Thanks for the update, Thomas. Keep those videos coming. I've ridden motorcycles for over 50 years but only recently bought my first adventure bike and have been doing some camping here in Arizona. I learn something each time I go. I have developed a list of items to bring camping and go through the list item-by-item each time I pack to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.
A tin of beans? Thats cheating. We want to see you pull a fresh fish out of that lake with your bare hands. 💪. Cool trip, keep going and it’ll all settle into place,
Well done surviving !😂 Food does help . Maybe eat a squirrel or a fish . Squirrels got in my food bag and ate my camp food once . I hate squirrels , my food is in a hard box now. Get a sheepskin , put it on bike seat . Can also be used as a pillow , or between you and the ground , or as a cushion . Galore ! 😂 👍 I wish you many good camps . Ride safe .
Thank you, Mister! 🙏👍😊 Yes food is key, I need a good breakfast in the morning. Squirrel 🐿️ in the camp food sounds annoying, hard box it is 😁👍 Sheepskin is a great idea, nice and versatile as you say. Thank you!
I have a sheep rag on my my seat and buy those small pillow's to use air in on Amazon or some very cheap then use those as a pillow, food is the first i pack in a own bag, coffe egg's in a (hard plastic holder), bacon, bread, butter, or oil so that will never be forgotten :) Hilsen fra Eivind fra Lillestrøm.
Hi Thomas, your uploads are most enjoyable to watch and keep up the good work my friend, the camping should and will get better for you the more you camp 👍🏻
Hello from Finland. I'm on a moped trip currently. I got boiled lake water in my bottle and now I'm staying by a river. No shortage of drinkable water here
Hello Finland! 👍😊🇫🇮 Enough with the lakes! We have lakes and rivers too, you know 😁 I kid I kid. Yes, boiling water is an option, but there is still a risk, even in Finland. Stay safe, brother 👍
Thanks for taking us on your adventure! What a beautiful country you live in. So many of us don't take advantage of where we are in life. I live in SoCal and I've been to the beach once with my family this summer--working too much. Hoping to buy a motorcycle again one day.
Thank you for the nice comment! Yes, the days do seem to fly by. We're already in August, can you believe it. SoCal does seem like a nice place to live, great weather 🌡️
Hello Thomas You should try everything so you know what you need. I don’t carry my backpack on my back when riding. The weight of the helmet for me is very important aswell. Camping is great and cheap but in my situation these days are over, cheap accommodation is much better for me so I can enjoy riding with less pain and less weight on the bike. Travelling by motorcycle is not cheap and parts for motorcycles are not cheap either but we will get to that 😂 🏴 You’re doing well!
Thank you, Kristoff! I appreciate your tutelage, good Sir! 🙏😊🎉🏍️ Yeah the backpack does wear on my back quite a bit. I have a Kriega 🎒 that distributes the weight much better. It's a little small, for now. Gotta drop a few pounds first 😁
Glad you enjoyed the trip. A person will always forget certain items of necessity the first time. It will only get better. The number one priority is having good weather. That will make or break a trip. See you on the next one.
I squeeze meg legs to the bike. Recommend get your self on a gravel course. Was on my first this year. Learned much from that or watch brake magazine. Also many people are getting bigger pegs and or twinpeg(made in norway). And practice. Nice video aswell keep them coming
Buy a water filter, that way you can always refill your water bottle and don’t have to carry a big amount of water. Also a small led light hanging from the top/inside the tent is great in the middle of the night.
@@TalkTheRide Maybe you know Nomad Sweden. He has a video explaining what he brings when he goes on these trips. A very good sleeping mattress and a sleeping bag are essential because sleep is the most important factor for success. Bad sleep is a killer.
I tried Klymit inflatable pillows, but they are not better than no pillow at all. So I bought twin size latex pillow and cut it in half, then used cover from square satin decorative pillow and now I have a normal pillow for my solo trips 😁 You can put it into compression pack as well, latex is perfect in this regard I'll second the water filter, though. If you carry 2L hydration pack with you, make sure that your filter is not just a straw, but something you can fill your hydration pack as well And gosh, Norway is a safe country, but I wouldn't be able to sleep with bike hundred feet away from me 😳
Thanks for the tips, mate! I've ordered a Trekology pillow and a Hikenture pillow, both from Amazon. U heard anything about those brands? Def getting a water filter, that's a great idea 💡
I think it's great in the corners, once I got used to it. Leaning it is a little different. But- I'm not very fast to begin with, so your mileage may vary.
Love your vlogs! You should not turn the abs off on gravel. ABS keeps your motorcycle more stable if you need to stop in an emergency situation. If you are a very experienced rider and like to play around it is perhaps more fun without abs on the back wheel.
I always turn off my ABS when driving gravel. Should I need to stop a little hard and the ABS is on, it never locks the rear tire but just slides forward.
Thank you, Mats! 🙏👍 I'm a bit confused about the whole ABS thing now, when is it appropriate to turn them off, do you think? It's about skill level and experience, as a rider?
@@TalkTheRide I think you should look at Bret Tkacs channel on youtube. His videos on riding adventurebikes are great. Subjects like ABS on gravel, when stand up on your bike and why, should you air down the tires on an adv.bike and a lot more. I'm not an expert on gravel but I like to ride those roads from time to time on my V Strom. Not so much on my earlier bike a Mean Streak 1500.

Hehe yes I am not quite ready to live off the land. I'll bring bacon next time, does that count? 😂
Well done surviving !😂

As far as water goes, we use a compact backpacking water filter; saves a lot of weight.
Cool, what brand is it?
MSR (Mountain Safety Research) makes several with a small hand pump. Some attach directly to a Nalogene water bottle.
I checked it out and it looks like just what I need. Thank you, Chris! 🙏
Love your enthusiasm and solo moto camping is amazing. You will eventually figure out what works best for you. Just keep doing it.
Thank you, Andrew! 🙏👍😊 I'll keep going, nature is amazing and I love making these videos 📸 🎉

Thank you, Amos! 🙏😊👍 Glad you like it. I'll keep camping, ⛺🥾 something about it was so relaxing 👍
With all those trees a hammock set up would be excellent. Extremely lightweight.
Yes, people keep suggesting hammocks to me. I'm doing research on it (watching youtube😊)

Thank you! 🙏😊🎉 Yeah taking a class is a good idea. I'll start with some TH-cam vids first, but next season for sure 👍
The first night is usually the sleepless one. Usually it is OK after that.
👍 on my next trip I'm bringing pillows, that should help ⛺🥾
you should try a hammock, i find that waaay better for trips like this :D
I worry for the health of the trees, with me in that scenario 😁

Good idea on the water filter, thanks! 🙏 I ordered a lantern thing from Amazons camping section , all set 👍
Take a collapsible fishin' pole with you. It will be fun and you will have supper and breakfast too.
Great idea 💡 👍🙏😁
Can recommend this pillow, takes up little space, but very comfortable. Klymit Drift Camping Pillow
I've already ordered - Trekology and Hikenture, from Amazon. Do you know these brands?
@@TalkTheRide No, I am not familiar with those brands.
I got them today, they seem fine and are practically identical(!). 👍
Looks good. I would have tried to get my bike to the camp spot, so I sleep better.
Yes, got a few comments on that 😁 Next time I'll try to find a spot where I can park closer.

Hehe, yes I'll do my little Everyman Review on them 👍 😁
So how compared to your previous bike Tenere works on the road? How does it work in the corners?
