After years of trying to meditate, yesterday was the first time I ever felt like I was truly meditating and I just did it again today while listening to this video. I feel like I'm high or something from meditating. Powerful stuff!
Finally, someone's thoughts are in harmony with his physical appearance and aura. You seem to have a strong personality and this is why it is easy to take you serious when you speak about mindfulness.
It was for me. I started out with back pain from an old injury. Was determined to meditate but couldn't sit up for long enough unsupported. So I began lying down. Just do whatever you can to meditate. Of course you then run the risk of falling asleep which you really don't want to do. I started doing yoga and weights to build core strength, and eventually could sit meditating for about three hours. Fixed the back pain for the most part too. Bad posture is a health hazard.
What a great lesson. My wife and i have been talking about this for months and I happened to stumble across this How to Meditate video. After 10 minutes, I feel much more relaxed. I do believe I will start doing this every day. Thank you.
Hey that's great *****. If you can do this every day, I guarantee your whole life will change. And what an amazing thing to share with your wife. Thanks for watching! :)
thank you so much for this. my friends have been wanting to try Yoga and mediation and I just needed to stop and do it this morning. I found you and I loved it. I personally loved your accent as it made me hear you newly and not with an American English accent, which I'm used to. I love how gentle you are and how much work you surely did to get yourself to this place where you can share your self and your work. I'm subscribed now so can't wait for your next video. Thank you again!!
Thank you for the great video. I am attempting to learn the art of meditation and am exploring the TM principles. I will try your method twice a day and see where that takes me. So far so good. Thanks again for your advice and easy to follow video!
Thanks, I needed that, I carry an anxious ball around in my gut, and I hope with practice I can rid myself of it. It has led to drug and alcohol problems, but finally at the age of 49, i'm not dependent, but the anxiety and IBS coupled with depression is still there, so I hope I can master this, and start having some quality life, before its to late. I say again thankyou. peace
You're welcome. Thanks for commenting. If you keep at it, keep meditating you'll have some great results. BTW, have you looked into GAPS to help with the IBS? Look it up and let me know what you think. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it. All the best.
Hi had a little experience and wanted to learn how to meditate at home because i keep waking up in the middle of the night for the last week. I found this video easy to follow thanx for your online lesson it helped to made me feel relaxed.
Sorry I'm not able to respond to some comments individually (since TH-cam changed over the comment system), but I can reply to new ones. If you have any questions just leave a comment for me. Thanks
Thanks for posting this. I like your approach. I've been meaning to start to meditate for a long time and decided to get at it. There are many inner problems I've been having for many years now that I don't think can be overcome any other way. I'll watch each of your videos
Thanks Saffiros, yes watch them all and see if you can persist for at least three weeks (just cycle the videos). Meditation is the hand that cleanses the mind free of its limitations.
I really enjoyed this video. It really helped me learn how to take it one thing at a time. My eyes did not seem to want to relax, so I will try again and focus on that and relaxing more. I will look for some more of your videos.
Hi Rob, thanks for the feedback. When the sun shines on my lounge windows they expand in their frames. Sounds like banging and creaking! Breathe through it and accept it as happening now. I left it in because there was no other time to shoot, so it is what it is :-) I don't have anything on TM, but I have read it can be great. David Lynch recommends it highly.
Hi Jim, I really like your channel and find your videos very refreshing - practical and free of new age gimmickry. It's very hard to find videos like your online. Please keep posting them.
I appreciate you saying so, and I'm glad you have gotten something out of them. There is a lot of new-agey garbage out there and I do try to keep it real! More videos are coming, promise!! Thanks
This is a really good video. It's crazy how fully relaxed you can become. And there is a lot of background noise (it sounds like someone is putting groceries away or something) but you teach us how to breathe it away which is why I'm figuring you left it in? Thank you for this, I'm enjoying doing it every day. Do you have anything on transcendental meditation, which is what I want to learn next?
After watching this, I'm compelled to comment (a rarity) and subscribe (without further research/scrutiny). This is an EXCELLENT first lesson. I wish I'd come across it sooner. I've only ever done guided meditation so tonight will be my first time trying it solo. Thanks for the tangible exercise. Great Job!
Awesome videoI think best video for bigennerI feel excellent relaxation after doing itThank u so much for this videoMy life start changing after this meditation
+Ajay panwar Thanks for saying so, I appreciate it. Just a week of doing this meditation will open up your own awareness, and the "real you" will come through. It's a beautiful thing. Thanks for watching.
Any light you may shine woukd be greatly aporeciated. One other thing was as I was leaving the meditation my hands felt very heavey, does this happen to others very much? Thanks again Jim I really appreciate the lession and shall continue with this again in the future
Thank you very much for this! What I like about this method is that it acknowledges and helps us deal with our distractions as we meditate. For a time, I feel a numbness in my hands but in a strangely good, refreshing way.
I just did this for the 1st time, I just wanted to thank you Jim I feel amazing very aware of my consiousness. I just want to share how i feel after it and see if you can shed any light on the reasons for the outcome. I followed your instruction as best i could, a very quiet space so i feel i did well to stay with you. As i was meditating I was very aware of how much I felt the urge to just start to laugh, I suppressed it but it was something that stood out, is this a natural thing to happen?
Thanks! Yeah, this is completely normal in the beginning. The mind (which doesn't want to be mastered) throws up all kinds of distractions to thwart you from doing so. Acknowledging them is a great thing to do. And of course, if you really do have an itch, just scratch it ;-) But if they are false, just become aware then then dissolve the sensation, just breathe it away.
Absolutely! The strange thing was I didn't even remember falling asleep - I woke up shocked that I had passed out. I'm one of those people who falls asleep so easily, so I suppose I have to be more mindful in staying awake while I meditate, haha
I enjoyed your instruction. I've made a personal commitment to break my normal routine and focus on learning one individual new skill/knowledge/creative art in very immersive intervals. This week I am focusing on Transcendental Meditation. Can you recommend an additional resource. Thx
You're welcome, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Be sure to feel and observe the sensations of the body in (and out of) mediation. What you describe is common.
You're very welcome, Andy. Twice a day, you can't go wrong! You can get a lot more helpful tips and advice on my blog too, if you like. Sign up there, and you're gold. Jim
Thank you so much for the effort you put into this. The space you create and what that space brings to people is pretty amazing. Feeling pretty grateful right now. All the best... jerm.
Thanks. Sure, you can do that. Ever had a massage? Quite often they have relaxing music playing, and it's easy to get into a deep state of relaxation. Give it a shot and feel how it feels to you. Ultimately you don't need anything, but I say go with whatever feels best, especially in the beginning.
Dear Jim , Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this out,it really helped me today,i'll do this everyday now and then move onto lesson two. Best wishes, Roger
Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work! Someone asked whether this was TM; the answer is no. Learning to meditate should be free! There are an unlimited ways to meditate. Eventually I was able to get into a meditative state without the affirmation at any given moment. Peace.
THANKYOU! I've been looking into meditation for a while. I used some guided meditation tapes I found on Amazon but I didn't like them all that much. This was an enlightening experience that I'll definitely do again. I am also very curious about transcendental meditation or the transcendental state. Could you please explain this? A video on how to do it would be even more awesome.

It's an easy thing to do. The body is triggered to fall asleep when it's relaxed. Sitting a little more upright than usual helps, and then the rest is just practice :) But the rewards are massive.
This video is excellent! I do have a question, though - I have OCD and I have a tendency, when trying to keep still or meditation, to become acutely aware of various itches. Wow , just done that tried lots of videos , felt like I was half asleep but still aware I was breathing etc , feels like I just woke up from a good nap :)
Hey Suzy Owens-Olson, yes most people will start to feel a 'difference' within about two weeks. It all depends on your brain, your ego, your connection with your own body. Each time you open up a little more, slowly awakening to who you really are. Be patient, discard expectations, and enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
Hey AM, first of all thanx for the video and secondly what do I need to think when I close my eyes? Do I need to think about my thoughts that brought negative effects?
Hi Talha BoSSnian you don't need to think about anything. Just follow along with my voice on the video. When meditation by yourself, simply bring your awareness to the breath. When you find yourself thinking a thought, notice it and allow it to pass and return to the breath. Practice, practice, practice.
Hi thank you for this. Sometimes I have noises in my house when I am up alone, the sound of the clock, the neighbors car door, etc. would it be okay to have ocean sounds playing in my ear to drown out noise to help me focus?
Hi Kim McDan, you can certainly do that while you get started. But you should use the environment to deepen your meditation, don't try to block it out.
Great video, thank you. I added to my favourites. Is it a good idea also to thank the organs one by one for their great service to us as we go along around the body? I read something like that could be helpful.
Yes, absolutely, unity, sure. But you can pay attention and say thank you to each separately, like members of a team. This could make the rest offended, though, if you do not mention them...I see your point...hm...I don’t know, I just read this somewhere and decide to offer this here...I tried and think its works, by the way....
After years of trying to meditate, yesterday was the first time I ever felt like I was truly meditating and I just did it again today while listening to this video. I feel like I'm high or something from meditating. Powerful stuff!
Wow, time flies, that felt like three minutes.
Finally, someone's thoughts are in harmony with his physical appearance and aura. You seem to have a strong personality and this is why it is easy to take you serious when you speak about mindfulness.
Thank you for your kind words, Happy Person. I appreciate you.
Just tried. Best 15 minutes of my life, I think I'll never be capable again to live without.. I felt really a peace and my energy. Thank you!

Lovely :)
This is so good. It is actually done in real time, so the breathing is very natural. Often guided meditations are a little to fast. Thank you.

Love the video! One question. How do you feel about meditating with relaxing music? Would you recomand that?
Absolutely! The strange thing was I didn't even remember falling asleep - I woke up shocked that I had passed out. I'm one of those people who falls asleep so easily, so I suppose I have to be more mindful in staying awake while I meditate, haha
Very nice! I've been a regular meditator since 1969 and I can really recommend your video to new students.
Thanks Dr. Gene. Much appreciated :)
This must have worked incredibly well, because I fell asleep without even realizing it :) Thank you!
First time meditating. Loved it! Thank you so much. Laughed inside a little every time I thought you said "A-wenis."
Hahaha! Yesss, good thing I was blessed with a sense of humor as well as an uxullent uxent :-) Thanks for watching JairAhMeKndvall
I really like this channel. I hope there will come a lot more videos. No matter on what topic. It's a great source of inspiration, thank you!

Not TM specifically, Christopher Smith but I highly recommend this little book: accl.me/blmed I credit this with saving my life.
Thanks for saying so Tracy. Much appreciated :)

You're very welcome amber moxey. Come listen any time you need to relax.
Watching this in 2023
Thank you that was lovely! What is transcendental meditation- where you go into a deep state of meditation fast?
Hello! I like your video! when you'll upload next lesson?
I was so relaxed! before I was stressing about time this morning did about 10 minutes and I feel WAY better!
Thanks. Sure, you can do that. Ever had a massage? Quite often they have relaxing music playing, and it's easy to get into a deep state of relaxation. Give it a shot and feel how it feels to you. Ultimately you don't need anything, but I say go with whatever feels best, especially in the beginning.
That's excellent Hugh. Glad I could help.
If you keep it up, you'll really start to notice things changing for the better.
Dear Jim ,
Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this out,it really helped me today,i'll do this everyday now and then move onto lesson two.
Best wishes,
Roger
Hey Roger, great to hear. Thanks for participating.
Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work! Someone asked whether this was TM; the answer is no. Learning to meditate should be free! There are an unlimited ways to meditate. The aim to quiet your mind by focusing on one subject (e.g., your breathing, a mantra, affirmation, etc.). Whatever way works best for you is the best way to meditate. There isn't a wrong or right way. The results are always very profound and powerful. When I started I've tried many techniques and found that repeating a personal affirmation worked best for me. Eventually I was able to get into a meditative state without the affirmation at any given moment. Peace.
Hey Dennis, you're right on there. Well done. Ain't bliss bliss?
Hey thanks for your feedback Mike, I'm really pleased you're finding it useful.
Great! That's the plan. I'll be sure to let all the subscribers know when the next one comes out.
Great guy! Many thanks
Ok,Your video got me into meditation so i can't thank you enough.
You're welcome Daniella, glad you enjoyed it.
Thnks you so much for uploading this wonderful video. What is the best time to meditate?
+Eshtiak Dewan Thank you for watching. Best time is any time you can really, just make sure it's daily. For me the ideal time would be an hour before lunch, but because my schedule doesn't make the possible, I go for the early morning. Experiment to find works best for you, but earlier in the day is better (makes the rest of the day so much better).
Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
It's an easy thing to do. The body is triggered to fall asleep when it's relaxed. Sitting a little more upright than usual helps, and then the rest is just practice :) But the rewards are massive.
Thank you, just what I needed to start the day. X
This video is excellent!
I do have a question, though - I have OCD and I have a tendency, when trying to keep still or meditation, to become acutely aware of various itches. I try to ignore them, but that seems to magnify them. I try to simply acknowledge them, but that doesn't help, either. I know this is probably entirely psychological, but knowing that doesn't seem to make any difference. Any suggestions?
No words to thank u , It was so useful for me because of u I start today my first step into meditation , lots of love
Abeer Shah Thank you for your kind feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know.
Absolutely loved this - so helpful! I'm starting to get into meditation and this was really effective. Thank you!
Thanks a lot, few questions are answered now. i am glad to hear you clear explanation. Question i have is, if you reach to the bliss stage what is next...?
Bliss is life. A blissful state is a natural state, unencumbered by ego limitations.
AccelerateMe Gratitude for helping me. Namaste
Namaste.
Wow , just done that tried lots of videos , felt like I was half asleep but still aware I was breathing etc , feels like I just woke up from a good nap :)
That's great Will Hutton. Do it a couple more times, the experience gets better and better :)
Awesome stuff :)
This is excellent. I wonder how long until some sort of change is felt in everyday life?
Hey Suzy Owens-Olson, yes most people will start to feel a 'difference' within about two weeks. It all depends on your brain, your ego, your connection with your own body. Each time you open up a little more, slowly awakening to who you really are. Be patient, discard expectations, and enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
Awesome to hear! Thanks for giving it a go.
This method seems to work for me quite well while lying flat on my back. Sleep is definitely a hazard though.
still working with it from Holland, great!!
Fantastic Guus Jansen, really pleased you're liking it :)
Like lesson2 and 3 as well, thanks a lot AccelerateMe
You're very welcome :-) Next time you listen, try staying aware for a little longer and see if there are any differences.
Thank you!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
You're so welcome. Come watch it as many times as you like ;-)
Great stuff Michael. Glad you got something out of watching this.
is this a method of transcendental meditation? or is that something different?
I cant stop seeing those little waves colours and shapes lines at the back of my crest
What a wonderful video!
Thank you so much!
Hey, thank you for watching :)
