    Thanks for the honest review Kevy,! I look forward to more of your opinion on this razor. A well designed 2 piece titanium Gibbs style razor would have been better. For $350 this is a a good looking razor, but has more emphasis on style than on function. One would expect both in any luxury item purchase The concerns for some will be having having to back off the handle to adjust, a very stiff adjustment at the higher settings ,and then worrying about slicing your fingers turning up the stiff dial at the higher settings. Not a carefree shave IMO. Maybe a V2 version can address these concerns. Thanks again Kevy!

    I really liked your short version review. The Osprey is a good-looking razor. I've never seen an on-the-fly 3-piece adjustable. Blackland doesn't have it listed on their website. So, I can only imagine the Osprey will be an expensive safety razor. Your point about blade feel is why I won't get another adjustable safety razor. After I find a setting with both minimal blade feel and good efficiency, I use it for my daily shaves. No adjusting is needed. That's why I fell in love with the Rockwell 6S. Although I do occasionally flip my R4 plate on pass 3 and pickups if I have any irritation from a previous shave. Now I'll go watch the long version just in case I missed any jokes!

    Thank you for your review Kevy. I so enjoy your product shaves and reviews. It has helped me to refine my technique. The Osprey in titanium is on my want list if I can afford it. Right now I have a Supply adjustable single edge razor and a Rockwell T2 stainless. Unfortunately, my wife does not understand why I need more than one razor, one shaving brush, one shaving bowl and one shaving soap. I won’t lie to her so for now I’ll hold off on my shopping list.
    I think she is afraid that I’ll go down the same Rabbit hole that I dive down with fountain pens, with more than fifty pens and about $25K in pens, ink, paper and the like.
    Thanking you again for everything you do for your viewers.

    You know Kevy loves doing long videos when his short version of a video is still over 16 minutes long lol. Both versions are great Kevy.

    Thank you for posting this excellent video. I am new to your channel. I decided to watch this short version of your Blackland Osprey review. I like the short version: 17 minutes or less is about right for me and I think you cover the important points very well in that time. The quality of your review is impressive. About this razor: I wonder if you bought the razor with your own money, or whether Blackland sent it to you for review purposes? I do not have this razor but I will probably want a high end razor within the next few months. A higher end razor would be a first for me. I've always used cheap razors such as the Gillette Tech Ball End.

    Hi Kevy! Great review, thank you. How does this compare to HLS Taiga for you? Taiga is super efficient for me but very low or no blade feel, almost to close for daily using like I do but my favourite razor.

      I think the adjustable part has more range on this than the Taiga. Kevy 😀

    The price is so high as the innovative Tatara Muramasa, and near to Rocnel...... They are the best in Town 👍👍

    very good video. kevy can you give your opinion as to a comparison of the Osprey with the Rockwell T2 SS? The weight seems to be close. What about efficiency, comfort , blade feel, etc.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never tried the Rockwell T2 so I can't compare it to the Osprey. Kevy.

    About releasing the handle.
    The spring inside the Fatboy forces it to must be loosened 1/4 turn to adjust.
    A 2023 latest CNC three-piece razor is not even TTO at all. There is no reason to cite the Gillette adjustable 70 years ago to defend itself.
    In fact, this is an operational compromise made by Osprey in order to reduce the size of the adjustable mechanism and reduce the structure, rather than a specially planned function.
    And there are already many razors that do not need to release the handle, and the turntable will not slip during the shaving process.

    Hi Kevy, Thank you for a great review, I do covet owning a Blackland razor as I do believe they one of the best out there as far as quality and design goes, but I cannot see the benefit in having an adjustable razor that you have to loosen the handle each time you want to adjust it, old school technology

    • @billstanley330
      @billstanley330 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kevy, Just watched Shane's you tube clip on the Osprey and he explained that the when you loosen the handle and reset the adjustment level and then tighten the handle back up it locks the shave level so it can't be mistakenly changed ... I differ to this thought and withdraw my comment about old school technology, and of course the Osprey rockets up the list of desirable razors that will satisfy my RAD

      @@billstanley330I'm right here with you. I was initially thinking "gee, thats kinda inexcusable for something priced way out there" but then rethinking the concept I actually love the idea that the handle keeps your adjustment setting locked in!

    Hi Kevy. Thanks for showing off the "Osprey". 👍
    It looks like a well built razor. However, given the extremely high price, I reserve the right to criticize the adjustment mechanism. Sure, it works, but it could certainly have been solved in a more user-friendly way.
    Kind regards, Patrick

    Interesting razor, Kevy. I think it would be great to see you compare it to the Muramasa, which is similar in price and which I know you like a lot.

    This Osprey Razor is amazing. I could care less about that adjustment issue I’m reading about. The razor is quality and function. Dang thing goes up to setting 9 like a Gillette Fatboy Razor. I’m in love and will be purchasing this on the 22nd. I already own many luxurious razors in my collection and this 3 piece adjustable to me is one of a kind in my opinion. It’s new fresh and awesome. Be a man and use the Osprey like a weapon Handel with care and don’t be careless. This Osprey is made for Men not children. I can’t wait to use it. This Osprey has got me excited to purchase. Great shave kevy I look forward to another shave with the Osprey and your honest review. I’m in love with that blackland razor it is prime.

    Great review Kevy and yeah for the price I’d be concerned about slicing my finger when adjusting the razor.

    It looks really ugly with this brass insert that doesnt even fill the opening in the handle. Also the setting arrow is huge and makes for extra weirdness.
    I made this comment earlier but it seems like there is some "censoring" going on here.

    Too much money to buy a design that slices your fingers - potentially. Makes no sense.
