Hey guys! I just posted an updated version of this concept, fixing some of the issues, as well as adding the 4 races! th-cam.com/video/6rlL7svy4IM/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, when I saw the pop drop to 1, I imagined as an old married couple in an old cottage by the sea, watching the sunsets together until it was finally time for them to go.
You make a good point, but i would imagine Stupid opens war on Genius because they don't understand what Genius is doing or something like that. I know this is a game, but IRL a nation of only stupid people would be the first to throw a fit for sure.
I'm surprised nobody commented on how cinematic Energized's fate was. They thrived and prospered, until one day they all died and the island transformed into a scorched hellscape. Even after hundreds of years, the island never recovered, and all of the major empires avoided it for the rest of the game like it was haunted by their tortured souls, still crying out in pain long after their civilization fell.
It would be an interesting experiment to run, if things were left to coast on one setting or the other, but it needs to be fixed and not adlibbed half way through.
I think this was a really cool concept, although next time it may be better to either just keep rebellions on for the whole game or keep them off before it even starts, cause turning off rebellions right after Genius shit itself basically just left Tough completely free to expand without any problems like rebellions of their own.
this is very true, they only got shat on cause rebellions only applied to them basically, and only after they were turned off did tough expand and then genius was fragmented into like 5 kingdoms and they destroyed each other
The Immortal Island seemed to take quite the existential, nihilist route on this one. Did nothing and hid away for over 600 years. I guess knowing that they could live forever, they believed that fighting wars, making friends, and exploring the globe had no real lasting purpose. Either that, or they became the ultimate procrastinators. “We got time. I’ll do something about it tomorrow.” When you have unlimited tomorrows, tomorrow never comes 😅
Definitely an idea worth trying again with what we learned on this attempt! Next time we'll leave rebellions off for the whole time, and probably start the islands with more people each since the mod I installed apparently makes repopulation require a male and a female (which obviously is how it should always work, but the normal game doesn't actually require that usually). Overall, it was still a good time! Thanks for watching!
You can change the settings by going to woldbox_Data/StreamingAssets/Mods and there should be a selectiveBreedingSettings json file there. Simply set RequireTwoParents to false. You can also change the chance for traits to be passed on from here(the standard is 50% chance).
Just occurred to me. Stones are required for seaworthy vessels because they act as weights along the bottom of the ship to protect it from being flipped by rough waters. The stone is effectively acting as ballast.
It makes sense that immortal stayed at 2. If you never die, the major aspect of necessity for reproduction is gone. Even if more people would be more useful, the trigger for that discovery wouldn't need to ever be met
and then at the end they kinda gave their land to tough and Tough just let them stay there out of Friendship and "Why not? Why shouldn't we just let them be?"
Gorg, do the same map, but there is 4 kingdoms in each corner of the map. Give them random traits with the same mod you have installed and watch them fight it out!!
There should be an option for traits to have a 100% chance of being passed down and another to disable random traits at birth for these kind of experiments.
I’d like too think the two immortal people was just happily enjoying their simple lives, having no want for greater populations or cities, just wishes to watch the sun go up and the trees grow and decay. I got pretty sad when they were taken over, forced into the vast empire of though.
This is such an interesting concept, and it is still really weird that tough, with all their negative traits was able to reproduce so much. And the lack of rebellions is also weird since they were one of the early expanders too. It honeslty seems that thr tough trait almost negates the negative traights like ugly and slow somehow, not to mention the obvious boost it gives to their soldiers
I think your issue with half of the kingdoms dying out is you only gave them 2 population. So there was a 50/50 chance they started with 2 woman or 2 men and couldn’t populate.
Gorg they can get above 50 or 60 pop despite the space they have because the more their culture advances and the unlock new things they can unlock new house teirs and upgrade the houses and that means they can fit more people
I wasn’t really meaning they would stop populating at 60, I just mean that’s probably around the point they’d be sending their armies out to take new islands instead of populating their starting one. But still! It is probably a lot more than 50 or 60 so you right
@@Gooorg Btw I believe a kingdom is destroyed when the last person dies. They can be anywhere, so even if, say, they're on a boat and their land is conquered, the kingdom won't die until they do.
Its important to notw that "genius kingdom" conquered, stupid, weak, and a couple other random trait kingdoms, which means that the majority of genius kingdom probably doesnt have the genius trait, or has a bunch of other traits mixed in.
The Genius trait makes your kingdom advance in Science and innovation, making the technology of the kingdom grow and develop stronger weaponry, so Genius could obliterate anyone even with the Bad traits
For the people to repopulate there is some rng(randomness) included so energized have some much more population in the beginning just means that they were lucky
Its because he has the Selection mod that only reproduce if there is 1 male and 1 female those who havent given birth once probaly got 2 males or 2 females
When spawning 2 people it doesn't give you a 100% chance it's gonna be 1 man and 1 woman. It probably was 2 men or 2 women which is why some of them stayed at 2 population.
One suggestion would be when you are spawning them in, start with the center island and then expand out in a spiral so it's more square rather than a long rectangle
I think the reason Genius fractured so much is because there were so many different groups with different traits. Tough kept together, partially due to turning off rebelion, but also because they had such similar traits... and paranoia is a bit-
I think a good idea might be to group some of the traits together like acid blood, touch and immunity or the fire variants and so on. Also evil with deceitful, bloodlusy and greedy. Healing aura with pacifist. Fast, tough and strong. King, mage, and dragon slayer. Genius and wise. slow, ugly and stupid. Maybe even giant, savage and ugly. Or tiny, attractive and pacifist For genomes. Fast, agile, eagle eyed. Venomous and venom immunity. Honest and content. The possibilities are endless
I really do like this island concept, I might run a few renditions of it myself and see what crazy combos I can come up with. If I find any crazy ones I'll be sure to leave a reply or comment :)
Definitely confused me why he kept rebellions on, got confused when a bunch of rebellions happened, then turned it off when genius split into 10 different kingdoms and tough had 6 islands
Genius were good at the beginning but they reach a point were the science stop advancing because they lack good materials , Tough started slow but as soon as they reach the cap of science nothing could beat them except things with extra damage or healing , also I think the immortal didn't reproduce because they are two men , with 2 houses
If you ever do an experiment like this again, try having a central island in the middle of the others or something to allowing each culture to eventually interact without necessarily needing to be adjacent to eachother
interesting - and all of that without any metal. Perhaps next time, intersperse some "mountain" islands in between them, to give access to more resource types?
Genius doing so well just makes sense. Almost seems like a metaphor for technological and scientific advancement, especially during war time, in human history.
Funny how Genius losed on the long run just because there started fighting with each other. Meanwhile the inmortals where chilling out the whole time, there are not gonna die, so why they should care about things like progress and power?
I was really hoping for ambitious to win, but I think this ending is funnier, I imagine them just thinking “Well we have enough population to colonize another island, gosh we can spread so far.. But not right now, maybe later.” Just sitting around thinking of all these incredible ideas for expansion, but to get overtaken before they can make a move.
Selective breeding adds gender to the units, but it doesn't show up anywhere. A lot of your islands probably died because they had 2 of the same gender on an island. If you were to do it again, I'd suggest at least 10 just to make sure they all have a chance.
some trends is that whatever civilization has the fastest culture development tends to dominate, the other is if a kingdom lucks out and gets a high level denizen early and power plays the early meta.
When you disabled rebellions, you broke your experiment. Rebellions are a consequence of certain traits. It would be like you disabling immortal's ability to not die.
I've got an idea: 4 races fight for the middle island but the water and infested with piranhas and when they get there they have to fight a titanic bear with all good traits so that in 300 years. So that they dont get annihilated by atomic nukes
Next time disable selective breeding, add plentiful food resources for everyone to populate and disable rebellions from the beginning so we don't have weird names like Wyoming or Gryffindor or whatever
The two Immortals just hanging til the end of days, they didnt bother no one, they didnt wage war, and no one bothered them. Truly the best way an immortal could live.
Genius: you turn off the rebellion when our team is doom meanwhile the tough guys not having a tough life. Also genius: not fair. They could've turn against each other too.
Peaceful just viben across islands, coming up on immortal and seeing two dudes just talking about how weird boats are or something and being like "So... you guys wanna be friends?" "Ok." "Sure, why not."
