Ultra inclusive and intersectional lily white Vermont, which has more BLM signs & flags per capita than just about anywhere else except Cambridge & Berkely, has established a significant cohort of race-shifting pretendians (Vermont Abenaki) because in Vermont, self-declared identity trumps all. To question anyone’s sacred self-declared identity is to commit genocide via one or all of the 3 original sins of racism, colonialism and transphobia. Meanwhile, the gap between the rich and the poor grows ever wider, and the cultural landscape of Vermont more and more resembles Marin County California.
The ignorant comments regarding the dynamics of race shifting in VT-NH is astounding herein by some defendians and in fact, by some pretendian "Abenaki" defenders. SMH. Homer St. Francis Sr. wasn't Abenaki, Ralph Swett wasn't Abenaki. Howard Knight Jr. wasn't Abenaki. David HIll wasn't Abenaki. Nancy Millette wasn't Abenaki. 99.9% percent of them were and are NOT ABENAKI. Judy Dow is not Abenaki, Lisa Brooks is not Abenaki, and the list goes on. Frederick M. Wiseman is not Abenaki either. It's not that these pseudo-Abenaki CPAIN groups do not have a native ancestor in the 1600s or 1700s, indeed some of them do, but it is a 99-to-1 ratio type dynamic. Certainly, when OBJECTIVE research has been done, the result is that the recognition process in VT was "cooked up" and FRAUDULENT from the beginning to the end of it. The complicity with state politicians naive to Native identity, sovereignty, etc helping these CPAIN groups is astounding. Even some Abenakis at Odanak have been also complicit in the manufacturing of fake "Abenaki" "tribes" south of the border, in the Northeast, as well as others from other tribal nations, because they sought to feed their EGO's and it was and is profitable for them, to the detriment of their own community. In conclusion, scratching the surface doesn't get answers. Dig deeper into these fake "Abenaki" genealogists and the group's histories. Most people have never wanted to take the necessary time and do their homework regarding these groups. They would rather sleep with the LIES than acknowledge they have duped and lied to, or to seek out the Truth and Reality of these race shifting dynamics here in Vermont and New Hampshire.
I am French Canadian (Québécois) and we’ve had very good relations with all of the First Nations except for Mohawks (escalated in 1990), to be honest we never did and they were allied to the English and Dutch. The following are friends: Huron Algonquin Susquehannock Erie Neutral Petun Odawa Ojibwe Wenro Mahican Innu Abenaki Enemies: Mohawks Oneida Seneca Onondaga Cayuga But it’s just the Mohawks that we’ll be enemies with forever.
Apparently the Mohawks killed some abenaki from my great mother's side ( Bolduc's house) during a native war ? We have an ancestors house in the village of Pointe du lac ( French Canadian side) ... Documents were found there & pictures of her but no name. Wondering if there is birth records 🤔 or anywhere to start a research 🤔 Mohawks definitely enemies .
What if I am French Canadian from Pointe du lac ancestry & I have one great grand mother Abenaki odanak that came ( rivière St-Francois ) & pictures of her but no name or a francisised name . I am just a French Canadian ? I am curious tough about the culture.. My mother has darker skin & black hair sister looks native & it was always on my mind. Is there any genealogy or DNA reference 🤔 ?
That's easy your GG would belong to the Ababaki so you'd have cousins that of course would know you your GG would have sisters and brothers 😉 there decendance would be your cousin ...if you can't do that im sorry it just a story ...
This ad is using our tribal logo and we are not one of the 4 Vermont tribes. We are Ko'asek (Co'wasuck)Traditional Band of the Sovereign Abenaki Nation and the yellow logo is not a Vermont tribe. Please make a correction.
@Loyalist1 Clearly your CPAIN group formed in 2006 or 2008 seeks fraudulent recognition under VT - NH State Laws through the Legislature. By your very corporation UNDER State Laws, your alleged Sovereignty was never held in the first place, to the present. It's not something you can lay down, walk away from, and then later simply pick up and claim to have held in perpetuity. Sovereignty is an ENGLISH-derived word. Logo's are for COLONIZERS who don't really understand Indigenous Realities. It's like waving around a FLAG, i.e. Planting a flag, like the Colonizers have always done, implying "This is MINE now" simply because you have a logo. You are not one of the 4 fraudulent "tribes" recognized by and under State Laws, of either New Hampshire or Vermont, but that does not make you ANY LESS ILLEGITIMATE and any less of appropriators (culture vultures against the Abenaki ancestors and Abenakis of today and tomorrow. So with that Paul Bunnell, have a nice day.
Why? They're calling out race-shifting. 50 years ago none of these VT and NH "tribes" even existed. That I had a French ancestor who, 400 years ago married a Native American/First Nations woman, does not make me Native/First Nations. Good call Odanak. VT should really consider rescinding state recognition for these groups.

There are Mohawk who moved near to Montreal in the old days because they were allied to the French. Kahnawake descend from French allied Natives.

Some of the tribes you named as friends are no more,the iroquois wiped them out.
@@sarahsokalwow that is fascinating! Can I contact you to hear more about this!?! I am an historian doing research.

Fake. Fraud. Pretendian. Like Buffy Sainte-Marie.
Watso wants Native Nuremberg laws.

Canadians need to mind their own business.

Why don't the Vermont people mind their own business instead of putting on costumes and stealing someone else's identity?
tribe is not a nationality
@Maas pee pee
It is now because of colonialism.
