  • The Sutro Baths once stood at Lands End, in San Francisco, California. A massive, ornate structure that housed salt-water and fresh-water pools open to the public, destroyed by fire.

So interesting. What a magnificent building it was. German ingenuity

I thought Adolph was a silver baron and owned and funded the projects in that area, but the designers, builders and workers were not German at all.

Amazing what a man with a dream and some capitol can accomplish in the country.

Capital. "Capitol" is the building where legislators meet.

Amazing that that property hasn’t been used for something else. Property right on the water like that must be hugely valuable.

The government owns it now. Its off limits to redevelopment. They call it a "park".

There’s only one public saltwater swimming pool that I know was still in existence bk in the 1980 and it was an saltwater fed pool on the coast of NJ in Springlake. We used to go there all the time when I was a kid. I don’t know if it’s still there or not.

I actually think that pool is still there in Springlake, could be wrong though!

We should ask the question as to how? Where did they get this technology that could pump insane amounts of water? How did they build such a grandiose building it in such a remote location on a “cliff side”?
Nonetheless, great video! Looking forward to more!

That's really interesting. Ironically, my hometown is where, what once was, the largest OUTDOOR swimming pool once was and around the same time, lol. (And seem to have similar features.) If interested look up Dreamland Public Swimming Pool in Huntington (more specifically Kenova) WV. And I know what you're thinking, San Fran and Huntington, WV could be sister cities...😆😆😆

My friend knew a guy who was hired to be the caretaker at the Sutro tunnel library. We asked him if i could park my
Ford van on the property overnight.
He said sure...so I parked right in front
of the Sutro tunnel and slept overnight with my 86 Husqvarna next to me. Sunday was the annual Virginia City GP which I raced in. It was creepy getting out of the van to take a leak while looking into the dark tunnel that so many
miners died in.😮😮😮 This was in 1986

Sounds like the "arsonists" were actually the building owners committing insurance fraud. That's what the incentives seem to point to. Great video once again.

I really enjoy your vids. Just a tip, TH-cams algorithm gives more exposure if videos are a minimum of 10 minutes. It might help your channel grow to increase the the average videos length to at least 10 to 11 minutes.

ones that study which videos do better on the algorithm. plus AdSense is usually higher rates for longer videos which equate to more watch time which does better in the algorithm

Some BillionaireS should team up & create a reform center for abused kids. Give them some ocean to build on. Builders & tradesman would visit a week at a time to vacation & teach. Park your damn MEGA yacht right down the beach too quit being so damn stingy with that damn monstrosity. Give those kids free use of it

    • @mikesanders4012

@ale. jandro I agree, if they were allowed. Once word got around that you're kicked out fast for such behavior ( high expectations work). Proper training & quality faculty that teaches in tough love. Having them involved in the building process helps.
No, no government interferes. That would eff it up quick
