Without writing an essay on induction motors and hand waving a lot of details: the biggest advantage of brushless motors is they don't have things like brushes or commutators under friction, which is eventually going to cause them to fail. So brushless motors have significantly longer lives. They're also more quiet and typically more efficient.

First off, Happy Anniversary to you and the Mrs. Second, I wanted to thank you for the Ryobi videos. They gave me the confidence that I wouldn't be wasting my money, and because I was looking around online, I found that Ryobi Days aren't over. At least not online as of last night. I was able to pick up the three batteries, charger, and they're 7 1/4" circ saw for that $199. I don't usually subscribe to any TH-cam channels, but you saved me so much money with just that one tip, and I really enjoy your videos, so you definitely earned my subscription. Keep making those videos, and also thanks for helping to inspire some wanto in me. Enjoy the rest of your anniversary!

I began pronouncing Ryobi correctly years ago when I called them for a service issue. The lady who answered the phone said, "Welcome to 'ree-OH-bee". My daddy told me a long time ago that someone's name is likely their most prized possession. He told me to learn to spell it and to pronounce it. Doing anything less indicates disrespect for the person/company. Before my enlightenment with Ryobi's service department, I had a similar a-ha moment with Leupold scopes. I thought it was pronounced "LEE-uh-pold". Wrong. The lady answering their phone said, "Welcome to LOO-pold". Ever since, I have pronounced it thataway.

I picked up the new 18g Brad nailer this go round. Definitely a great deal like you said.
My one complaint about Ryobi days is that they don’t really give you deals for established Ryobi customers. Something like buy 1 tool get one 50% off or something like that.
One thing to be careful of is to make sure you get the latest version. Sometimes they have the previous model out for sale and if you don’t know that, you may get the older model.

Thanks Matt! Great explainer for the Ryobi days deals. I got the batteries+stick vac on one trip, then got the brad nailer on another. I'm very happy with both. And now I have a ton of batteries as well. I can even keep a charger by the vac, and one in the shop. Ryobi has become my "standard" these days simply because of the variety and number of tools available on the same platform. I do. have some yellow and red in the shop, but my go-to these days is Ryobi. Also, thanks for the deals website and alerts! Great stuff. :)

Excellent video. You hit the nail on the head that the shopping g experience can be somewhat confusing. I would even stress more how much superior the brushless tools are over the brushed. That brad nailer is an awesome tool and compares well to any out there, and the $199 deal is incredible. Most people who don’t like Ryobi have only used the cheapest brushed tools and have no experience with the much higher quality brushless Ryobi line.

I had just bought the 1/2in brushless impact the week before Ryobi Days started. I had not used it so I went back to HD and returned it, got the 199 battery deal and just bought the same impact (since i had already registered it) its a good impact, had no issues working on the car with it. Also got 2 of the $99 battery deals and got the leaf blower and hedge trimmer. I was already in the 18v 1+ line so now i have 7 more batteries and 3 chargers.

The fan comes in handy camping off grid, have buddies who use it for that. As far as cordless sander I don't like mine, came in a package with cordless router (which I do love). On the sander again it's the weight I don't like. I keep a soft pad on it now with 120 and use it to quickly sand edge profiles and that's it, for flat sanding the corded Bosch comes out.

I have been a Ryobi user since 2017. Back then, they had the most tools on a platform than any other platform available (and still to this day) . I have used extensively for woodworking and yard work with no issues. If your not a tool snob then it's a good deal.
By the way, the small fan has dual power either battery or plug in which is handy and has great power you can feel 20 feet away that lasts for hours

I have been migrating from Ryobi to Makita (Drill, Driver, and 36v circ saw. As well as the mower and trimmer) so didn't want to grab additional tools. But the 4, 4ah batteries for $100 was too good to pass up. Thanks for the review Matt. This was very helpful!

I've been doing the same, but I have no plans to get out of the Ryobi platform. I have a Makita drill, driver, track saw(the reason I got into the platform) and multi tool that are all upgrades over Ryobi. But, I see no reason to buy a Makita recip saw, blower, trimmer, dust buster, speakers and a few more things. There are a few things that Makita doesn't make, like hot glue guns, rotary tools, and soldering stations

The Ryobi fan can run off both a cord or a battery, which actually makes it amazingly versatile. I was building shelves this past weekend, in a garage without climate control, and it was brutally humid. While I was standing at my work table I could use outlet power to run the fan, but then when I got up on the ladder to work on the shelves I had the fan running on battery power. It totally made the humidity a non-issue. I ended up just using a battery the whole time in the end since I have enough of them to spare it but being able to do either is definitely a plus.

Ryobi has become my favorite tool platform since buying my house. I have an attached garadge that sits under two of my bedrooms, so I am not comfortable with having gas powered lawn equipment. The 40 V mower, weed eater, snowthrower attachment, and snowblower all work really well. You should try the 40 V system out. I like it as much if not more than the 18 V system for that kind of thing.

Absolutely love the six bay battery charger.

@@kelly-annflanagan7693 so when you do this ryobi days deal doesn't matter the 99$ or 199$. Pick up the 199$ battery kit then pick out your free tool. When you go to pay at register it does not ring up at 199$. The price is broken up between the batter kit and the tool you choose. For me I just wanted the one+ brad nailer because I all ready have enough batteries. So I paid the 199$ then went to my car I dropped off the brad nailer and went back into the store with the battery kit. The screen when you pay and of course the recite will show you the break down of the two items. The battery kit was 103$ and brad nailer was 96$. So I returned the battery kit for a refund and got the 103$ back.
I've done this with ryobi and Makita tools. All together I've done this I think 6 times in the past 4 yrs.

I use the $60 fan and the $24 clamp fan constantly. It's wild how often I use them around the house.

Use my 6.5 circular saw for parking lot breakdowns. The sander works for small jobs but on larger jobs, have lots of batteries charged up. personal I use both hands on the sander as with a 4ah battery its a bit heavy which is fine for rough sanding. Still have my blue corner cat and jig saws from years ago. They work just great. Love the 18gag nailer been using it since it first came out. Still using my JoBMax multi head tool. Edge trimmer is still going strong. I did not buy Ryobi for narrow usage, but for the wide breath of tools available that generally don't need to last. They fit a function and if I don't like their batteries, I have and adapter for my Makita batteries.

I got my dad a Ryobi router several years ago, and the we burned it out the first time we used it. Admittedly, we probably overdid it, going too deep too fast into hardwood(especially since it's just a trim router and we were doing grooves), but it has made me wary of getting a Ryobi router.

I got 95% of my tools are Ryobi. I totally agree with the circular saw. I got the small one and yes it’s under powered. Thanks for the info

  • @christopherzdana9060
    @christopherzdana9060 ปีที่แล้ว

Spot on with that circular saw. Easily one of the most underpowered tools I've ever purchased (many years ago). I dont even know what it's meant for. Maybe sheet goods? It's not cutting much else.
For me, the best deal is the $99 4 battery deal. I have what I need/want from Ryobi. My wife would like a battery powered string trimmer for herself, though. Wish that was on the deals.
Thanks for the vid! Ryobi Ryobi.

Wow! Thanks for this one. I was in Home Despot just an hour ago looking at the pin nailer. It was 189 and was really considering it. I didn't buy it only because I wanted to do a bit more research on pin nailers. I have a Harbor Fright pneumatic nailer that doesn't. For another $10 for three batteries, it's a no brainer. I think I have10 Ryobi batteries from other deals but I can probably find a home for the smaller ones. Thanks again, Matt!

I went back to Hoe Depot today to grab the pin nailer. It wasn't the pin nailer in the Ryobi Days sale, rather the brad nailer. Oh well...

Comment on the fan: It's perfect for camping. I live in the South and the run time will go all night and keep me cool in the tent. I haven't run the battery out, so I can't speak to the total run time. It's nice because I don't have to plug in a fan or use expensive "D" size batteries like other camping fans. It also has the option to plug in 110V standard outlet.

The Ryobi Days deal on the HP Brad nailer for me was a no brainer. My wife got it for me for Father’s Day, and I gave my brushed model to my dad for Father’s Day.

hi Matt, been binging your videos! appreciate the hard work you put into them!
for a beginner like myself, which would you choose between:
-this ryobi router + some other router table or building one
-the skil router table combo you speak so highly of
    appreciate your insight!

Been wanting a cordless brad nailer. Plus I have some of the older Ryobi tools (when they were blue) that should work with the same batteries. Mainly the circular saw is the one I am interested in getting working. we shall see as I ordered the 199 deal with the brad nailer. Thanks for the heads up

Dude your AWESOME!! Love your content and had no idea about Ryobi Days. Thank you for explaining this. Started buying my Wife Ryobi tools, she has her green and I have my red (Milwaukee). This leads me to the next question. Seeing how you have a buddy at TTI, let us know when Milwaukee days are. Or when is the best deals for saving some $$ is.

Battery powered fan may seem senseless until you're living in the Las Vegas desert and the power goes out for two to three hours on a sunny July afternoon (which it did just a few days ago). Then all of a sudden that little fan is worth every penny. I don't regret that purchase one bit.

I don't have to Ryobi fan, but the Milwaukee cousin. I can confirm that it works best when out and about with kids when there is a lack of a breeze. It won't knock you over by any means, but it will quiet them down a touch.

I have the brushed brad nailer. I'm curious what the difference is? Does it drive the nail harder? I guess it gets better battery life but I've put tons of nails in and it sips power.

You could buy the Ryobi deal for the vacuum to get the batteries and take the vac back for the refund on the first. I did that with a different tool. You can try your router using the 2ah battery which I find minimizes the top heavy. I think it's great for that. Great shows by the way.

I have been using Ryobi tools since they were the dark blue color. I have always been happy and they have improved them so much since the early days. The only other brand I use is Dewalt drills and weed trimmer. I will say that the Ryobi cordless radio I got on this deal last year was very disappointing. Station reception on it was/is very poor. Thanks for doing this video.

I got into Ryobi for the cordless caulking gun, and then bought a whole bunch of the clamp fans for my rabbits.
I’ve been bitten by the bad deal bug at Home Depot before too - I’d just return your vacuum and buy it back as part of the deal!
I buy a lot of Ryobi stuff from Direct Tool (which just had a crazy 50% off sale that I missed out on!)
Thank you for the video Matt!
