The problem is, these young brothas are desperate to make something of themselves but lack the confidence, intellect or talent to do anything else so they bank on the fact that the record industry has no problem pushing these little marsh mellows out there. I suggest all these youngsters get together, decide on the name of this new talentless genre of music and create under that new flag.

Lil Uzi is popular cause he's interesting and different. Not cause he's good lyrically or anything. It's just today's trend people care more about catchy shit more than actual meaning.
