When Annaththe failed, everyone blamed Rajini. But, when Beast failed, everybody blames Nelson but not Vijay & Sun Pictures. When I saw Beast, I literally felt it was not the typical Nelson style of film making. Both his previous films were about Team work. But in Beast it was maily a One Man Army, coz Sun might have told him to make so. Yet, we all blame Nelson who gave two really good film back. This was perfectly said by Prashant - reviewer

Investment - How much was Vijay paid - cost of movie (incld Nelson's take) = ? Even this movie made net profit exceeding expectation, it will be against the expectations of discerning audience. That said, the screenplay was rather mediocre, wonder if someone intervened and messed it up big time or Nelson just lacks the experience for such genre. In an age where people are increasingly adopting and accepting logic, there are still large naive group of ppl that criticize the criticizers. Hope this will be a turning point in Tamil Film industry.
