  • This is how I build my battery cables for my solar setup. I'm using 1/0 cable with a 600V rating. I'm not going to go through how to compute the size of the wire because I'm not qualified to do that. But I do know without a doubt that my cables are well over the necessary specs for my system.
I threw color coding out the window for a variety of reasons. First, you have wire color and terminal color, so you have to decide what means what, and when you do series wiring, you can't have it all match. You're going to have red OR black wire, but the ends will connect to both the red and black terminals. So my plan was to just say that the wire color doesn't matter, just pay attention to the terminals. But inevitably, I needed to add something and didn't have all the materials. So, I ended up breaking my pattern. The key is to NEVER rely on wire color. Check everything fice times before you connect!!!
I'll update soon with links to the products I used. I've been happy with the results after running for about 4 months.
