    So that's how my great grandpa did it! Still there I imagine, in Missouri. Back in the day, this is how they did it. Dangerous? Sure. But man that's cool!

    That is a very dangerous way of digging a well. Back in the day they use to build.wood rings that could be stacked for higher for depth. A digger would stand in the middle of the ring and dig below the edge as the ring drops it creates a retaining wall. Once the desired depth was reached thy lined the well with brick or stone leaving the wood rings behind.

    Hey Justin, wow that is so much hard work. It looks like you are about 9 to 10 feet deep at the end of this video. You have my respect on how hard you work and your determination.

    That looks like a good way to relax just doing mindless work you don't have to think about while doing it. I don't think I'll be trying it here though...it's 220 ft to good water!...LOL

    I'll tell you one thing, you dig a nice round hole! I'm interested now in how far you're gonna go. I don't know how my mind went to this while watching the video, but I felt bad for all those guys back in the old days that had to dig graves for people, especially during war times!

    • @homegrowncountryhomeplace
      @homegrowncountryhomeplace  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My future videos will show in detail how I am going to dig/drill it. This hole will be back filled and on to the next step. Probably 200 plus feet. Have a Blessed Day Friend!

    Is there any type of soil that indicates you are close to finding water underground

    • @homegrowncountryhomeplace
      @homegrowncountryhomeplace  ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I understand, it would be small rocks or sandy soil where water can travel. It could be a combination of this or other soil type where water can travel or rock. Hope this helps. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

    The well at my grandparents house was dug in ‘59 by a man and his wife, bout 50’ deep. A bucket of mud fell on my uncle while he was digging a well, almost killed him.
