I’m so sorry that’s awful! Every collectors worst nightmare, (or any person) that sucks. Way to have a positive attitude about it though, I’m glad you were able to save some of them. Happy collecting!🫶🏻
My best find? Probably the early, glossy Brahma Bull from the late 1950's. He predates the Breyer mold mark, so he was priced at about $12. The antique mall I was in was having a 20% off sale as well, so I got him for about $10. As I was walking around with him in hand, people were commenting on him, saying how cool he was, and I was just nodding and smiling... My friends were gently teasing me for picking up the weirdo bull. Again, I was quiet and suffered it with a smile. Then I got through the checkout, and was like "START THE CAR!" and booked it outta there as quickly as I could. Friends were baffled, but complied. While we were driving off, I brought up ebay sold listings for him, and the teasing stopped... But the absolute BEST part of this story? About two years later, I was wandering the same antique mall, and lo and behold, two booths over from where I found my first one, I found a second one! He was priced at $20, but I figured with the deal I got on the first one, it was well worth the price. I bought him as well, and found him a good home with another collector.
omg love this! I love antique shopping, sadly Breyer aren't common in antique or thrift shops in Australia though, BUT I did find one Traditional and 3 stablemates not long ago and got SO excited! I'd be so down for more videos like this! 😀
One of my favorite finds is a breyer elephant for 3 dollars. I also got two different schleich eagles for about 50 cents each at the same thrift store at different times. One was slightly older and the other was brand new! I also got an uncalled for for $10 nearly perfect condition!
Hey, Breyer Trot! I went Breyer Horses hunting, and at an Antique Store, I found 2 Breyer Horses that I bought! They’re both Stallions, and one is Black and White, and the other is a Buckskin Appaloosa. I named them Padfoot and Prongs, respectively. They’re named after 2 Harry Potter characters.
Gal in OH found a vintage deco Florentine Running Mare in an antique mall. She’s posted photos on hobby sites. I rarely find Breyer’s in flea markets, antique malls or yard sales. When I do find them they’re beat up & way overpriced. Like $80 for a RR Running Stallion overpriced. My best horse find was a vintage Hagen Renaker mustang foal for $10. My best Breyer find was 20 yrs ago & it was a flocked chestnut rocking horse on the Saddlebred Weaning for $30. Congrats on your finds. That MFT is really nice.
I found a Secretariat from 2010(I think) for like 10 bucks. And he was definitely psq, possibly lsq(I don't show, so idk). That's been my only lucky find at a thrift store. I've seen other models at some, but they were ither way overpriced or basically body condition. And I don't collect traditionals for the most part, so I don't really look for them. They just seem to find me.
My antique store never have Breyers. I did find a pegasus schleich for my daughter. Hopefully, one day, I will find one that has them.
Enjoy you’re Breyer Quest

What was your best antique store Breyer find?
I found a palomino PAM for $10 CAD
Well there is a whole Breyer antique store near me and I found Breyerfest Surry and Axle! ❤
My best antique find wasn’t Breyer but schelich in NC. It was the retired hannovain mare with leg wraps.
This made me realize I spend 80 dollars on 2 1970 Breyer horses not very good condition plus a Breyer horse with a foal perfect condition 1970s 😅
I have the Arab foal in mat

I’m pretty sure the clock horse You saw might’ve been a Breyer Horse
