I love her "Babbler" bits, like the one's that started and ended this video. I also love the part where she's asking questions to William F. Buckley. In that bit, the look on the faces of Ruth Buzzi and Arte Johnson are priceless. If you can get that kind of reaction out of your peers, you know you've got the goods.
I grew up near Burbank and in 1968 when I got my first car at 17, I would go to a lot of Laugh In tapings. Surprisingly they weren't well attended. Always under 100 in a studio that would seat about 250/300. One time between skit setups I went to the vending matchings that were in the service corridor and there in front of me at the candy machine was Goldie Hawn in a bikini and her painted tattoos. I wanted to say something, but I was at a loss for words. Many times between setups I would wander the backstage corridors and walk right pass a lot of celebrities and no one said anything or tried to stop me. Bob Hope, Danny Thomas, Sammy Davis Jr, Carrol Burnett to name some. I know that couldn't happened today. Different era.
Forgot how hot Lily looked back then. I was about 14-15 back then. Of course, it turns out that she swings from the other side of the plate, but I still enjoyed her humor anyway. My wife to be looked hot in a miniskirt back then too. Today at age 70, not so much. But then, for that matter, I don’t look so good in a miniskirt, either! 🤣😝😂🤮
Lily Tomlin is actually the best telephone operator ever made
I really love hearing Lily Tomlin's laugh.
