    The fact that you could get this synth, plus a Poly D (or Minilogue XD), plus a TR-8s all for just about $2000 is absolutely mindblowing.
    You could conquer the world of synthesis with just the three of those

    It is May 2024 as I comment. I’m waiting for a back-order Hydrasynth Explorer to arrive. One patch I hope to try writing when it does arrive is one with a basic sawtooth waveform, a macro controlling the level an FM modulation similar to a 70s-era dishwasher filling up, volume tremolo controllable from the modulation strip to simulate a rinse cycle and white noise contained separately by a filter cutoff, adjustable by the poly aftertouch.
    I know, kinda weird.

    That was powerful, the sheer variety of sonic textures emerging from the Hydrasynth reminds me of that moment I bought my first XTK wavetable synth and full of anticipation and excitement I rushed home and lost myself in it for days programming new and genuinely original sounds. Leap forward several years, and technology manifest in the form of the Hydrasynth has made this level of power in synthesis accessible at reasonable prices. ASM are to be congratulated for having the vision to bring this synthesizer into the world with its highly accessible user interface and enormous scope for programming truly diverse and original sounds.

    I'm amazed at Daniel Foster's talent and knowledge and his ability to teach and yet again, another synth goes on my wish list. My wife says it's a disease. LOL. Great job, Daniel Fisher. I could watch your videos where you play synths for hours and I always learn a lot as well. At about 5:10 you had it sounding a lot like an iconic Jupiter to me, BTW. Keep up the great work. Now I want to go compare the module version with this one. Hopefully you have a video for that. I'll admit I'm still listening to and watching this video as I type this, so maybe you mention it later. I want to figure out what the module brings to the table over this model. So far, I just see a MIDI through port and some RGB pads added but I like having a keyboard on a synth, even a small.one.

The ASM may be a little brighter from hearing it in demos. Still, I have been wanting one since the 1st version. this probably will get some vibes that the Wavestate does not get, and in the end, it's all amazing that we can get these for so cheap compared to the old days of 6K synths.

      As far as I know, the Explorer has all the functionality the original Hydrasynth has, except for the ribbon controller and 12 fewer keys. Keys are shrunk. Mod/pitch wheels replaced with touch strips. But all the same functionality of those is still there, if in a slightly different form.

    Hey daniel, what do you think are the benefits of getting this vs hydrasynth desktop and what do you think about the built in effects vs free vsts?

    • @antagonizingusername
      @antagonizingusername 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since the desktop and explorer are very similarly sized, it’s pretty much just down to what you value in a synth. If keys are a must and ease of programmability isn’t your number one priority, go for the explorer. But if keys aren’t a necessity for you to enjoy a synth and you really want 8 master control knobs instead of 4, then go for the desktop. Something to note is that most midi controllers don’t support poly aftertouch, so if you go for the desktop that’s something you’re probably gonna miss out on when you feel like playing the keys with it.

    Hey Daniel, are these custom patches or will they come with the Hydrasynth?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Vincenzo. Although I did a lot of real-time tweaking to each of them, those presets were installed in the Hydrasynth Explorer prototype. I believe that they will be available for all four of the Hydrasynth models. -_Daniel_
