I had the 7800 AND the Master System! My childhood was spent playing Ballblazer and Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap instead of Mario games, and I don't regret it.
My Aunt and Uncle had a Master System, one of my earliest memories is playing games like Alex Kidd (the built-in version), Asterix, Sonic 1, Spider-Man and Sonic Chaos.
The Master System was the first game console I played and led to me sticking with Sega throughout those years before they bailed from the console making business. It had a wonderful library of games and the Master System 1 looks very unique, almost like a faceted gem.
Just picked up a North American Sega Master System 2 at my local game store and I've become obsessed. I already had an original SMS and a handful of decent games but now I'm all in!
I was one of those wierd kids that never had a nes but had 2 sega master systems.. i got the second one after the 1st stopped working. I remember it coming packed in with missle defense 3d
On @15:00 I can easily recognize the italian distributor Giochi Preziosi's logo ("Precious Games" translated, but Preziosi was also the surname of its owner) on the box. In fact, this company distributed the Master System here in Italy and the success was HUGE, especially with the Master System II and the advent of Sonic. The world is awesomely strange: in Italy & UK the Master System totally surpassed the NES in console sales, which still sounds strange to me. But, when it come to handhelds nothing changed than the rest of the World: the Game Boy totally dominated the sales!
Here in merka' I was the weird sega kid. I'm glad I was. Phantasy Star changed my whole view on what games could be. Plus, the Sega first party stuff in general was quality stuff.
I had an NES and a Game Gear so I was covered but the Master System packaging in the shops always mesmerized me. I have a japanese master system now and I love it, wish they had made more games for it.
There're more than 300 games on the Master System. It has no shortage of games. Great thing is, they're all region free and almost all PAL games will run fine on NTSC systems (the only exception i can think of is Power Strike II).
I never played a Sega Master System as a kid (NES kid). I recently got an Everdrive for my Genesis. Put all the SMS games on it. I love the Ninja Gaiden games on NES and the new modern 3d ones too. Well, I noticed that there was a SMS version of NG. I booted it up, thinking that I'd play it for a few minutes.. and move on, thinkin that it can't possibly be near as good as the NES version. After booting it up... omg... I played it all night until I finished it. Ninja Gaiden SMS .. DAMN GOOD GAME! I have discovered numerous bangers on SMS since then. Side note: I'm so glad CGR is back.. comfort food.
The master system was bad ass. Anyone who says otherwise just never played one at the time. It was a great time, the NES and Master System. Some friends had master systems, and myself and others had the NES. Great gaming era.
8:51 - Those aren't potato chips, they're lemon wedges. And when you kill Robster, there's a puddle of butter on top of him instead of blood. This is glorious and humorous attention to detail.
I was like 6 or 7, but started with the NES, I missed all that you listed in the intro unfortunately. It’s fun now to check these out to see the previous gen.
I had one as a kid. My first gaming console. Games were good but it was crushed by the NES, impossible to rent any games and the arrival of the Genesis later on. Still in my top ten consoles of all time because of the arcade feel of the games and childhood memories. Sometimes we were joining the NES of a friend and my Sega Master System for an afternoon bash videogames with a lot of friends. Memories again.😊
Here’s a little bit of useless but interesting trivia I learned about one of the master system’s less celebrated card games, F-16 Fighting Falcon. If you play f-16 on a Sega Mark 3, you can connect the mark 3 to a sk-1100 keyboard, which gives you more options and controls than the default twin pads. More importantly, you can connect the keyboard to another mark 3 keyboard setup through their printer ports and unlocks a 2 player mode! Should you ever have two crts, two mark 3s, two sk-1100 keyboards, and two copies of f-16, you can share in the near monochrome mediocrity WITH A FRIEND! Also said monochrome is because the master system is running f-16 in a sg-1000 mode…something that wasn’t brought over to the power base converter. Sorry everyone, but you can not play f-16 fighting Falcon on the Genesis…
Crosssing my fingers for an ultimate CD-i review (yes I know, I have issues), come on Mark don’t fail me now. Show us the FMV glory that was absent from our childhoods!
Your channel picture has a date on it. But I need to know which date format that is. Is that January 1st 2024 or 1st January 2024? Or even 24th January year 1? I need to know. ;)
I had one of these growing up , while my buddies had the NES... I loved the thing 👌 dick tracy broke my heart when it kept stalling on the second stage .. Aztec Adventures ruled my life back then too . Great memories!
Ok I'm sorry but are all your videos a collection of other videos because that's how the algorithm worked but you're also very funny but my real question is if you have a speech impediment or maybe Canadian 😊
I mean after the nes and master system came out .I never looked back at atari .the atari 2600 was ok for it's time but after the sega and Nintendo it was over
I remember back in 1989, my friend David had a sega master system, and I would go to his house to play it with him...but the bastard would never let me try, he would hog it and almost never let me play, I had to sit there and watch him while he played Kenseiden, Quartet, Outrun, Phantasy star, and a bunch of other cool games which I also never got to play. On my birthday in 1990, my dad got me a Turbografx-16 with R-type, Victory Run, Blazing lazers, Keith courage and Chew man fu, and didnt invite the jerk over once. That guy was such a douche.
sparkster md better than truxton. best md game but should played hard otherwise missing levels. on those days we only got spectrum zx lack of any galactic blast processing even lack of catridges. it load games music tapes lol. do you know music tape loading sound waiting 30 minutes to load title screen like titus.
No disrespect my guy .but why would u swap a MASTER SYSTEM for an atari 7800 .some old atri games 😊are dope.but after the nes and sega master system.atari was done .I can't think of 1 Atari game that made me think I need an atari
Sorry that I have to break it to you but there's no such thing as blast processing. It was all just a sales ploy, something made up by marketing to sell the Genesis.
Altered Beast was the experience right after playing Atari. Too tough on your judgement. Who played that in the past totally ends with no problem… you don’t know how to play, we can see…

Heck yeah! I donated that Master System II :D

"Feel the precursor to Blast Processing!" - Mark Bussler (Classic Game Room)
The master system rocks and so does CGR!
We had the master system and the nes in the 80s this brings back so much memories 👍🏿
I was one of the few, one of the proud, who had the SMS in my area back then. I love and still love this system! Great reviews Mark!😁😁
I was one of those wierd kids that never had a nes but had 2 sega master systems.. i got the second one after the 1st stopped working. I remember it coming packed in with missle defense 3d
Omfg I remember this channel from when I was in college.
That was like... 12 years ago!?
Same, but it was more like seventeen years ago, for me.

Sweet! I will get one when Alex Kid in Thunder Force world comes out.

Thanks for the clarification!

I would say that the Master System is more a bunch of trapezoids stuck together, not triangles.
Fanstasy zone looks awesome
Classic classic game room.
