11:30 I have a friend who is/was overinvested in me. It was too much. I needed to time out to create new, firmer boundaries. Too many gifts, meals and other things being delivered. Constant messages assuring me they understood how I was feeling etc when in fact they really had no idea or they'd have given me the space I asked for for a few weeks. I had been dealing with significant family issues and the hospitalisation and subsequent death of a parent and needed some time out. But this friend was relentless. It felt like I was being pursued by an avid and unwanted suitor so I had to say stop! I need extended time alone. I won't be answering my phone, messages or my front door for a while. Sorry but this is what I need!
I know they are "watching" me and hoping for signs of life. They drive past my house, sometimes leave gifts or food etc by my front door. I might receive a message letting me know they've noticed my "Do Not Disturb" sign is on the door. I feel like I'm in a fish bowl.
