t improve the visuals at all.
@mk8-mkwil117 I agree they could have put a lot more effort into this remaster but i don't think it looks bad for a remaster, i've seen way worse in terms of downgrade
I agree it would be awesome. But the original 3D assets used to render the 2D sprites are in old incompatible file formats and weren't that high-res to begin with (if they even exist anymore.) I would be in favor of recreating the original games using the tech from Returns and Tropical Freeze. They could even add some modern game mechanics and bonus levels to spruce it up a bit, while staying true to the look and feel of the originals.
@@jakeviolet2195 original 3d assets can be opened and its like vector it do not have resolution. It has poly count which was kind of high as it was only for 2d renders. Materials and shaders were basic and maybe only textures and animations has to be remade. Also you can remodel any time which would be necessary if you look at fur and hands.
Does no one care they even got the area around DK's eyes wrong in this game? It's supposed to be BLACK and skin-like, not the same color as his normal fur. The in-game model of the original got it right. You can call it nitpicking, but getting the face of your oldest mascot wrong is a bad sign
Remaster: Updated Graphics. Nothing Else. (This.) Remake: Redoing it from the ground up. Reboot: Changing the status quo on everything and/ormaking a new beginning to a game's story. Port: Same game, different system.
I think this game still needs more time. If the game comes out exactly like this we’re gonna need mods and to patch everything up or future patches too
When it comes to the cutscenes at least, I wasn't really expecting any major changes to them; from the get-go, I was just expecting DKCR but with a higher resolution. Sure, updated textures and whatnot would have been nice, but it's not exactly a deal-breaker for me... It IS weird that the gameplay visuals seem to have gotten worse since the previous trailer. Either way, if I AM going to get this game, it's so I can play it on my Nintendo Switch, if I get the game at all.
Not a real problem and not new. All game developers do this to some extent with their trailers whether it is game performance or graphic fidelity. This is clearly based on the 3DS version seeing as the extra levels are included. Also, please people, learn the difference between an HD port, remaster and a remake. You've had years to figure this out. There are even essay videos explaining the differences if you need it. This is the equivalent of complaining about vinyl interference in a lossless audio file or film grain in a 4K movie release. If you want to complain about the price then that is a different matter. But at the end of the day, no matter what your stance is, it's their product and they can charge what they want for it. It's your choice whether you want to buy it.
I've already got it for the Nintendo Wii, so I don't think I'll bother with this. It'd have to really improve on the original as well as introduce something new and spectacular. I'm just not seeing that here in these trailers. I feel like Nintendo tried to do us dirty by slapping a remake together with minimum effort, and this is them trying to damage control that.
This game, or Sonic Colors Ultimate? Pick your Wii poison. And no, Super Mario 3D All-Stars doesn't count, because at least Super Mario Galaxy looks as good as the original, if nowhere near close to the Nvidia Shield HD version.
I guess the reason why Nintendo is selling this at 60 dollars, is because previous remasters like Luigi's Mansion 2 HD have sold well at a higher asking price. And wanting to continue profiting off of them, they see no reason to cut back.
@@savaget2058 I don't know. I suppose I'm just guessing, because I'm trying to justify why Nintendo would consider doing this. Because if it isn't the reason, then there's really no legit reason behind it.
