Hmm. I don't think he gives this film or Park Chan-Wook quite enough credit honestly, but fair enough. Of course it's slightly full of itself but he's one of the few filmmakers who pulls it off well I think. Not like Tarantino who just makes me want to slap him sometimes.
@PompamooseMagique I think it's better, so much more subversive, unpredictable and very moving too. Oldboy (although great) falls into macho posturing a little too much.
Funny how their complaint is that they were put off by the movie's more sadistic scenes. What soft little boys they must be, that the fact that a movie features uncomfortable subject matter must mean it is of lesser quality. They must be really hung up about movies that were critical of Britain, like Gandhi and The Cook the Thief His Wife and Her Lover.
Had no idea he reviewed it, I loved that film.
