I own THAR 4*4 Diesel AT monthly occasional trip of 1000km ( up and down ) , me, my wife and 2 kids , in highways cruising at 90-100 feels like heaven. I have roof carrier installed after market. in bad roads it feels little uncomfortable but still not much complainable , but in city good roads this is too good. Over all best purchase, i m seeing many comments that they cancel the booking or change to some other car, i would request them to take rental thar for 100 km atleast with family and decide : ) or wait for 5 door thar if you feel cramped. I just feel invincible while driving Thar. Thar is not for you if you - drive at very high speed (above 110 ) - big family - family with elderly people upto age 40 or 45 you can easily drive this around : ) My opinion about Thar :) ,
I do drive on highways and I drive at high speeds while doing Delhi -Mumbai long stretches in a single day itself. Heart says to buy Thar but brain says to go for virtus. Currently I have XUV300 Turbo Sport. That is stable even at 185 What would you suggest ? Thar or Virtus
Thar owner here (Honest Review - 2 months) I bought thar for myself but i also travel with my family. so we're family of 4 (Dad,Mom, Me and My sister) my dad is 6'2, im 6'3, my mother is 5'5 and my sister is 5'7. so i drive the car mostly and my dad sits beside me and my mom and sis at the rear. they both are very comfortable they said it themselves we've done long trips like 1000-1500 kms (w/ short stops ofc) and i also sat in rear seat tbh i was okay but the head room for me was good enough and leg room. was okay. *EDIT:* -Also the people who cried alot about mileage this car isn't made for those who needs 19-20+ kmpl. i get 13-16 kmpl in city and minimum 17 to 19 or 20 on highways. (Thar 4X4 MT Diesel).
where does the luggage goes for a 1000 km plus trip with 4 people ??? Dont tell me, your family trip including your mom and sis dont carry anything even on longer trips.

Actually this car reminds people about Willy's Jeep, widely used in 1945 in US Army , as light transport vehicle for a small number of troops and even gun carriage. A multipurpose as transport and patrol vehicle in war torn areas (WW-II) and later inducted in Indian Army in 1954. Shakeen people were ready to pay premium even for military disposal in second hand market.
Willy was successful in cities for obvious reasons. Bad roads and less cars and almost no options to pick. Things have changed now. Even the mediocre cars now drive up the hills easily. It's a trash vehicle with much better options available.

I drive a Prado . So wanted a second off roader like thar .. I like the looks which resemble wrangler. But the entry and exit seats in problematic. The drive is good . But seating is little too tight. Back windows do not open if u need fresh air . The car gives u a very compact feeling . Little too crampy .. over all style is good . But not worth the hype . 🙏
This look better than wrangler due to its ratio of length width and height, even G wagon does not stand in front of it in looks if you ignore the merc logo. 😊

Safocation might also be the issue kyuki rear windows cannot be opened. 4. In india many people have vomiting issues in a vehicle specifically cars. Ulti gadi mai hi ho jayegi. No wonder the vehicle looks really good but not an ideal car.

It's good. Vibration km hai or mileage depends but approx 12-13 in Chandigarh city. The clutch is super light but the gear-changing system is not much good. But no comfort as I am 5’10.

No. It's not comfortable for even a single person because the seats have no thigh support, the vibrations inside the cabin is very high, the suspension is very stiff and you feel the road way too much..
Yes it is, me and my friend traveled from Pune to igatpuri in Thar D HT MT 4x4 and trust me I slept like a baby for 5 straight hours. It’s a tough car made for all circumstances. You can go for it. If you need it for city drives you should go for 4x2.

Its like comparing a moto cross bike with a tourer. A tourer is a tourer after all and a scrambler won’t give you the comfort you expect from a tourer. But it’ll take you offroad very well. Thars only good as a 3rd vehicle in the house in addition to a sedan !!!

Yeah look this isnt a family car. No way. Ive driven it and unless your wife is a fanatic thar enthusiast, she is going to crib the minute she sits in it till she gets off. It made the exp horrible for my friend. Plus you have a kid in the back, they would want the windows half way down. For a single guy, married no kids (remember the spouse should a wee bit adventurous) its amazing.. otherwise look at the 700 or 300
