    luv the car ,must still have the 232 low gear in it , my 67 went from 10.0s to 9.60s when I changed to a 2.78 low gear .Tube frame 454Fe Twedge 660s ,Flatops . After the 2.78 low had to pay attention to set the wheelie bars , shift to secdond with no asphalt visible . S/G 4027, a v ery fine car & engine .

    Weird how it was called the San Jose plant, when it was located in the city north of SJ, that being Milpitas, Calif...After graduating HS in early June 1965, my Dad's cousin Buzzy, all 6'7" 285lbs of him, started work on the assembly line at that plant...he may well have had a part in the production of your kick-a** Mustang 🇺🇸🤘🏻

    Excellent care. But I want to know how do you keep it straight while launching the car ?
    My 67 mustang with a 427 and a 428 crank won't stay straight enough to get a good start.

      @Earl James my car is set up with narrowed 9 inch 4 link with a diagonal bar on the bottom.
      Car won't launch straight.
      Any suggestions ?

    • @cammontreuil7509
      @cammontreuil7509 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Earl James I switched rear tires from one side to the other. Still car pulls at a launch.
      I ended up breaking the link connecting to the drivers side rear end.

    • @cammontreuil7509
      @cammontreuil7509 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Earl James Same direction. Locker. 5.13's. tire's 29 inch tall.

      @cammontreuil7509 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Earl James I appreciate your input and interest..
      When it comes to Motors I never have a problem. But....
      This suspension is a new one to me.
      Tire is Protrac Street Pro 375/60-15.
      I have the heim joints.
      Gusseted to rear axle. That's where I had it break. I'm going to reenforce it.
      "Set it neutral ". Don't know what that is.
      Coil over shocks and springs. It's standard set up. With one bar diagonal across the bottom. No sway bar.
      I would estimate the car was built 50 years ago. When I dismantled the engine, still had original cam bearings. 1964 top oiler.
      The speed parts dated to 1968 and 1969.
      All in all the car is street friendly and easy to drive doesn't over heat. Originally it had set up 2 800 double pumpers. I switched to 2 600 marine carbs which made the car behave off idle. But at 30 mph, if you step on the gas the car wants to turn sideways.

    I love the fe but you have to spend alot more to get them to compete with the 385 series i would still like to own one regardless

    • @AmericanThunder
      @AmericanThunder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A bone stock 427 FE side oiler made something like 475+ hp. There is no factory 385 that will touch those numbers. The heads flow big. So a simple cam swap will liven them up.

  • @maximusvonce1381
    @maximusvonce1381 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    To get 860hp out of 427 you gotta gave massive drag roller cam and 14:1 compression and spin to 8k rpm or more. Not a street car at all. Valvetrain wont last on street car like this.

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it's not a 427, it's a 490, so that helps a bit. But still, you have to have some high compression to make 860 even out of a 490. Probably don't need 8k rpm though.
