  • Hi, welcome to my channel!
This is one of a few Oncidium Alliance orchid types I recently added to my collection because of its variegated leaves, an unusual trait in Oncidiums.
Being also a Tolkien's fan, I couldn't pass on an orchid that bears the name of one of the most famous characters in The Lord of the Rings books. For those familiar with the lore, Shelob is the giant spider inhabiting the pass of Cirith Ungol. Frodo barely escapes her on his way to Mordor during his quest to destroy the One Ring.
Bratonia is an intergeneric hybrid between the orchid genera Brassia and Miltonia. True to its name, this Brassia hybrid's flowers have a spider-like shape. They are also slightly fragrant.
I grow this orchid in a mix of small bark and sphagnum moss, in bright indirect light, and I water only when almost dry.
Thanks for watching and feel free to leave a comment and subscribe to the channel for more content. See you on the next one!
