@p.wesleyburrowsjr6576 Hi! Thankyou so much! We really appreciate you watching and commenting... We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Gainsborough it is a remarkable place... especially the untouched kitchens! Best wishes to you from us both 😊
@tony8074 Hi Tony! It is 15 degrees colder here than it was in Amalfi... we needed our coats! Thanks for watching, we had a great time at Gainsborough so much to see there! Best wishes from Neil and Ant 😊
@bmj1680 Hi! Thankyou so much for watching and commenting... you are so right! It could so easily have been demolished and the land used to build houses , thank goodness it wasn't... Best wishes to you from us both 😊
Gainsboroush Old Hall is so rustic & charming with such lovely Rooms & beautifully carved Wood furnishings. As well as, such rich, dark, ornate Wood Panelling, Fireplaces, & Headboards in the bedrooms. The latticed windows are also so rustic & charming as well, along with the Servant's Area! Then there is the very intriguing looking Tower! Ooooo! The whole Manor is actually a very intriguing Place! It certainly looks like a place which could be haunted! An ethereal 'Grey Lady' holding a Candle, moving from window to window & Room to Room, looking for her 'lost love' every night. Poor soul! Oh my! Anyway, thank you lads for sharing another wonderful experience at this charming Manor House...Gainsborough Old Hall. Blessings to you both! 👻
@Annie4Always Hi Annie! Thanks for watching... we always LOVE your comments ❤️ We would have loved to see the grey lady but alas no... The house must have been very splendid when it was fully furnished... fit for not one but two kings visits! The woodwork is so beautiful, we just wondered how many times it has been polished over the years! We hope you have a lovely weekend and we send to you our very best wishes 😊
@@chrisisjustme7546 Awww! Thanks lads! So glad you enjoy my Comments just as I love your Videos. Now we're even! LOL.Aye! 'Tis true! The lustrous dark Woodwork there sure looks like it has seen a lot of Beeswax through the Centuries.Maybe that's what the 'Grey Lady' is actually doing! Floating around polishing the WoodWork every night. Oh my! That explains it all! LOL. Thanks again for sharing lads! Have a peaceful evening! 👻
Hi Neil & Ant - been meaning to get to Gainsborough Old for a while now - really enjoyed your video on it - love the tudor detailing and i like how you can go up the tower and look over the town. Thanks for sharing - have a great weekend - Don 😊
@donfranktv Hi Don! Thanks for watching buddy! We loved Gainsborough well worth a visit lots of great architectural features ... the tower is fabulous 👌 Hope you have a brilliant weekend, all the best from us both 😊

@HolmesLaneGuy Thankyou for taking the time to watch and comment... it is appreciated. Yes life was possibly less gilded in this era it was more about function and scale... pleased you're enjoying the videos! All the best from us both 😀
Thanks for taking us to this fascinating old place. Seeing the interior wooden roof structure quite interesting. You guys are looking well rested. What a contrast - from the intense heat of Italy to the autumnal damp gardens of Gainsborough !
@GabrieleTurner Hi Gabriele! Thankyou so much! Yes the holiday did us good it was so relaxing! We are back to waterproof coats now 😆 Gainsborough old hall is such a fabulous old place... the roof is incredible! We went up onto the top floors the sheer scale of it is staggering! Hope you have a great week... Best wishes sent your way from us both 😊
@dragonmartijn Hi! Thankyou so much! We go out most weeks to find a place of interest.... if we like it we will film, some places don't always give us the "tingle" so we don't... We loved Gainsborough we weren't sure what to expect but it blew us away with all it's original features! Best wishes Neil and Ant 😊
@@chrisisjustme7546 Probably you know this, but if the glass in the windows of the house is still original from the middle ages, the glass was made on the continent, probably Flanders. Only after the start of the religious wars, glass manufacturing returned back to England after the Roman decline. This means every piece of glass in the old windows needed to be shipped in, what was a tremendous cost. Have a nice day!
@dragonmartijn Great fact! We first learned this when we visited Aston Hall [ our spooky video! ] it is incredible that they had the logistics to do this and just imagine how long it would take to go from the point of manufacture to its destination in areas such as middle England... no Amazon next day then! All the best to you 😊
Good evening guys hope you are both well. We love this one we visited a while ago and were very taken with it. It looks so stunning from outside. The banquet hall is fantastic isn't it. Would have loved to have had a banquet here with Henry VIII although sounds like it got a bit wild 😆. For a timber house it has wonderful proportions. The tower is amazing and the views are fabulous. We really love that kitchen must have been such a hive of activity and there would have been such a lovely aroma. Did you see the grey lady? We didn't unfortunately 👻. We remember sitting in the tea room too 😆 . This was a wonderful tour thank you for taking us along. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
@inbetween-days Evening Dave and Dawn! We really enjoyed our visit, the house meanders so much it is easy to get lost in it! We thought it had a great atmosphere! The grey lady made our toasted tea cakes and lattes she was very hospitable 😆 seriously though we'd love to have bumped into her! The Great Hall is fabulous and strange to think that no so long after his visit King Richard ended up buried under what would become a carpark in Leicester! Thanks so much for watching and for the lovely thoughtful comment... all the best from us both 😊
Hi Neil and Ant Gainsborough Old Hall is on our to visit list Love anything Tudor so right up my street (Jo) The tower is amazing with fabulous views Might not tell Morgs about the Grey Lady 😂 Bit different weather to Italy Hope you're both well ❤
@morgsjoboo2247 Ji Guys! Thanks for watching! We had a good time at Gainsborough it's well worth a visit! Jo I would love to have seen the Grey lady we never see anything like that lol 😆 Hope you're both well... we are missing the Amalfi sunshine 🌞 All the best Neil and Ant 😊
So much ornate detailed carvings, its a wonder how these massive homes were built even within a lifetime. What do you suppose was the purpose of those beautiful large acorns hanging around the bed canopy ?
@Odo55 Hi! Thankyou for watching and commenting... we loved our visit to Gainsborough it's a wonderful old place! The acorns are a fertility symbol, so guessing it was to help make babies in their minds. The house is full of details! All the best from us both 😀
