    This is something I can use right away with my glaze containers. I will be mixing the bentonite, epsom salts and CMC to keep when needed. Thanks for the info, John!

    Great John, thanks. I don't want to use bentonite as it contains iron. I'm trying to stop hardpanning in a white satin matte for use on porcelain. I've changed the formulation to replace ball clay with china clay to exclude the iron so don't want to add it back. I'll try epsom salts in the hope there is enough clay in the glaze to make it work.

      The iron is negligable, but you can use Macloid or Vee-gum T..no iron

    John, Thank you for teaching us something very useful! I have a big bucket of carbon trap shino but the soda ash in it has formed huge crystal chunks. Anyway I can fix that?

    Hey John how do you get rid of marbling in a glaze without making it thicker?

    • @johnbrittpottery
      @johnbrittpottery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to add Epsom salts and then add water.

    Thanks for the video John. I like the idea of keeping Bentonite in a pre-mixed state for testing. I will try that, however how can you know exactly how much you added to your test when you go mix up a big batch of that glaze? I suppose a little guess work is fine.

      If you can weight it out with the recipe that is best but I just have that for emergencies. But you could figure out the amount in the cup and then estimate the amount in a tablespoon.

      organics...put in a few drops of bleach to kill the bacteria.
