I have an '07 1250 that just broke 100,000 miles. I like it so much, that I just picked up an '11 GSX 1250 FA with 10,000 miles to go along with it. I agree, they are great bikes.

A great machine that is still available on the market. New riders are skipping them, but in reality it is well worth buying one. I just got the 650. :) Cheers bro. Great video by the way.

I used to own a carbed Bandit 1200S and it impressed me every time I got on it. It occasionally scared the living shit out of me also. It's the true realization of 'hooligan' bike. The hardest part about riding it was keeping the front tire on the ground.

Thanks very much for watching and commenting Argle. The 1200's were kinda like the LC's of the time. Propper hooligan, like you say. Ride safe buddy!

My 1st bike was a 600 bandit which I loved. I then bought a 650 which was excellent as well but my mate had a 1250 which I yearned for. Another mate decided to sell his. 2007 with 19k miles. When he let me have it for £2.5k, I was more than happy. I've had it a year and absolutely love it. The only problem I have now is my hip is starting to play and I have problems using the rear brake and getting my foot down when I need to stop at road ends so I need to look at other options. I'll be sad to see it go.

I've owned three 1st-Gen 1200's, (carbureted/oil-cooled), and still own one, ride it daily. I put 175,000 miles on my last one, (yes, I rebuilt it).. These machines are maybe the best UJM ever built- they do everything WELL, but you need to mod them carefully: exhaust, PROPER jetting, upgrade the suspension (stock is horrible).. get your ergos correct. Then, Superman jumps out of the phone-booth. I've had mine across the US (12,000 miles in 90 days one time) repeatedly, and I've had it on the Track, where it performs surprisingly well. I've lived/breathed/eaten these bikes for 15 years. know 'em inside and out.

It's a bike that could so easily have been my first big bike after passing my test, the reason it wasn't is because they were ten for a penny, as common as muck. I opted instead for its twin the GSX600F but it turned out to be a bike I just couldn't get on with. The rear shock seemed set too stiff and the full fairing acted like a sail in side winds. As a result it bounced round corners whilst getting blown sideways between gaps in the trees.
There was no tool kit under the seat so I returned to the dealer to get it set up properly. Whilst there I tried the Triumph Thunderbird Sport, it rode like it was on rails and with no fairing let wind pass through rather than get pushed sideways. The GSX600F never left the garage, instead I rode home on the Triumph. Hence my recent purchase of an identical bike, so fond were my memories of it from the past.

@@soggybawsmoto It was more than a day, I bought the Suzuki before passing my test ( naughty, naughty 😂). I think it was the feeling of counter steer which irked me the most. I like to lean a bike and have it follow me but with the drop bars it felt like the bike wanted to go the opposite way round corners. It also would tip before I leant, felt like it was controlling me rather than the other way round. Add the rear end skipping to that equation and the side winds on country lanes.
The Triumph on the other hand had wider flatter bars making changes of direction a breeze. A pal of mine was a motorcycle instructor riding a Yamaha 900 Diversion. I gave him a go of the Triumph, he came back grinning from ear to ear saying it was the most fun he'd ever had on two wheels.

But she’s getting to heavy for me now at around 860lbs plus or minus. Thinking of downsizing to a lighter bike that makes for a more enjoyable ride.

Thanks Graham, it's become a standing joke with my pals, that if we are remotely going in that direction, we go out our way to ride it again.
I've been gathering footage on this road since 2019 when I bought the Africa Twin, even have snowy footage.
Eventually I will complete a "ride through the seasons" film on it, but until recently havnt had a plan on how to string it all together. Should get it nailed next year 😂

I'd love to see more like this. I think the extra context over and above the facts and figures helps impart an understanding of why fans of a particular model love them so much. And to see a high mileage bike running so well makes me feel that if I ever fall on harder times, I'll always be able to afford to ride a motorcycle.
