A big shoutout to you Nico for featuring my favorite windsurf spot back home in South Africa. With this awesome exposure, we can look forward to a surge of windsurfing fans from Europe seeking unforgettable wind-powered adventures. And who knows, maybe the PWA will make a comeback to our shores someday!
I ride on both Starboard and JP boards, and to be honest they are both great. Like you said, all big brands make fast boards, and so at the end of the day, switching to JP is just based on your previous experience with them 👍 Keep up the good qork Nico!
I’m from Sicily Italy I’m 20 years old, I really starting this obsession of wave-surfing trough your videos, but the bad thing is that here in Sicily this sport is not very popular that why there isn’t so much people practicing it and maybe that’s why the equipment are very expensive so I can’t afford it sadly, any way keep up with what you doing and big love my friend✌️
Hi Nico, congratulations on your new top sponsor. JP! Here's a wish that would perhaps make many other motorhome drivers happy. It concerns the partially integrated and fully integrated motorhomes that are very popular in Europe. Often they have a garage in the rear or a double floor to load from the side. Putting a surfboard there is much more convenient than putting it on a 3m high roof. Now comes the problem: many recreational surfers do not have as many boards as the professionals for different wind strengths. Often you want to surf between 4 - 6 Beaufort. Because you are not always at a top spot with continuous strong wind. Even the North Sea or the Atlantic sometimes weakens. But then you need a big board with a big sail. Most motorhomes are 235 cm wide on the outside. The garages or through-loading possibilities inside but only about 218 cm. So you need a freeride or slalom board, which is large (for me more than 120l) and not longer than 218 cm. Take a look at the best selling motorhomes from Knaus, Bürstner, Adria, Challenger, Pilote and others. Maybe you can persuade JP to build such a board. I think they would make a lot of sales with it. Many greetings from Germany.
If you want to win races, then you are the only one to know what feels well and good. That is very important, because you have to do it, no one else. The boards , Starboard or JP are both superb , that I am sure off. But you as a rider make the decisions that are good for you to perform and feel comfortable with all that comes with it. So blast into the new season and keep us updated of how it is all done…
I really appreciate all the work developers put into new board ranges. But its just too damn expensive. For 2900€ it is not possible to buy a new board. (atleast for me) Bin jetzt 18 Jahre alt und bekomme meinen ersten Lehrlingslohn, bin also noch nicht so lange dabei.
Congrats on the new deal Nico and the video. Looks like some awesome sailing over there. I just hope the new deal includes some boards to give away to your patron members - could do with a medium wind slalom board to go eith my jp62
Good luck with the returned sponsorship, looking forward for the exciting competition of the board brands;) By the way the drive to survive or a sailgp approach is a definitely must for our sport!🏆
Just watching the jibing on these new style boards makes me wonder a bit about the difference between them and older style gunny slalom boards, like the 1990s Mistral you tried out in another video you posted. The newer boards seem a little prone to bouncing a bit in the turn, maybe its because of the relatively higher volume in the wider tails of the newer boards? How did you find it laying turns down on the older board compared to the newer ones? I guess harder to plane out of the turn on the older kit, but I would guess a lot easier to lay it down, I certainly never had a problem keeping the turn in without too much bounce with my Bic electric rock. The spot looks well nice though, so long as you don't get any unwanted attention from those pointy white locals that swim around all day 🙂
Outside of being sick, the conditions look dreamlike. The boards from JP are really very good, I have one myself. With hard work and a lot of training, you can certainly achieve very good results. I'm off to Egypt soon, hopefully with good wind conditions. Greetings from Hessen🤙
Congrats on your new contract! I'm going to miss watching you rip it up on the same Starboards I sail on but at the top racing level you're at it's likely more about the fin anyway. With all your new free time, wink, I look forward to seeing more videos more often. Shred long and prosper!
Hello Nico! Great video and thanks for sharing your great news with us. I like JP and Fanatic boards. I have 3 or 4 of each. I've never been interested in Starboard as they seem so marketing focused and not rider focused. You will be in good company with Andy Laufer with JP and NP. In a future video I would be curious about the durability of slalom, freerace, freeride boards and the differences in very choppy/ swell & wave conditions.
Nico, you are looking so much better now. I had some concerns about you while in Tenerife. You looked so tired. Like to see you back on JP and NP, my choices here in Australia and in Germany. Keep going and good luck.
Was nice to meet Sebastian and the team down south at Misty Cliffs. Sorry the food didn’t agree with you. We’ve got incredible food in this country I suppose it just depends where you get it like anywhere. I’m sure they explained the reasons for load shedding. Failed power stations because of a lack of maintenance over 20 years due to government incompetence. We’re all moving to Solar. Nice to have you here and hope you come back.
Glad you are back on JP! Encourages me to go on a JP board too. Last year i bought a NP X:Ryde and instantly loved it! Now i kinda regret that i went for a bit of a cheaper board..
Hey Nico, great signing by JP/NP congrats! Huge marketing mistake in my opinion as a fan that Starboard did not manage to sign you on to Severne and at the end a great loss for Starboard of such a great promoter, actually the best one! Being on NP since 1985 to date, I have the same feeling for their sails! Being happily on SB slaloms the last 2 years... sorry that I will not see you with the same gear ..for the time being 😀🤙
Just a quick question: you’ve been using NP foils since you signed with them last year to have the new sails, do you find particular differences between starboard and NP foils?
Yess your back, at JP I always like the videos of you with all the tips. But if your own gear is a JP supersport gold you don't want to see starboard. Hopefully you can find back the joy in windsurfing, because is dope for me
Great video and once again thanks for sharing your experience. It makes good sense to go with JP and Neil Pryde for the reasons you have mentioned. Looking forward to seeing you back on t he tour full time. Cheers!
My parents tell me "if you are happy...we are happy"...so that's the same for us...JP is a very good choice...the important is that you go on with a lot of videos...!
One of the points you raised when switching to SB at the time was their Environmental commitment - with respect of plastic etc. Are you going to try and influence JP from within to invest in environmental issues as a rider ?
Hi Nico, thanks for another great video and congrats on your contract with the JP/NP team. Just wonder, you mentioned that the top board brands all offer similar performance is it any different with sails and did you try to make it work with Severne?
out of all the boards i have owned (and there's been a lot) especially with the Original Neil Pryde AL Foil that JP Super Lightwind was a stand out from all the rest.. just so fast blew me away
Great effort making the switch then doing it all over again. Follow your gut heart and luv. Now get down to summer in Australia!! West Australia in fact. 🤙🤙
Was lässt sich einfacher fahren? etc.
I hope you get a championship on Pryde sails since you are switching contracts to be aligned with manufacturers' efficient and effective budget. It's been fun following you since 2019 before you were in Thailand at a desk job. What a fun life, or at least the portion of it depicted. Again, best of luck, win a championship on that jp/pryde gear but if a change comes again please consider Quatro and ezzy when you evaluate the alternatives. They are my choices and ezzy has been the only sail forever in my quiver.
Hey Nico, dass Video is wieder einmal echt Mega geworden.
Danke dir. Gruß Stefan
I really agree with you that neil pryde sails are the best because i have 3 sails and last year i was all along with the neil pryde 9.0 from 8-27 knots had some nasty crashes but it survived perfectly and i really enjoyed on it. Maybe some day try it with jp board🤞and all well in the further trainig and great video as always
Hello Niko regarding my question which I asked you when you were on starboard so now can you tell me which board is better I sonic or JP because personally me sold off all starboards and switch on JP 2022 By the way, why Andy is not on photoshoot he is in SA at the same time? And if you really want to know my personal opinion about your decision I think this is only business despite I’m using neil pryde sail from evo3 till evo 13 2 years ago I tried to switch on severne Mach 3 and on my opinion, they were much much better then evo 9 and 10 but evo12/13 is revolution in windsurfing… so my personal conclusion is that your have reached a good contract which you deserve
Nice to see you in SA Nico. I am from inland SA near Johannesburg. Sorry for the load shedding. Our government is struggling with providing electricity for the whole country and thus we take turns to go without electricity for a couple of hours
I was always a NP/JP guy. Starboard might make perfect boards as well. I just never liked their colours and designs for some reason. Hence I never considered buying one.

What was it like being back with the team and JP after your absence?
Good luck with the upcoming races 🤙

That wave spot sounds interesting. :-)
Great to see you back on JP. My old 105 X-Cite Ride just got way cooler🤣 I’m off to Bonaire for 2 weeks of flat water blasting🤘
amazing spot and good luck for the new JP sponsor

Beautiful location and great shots. Too bad NP products are not easy to get in the US...
Welcome to my part of the world, been sailing here for 23 years❤️

So many cool pictures and beautiful footage😍
Wish you good luck for the upcoming season 🤙🏽
JP jeh Langebaan so geil... und wieder tolle Laydowns im Team so gut zuzusehen.
Great to see you return to the JP/Neilpryde family. And keep up the great work. Really like it!

Thanks for the observation, I feel pretty good now 👌
As we say in South Africa "Man dis Lekker" Congrats. Been watching All you videos. Improved my sailing temendously.
Boah, was für geniale Aufnahmen🤩. Danke, Nico!

Some of my NP favorites are 1990s sails can't let them go their still holding up. Just have had to put some replacement stitches in.

Good decision Nico. Brands are definitely paired/partnered with a sail and board combo. Just seems to fit, best of luck!!
Wishing you all the best whatever the choices you make!
Simply enjoy the ride 🤙🏻

So good to see you out on the water.
"I have the smallest" "yeah but you know how to work with" 😂😂😂🔝🔝
oooohh the water loooked soooo nice! Wish I was there. Looking forward to more JP videos
Congrats to your come back to JP
and thx for training Sebastian to long distance so he can come to the Defi 😛😍

ezzy sails are awesome!
Quatro and ezzy are great but focus on waves, not PWA slalom where Nico races 🤙
@@slogo8879 nothing beats ezzy for durability and high end performance in b&j.
Hey Nico, great decision to go now for NP and JP. Amazing package.
So I can ask you now for fin recommendations for my JP FSW 😉
Jochen
this is amazing! its awesome getting exposure on this spot, we need more windsurfers. I wish i was there to see this
Great. Back on JP!!!
Nice country and restart on a new brand. Good luck
I am still on starboard. I wish I could efford windsurfing in South Africa. I am looking forward to your comments on GP.
Wünsche dir viel Spaß und Erfolg
Good luck on your new adventure! Have fun!

great place! gotta love offshore flat water blasting!
Good Luck, I follow you because of you, pro and good rider, no matter the brand
The boards are looking great
A jp was my first board
This looks like a sensible plan - good luck
Great decision… i Hope you acheive your goals very soon 🍀
South Africa especially compared to north German winter looks super nice
And the spot looks super good
GREAT NICO !!!
JP & NEILPRYDE feels like nothing else!
Good video. Nice spot🤙
Alles Klar (Kommissar) 👍👍
I think JP/NeilPryde could not have a better promotion video than your video actually haha. Beautiful shots!
Which bay is this? Location in SA?
It's gonna be a hell of a ride. Stoked that you guys are on board!

where can I buy your used sails ,masts and boards??really thanks!!🙏
I don’t know how to sign up for newsletter
Or what is it?
Nice to see you in SA Nico. I am from inland SA near Johannesburg. Sorry for the load shedding. Our government is struggling with providing electricity for the whole country and thus we take turns to go without electricity for a couple of hours
No need to be sorry! Was actually nice to be reminded of our luxury.
The diversification of Europe means the we may soon be having to do the same.
Load shedding in South Africa is due to cabinet ministers stealing from the voters. I hope Europe never experiences that level of corruption.
@@philipn2940 I hope so too but the patterns of demographic change are clear. For example by 2060 white British will be

Congrats, you back on JP too?
Great. Back on JP👍👍👍
JP steht wohl ab sofort für Ja, Prien! Wenn es nach dem Chef der Windsurf-TH-camr geht 😉
6:14 Nico can't hold back, and takes off from the foilers. :-D
Not considering technical features, JP boards still look superiror in terms of graphic design.. just a piece of art, as well as NP sails
Just bought a Jp magic ride to Beginn with don’t know why but feels good seeing professionals using the same brand
My two favorite pro windsurfers! Nico Prien and Sebastian Kornum together. I said that you’d find a way to bring us together Nico.
Servus Nico, gute Entscheidung gehört einfach zusammen Jp u NP ,super viedeo , tolle Aufnahmen 🤙
I like JP’s over Starboards so congrats to you 😊
And to be honest, it always felt a little uncomfy with the starboardteam in the videos. like they were less able to relax a little and joke around.
I‘m happy that you are on JB I like JB more than Starboard.
Congrats. Marcel Grondman would like to win gear!
Thanks a lot for your nice video and to have show us, in my opinion, your best choice
Gratzz!
Must feel good to be back with the lastest and greatest from JP!
Can we keep getting the session stats? Keep healthy
Hi Nico, looks that you guys made the best of it, keeping in fornt of the sharks.....good luck in the PWA....a lot of fans enjoy your insights.... your biggest fan lives presumably in Germany ;)
