If your air-cooled lawn mower can run full open for an hour or two with no air flowing over the cooling fins with 10W30 then your motorcycle should have no problem.

Harley's solution to this would be to making a reliable engine again, like the EVO was. Then Harley Head Office does not have to worry about people buying after market parts for repair. But as the story roomered goes. When the EVO engine was being manufactured, dealers were complaining about lack of repairs and they could not make money. Here comes the Twin Cam with it's compensator issues, and the cam chain followers. Harley ought to learn something from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. Reliability, reliability, reliability. I sure know a lot of Metric crusier retailers that have been doing just fine without all the repairs for their reliable machines. So Harley, what gives? Why do you build defects into your motorcycles? I have had 9 metric motorcycles in my 72 year life. I have had two Harleys recently as an end of life bucket list. But in all my years of metric bike riding, never have I had mechanical failure points constantly on my mind, as I do when riding my Harley. Component failure is a reality with Harley, even after making motorcycles for a hundred years. I see plenty of videos of Harley die hards that love working on the failures of their Harleys almost like a religion. I am sorry. I would rather be riding my motorcycle than repairing it. And I want to know that I am safe riding it.

      Drama queen.
I have two Harleys, a 2007 Sportster and a 2005 Softail, and they run pretty fine, with more than 80,000 km each. No issues. What I've observed from others is lack of maintenance when mechanical issues arise, and by that I mean real lack of maintenance, like no oil change even after 20,000 km or past five years. Really? And I think the idea that a Harley is an indestructible machine is deeply ingrained in those owners, which aren't a few. So things happen and they blame poor quality and no reliability of the machine. I've seen it directly too many times. And I've seen few Sportster, which are well and properly maintained, that surpass the 250,000 km with no top or bottom end service at all ever.
So, yeah, I've seen too many drama queens too.

In 2002 I bought a brand new Harley, the dealer sold me a stage one screaming eagle kit and they installed it. At a 1000 miles I took the bike in for its first service. The oil tank was full and all was good, 200 miles the bike was out of oil, it was over heating, it had a miss, it was just falling down. Right away I took it to the nearest dealer, they took one look at the air cleaner and told me I had no warranty on the bike. Then I called the Harley 800 number and they told me I had no warranty. 1200 miles on a new bike, a dealer installed part and that voided the warranty. My first and last Harley. I own three Harley Davidson motorcycles. ALL were bought USED. The newest is a 2006. No warranties to worry about. No EFI tuners either, as mine are all CARBURETED. But anybody who chooses to buy an EFI bike, and I certainly don't recommend it (All H-D Sportsters and full sized bikes through the end of the Twin Cam era can be converted to carburetors, something I DO highly recommend. It won't cost you any more than a $1000 tuner and wide band O2 sensors. And you will get rid of all those unreliable and failure prone computerized electronics, and make it super easy to work on and tune your bike. But if you do want to put an aftermarket exhaust on your EFI Harley Davidson motorcycle, it WILL require a NON EPA approved tuner, and new wide band O2 sensors. It's the only way to get the air/fuel mixture rich enough to prevent burning up your engine. And since Harley Davidson started kissing the EPA's ass, you will NEED both an aftermarket exhaust and tuner to make you bike sound like a Harley should. I really don't care if H-D goes out of business. They no longer make real Harleys anymore, and certainly don't make anything I want. I have never been a fan of H-D, only the bikes they USED to make. The M8 engine bikes are as smooth as a Honda Goldwing, and sound about like one as well. They do not meet my definition of a "Harley" And they just discontinued the Sportster, the only bike they made that could still reasonably be called a REAL Harley. So since H-D no longer has a reason for existence, it is time for them to go bye bye. They have betrayed their customers, their company, and their heritage. And they need to pay for that.

Most HD riders I've met know nothing about motorcycles, AND they're terrible riders. They're OK at going in a straight line in a group, that's about it. There were three 20+ year HD riders in the MSF returning rider course a few years ago when I started riding again after 30 years. They were awful, couldn't turn in less than a 50 foot radius, put their feet down all the time, really just almost no skills. They got way better in just 3 hours of time on the range, which leads me to believe that they have spent less than 3 hours in their previous 20 years actually working on any skills.
I spend hours a year in a parking lot working on skills.
HDs are mostly jewelry for dentists that wear leather on the weekend.
There are certainly exceptions. I've met HD riders who are skilled, ride a bunch of different types of bikes, and are excellent mechanics. But from what I can tell that's about 1 in 50 riders.

As soon as you change something, you get told your warranty is affected. I was told the same thing about my Jeep. You gotta be able to fix it right where it is. If I need wifi, and special permission, I can’t fix your truck. The presenter has a nice voice but his script is unclear, even to this aged biker who practised law for decades. Three issues appear to be there and they are presented as one which I suspect is not the case. Many of us are not U.S.A. resident and are unfamiliar with the goings on there. So even more confusing.
The major issue I think I grasped:
    (1) If you buy a new H.D. motorcycle the company provide you with the minimum length of warranty which the law insists on? Some of the warranty provisions are not told to the buyer? If so, immensely odd! And, if during thev warranty period non- H.D. parts are fitted such can invalidate the entire warranty? Here in the U.K. such has always been the case with most or all sellers (certainly since I started biking in the 60s) and is reasonable, strictly provided that the seller dealer exercises this provision fairly - reasonably linking a parts failure to a non-standard part fitted.
The thing to bear in mind with warranties is that if they are unfair a buyer always has alternative rights either embodied within statute or common law. So, a warranty booklet never comprehensively controls the legal playing field.
But such can be an academic point when, as nearly always, legal fees are far greater than whatever sum of money one seeks by way of compensation!
    (2) I was unable to even get to the start line on points 2 and 3. Something appears to be preventing a H.D. owner from using the services of a non-H.D. dealership? No idea what this is about?
    (3) Again likewise on this point, clueless what the message was? There are two types of parts - offical H.D. parts and copycat parts? Something appears to be preventing non-H.D. dealerships sourcing one or both categories? If so, this may be indirectly making it impractical to utilise the services of a non-H.D. dealership to carry out servicing / repairs? If so, then I accept that such intertwines points 2 and 3.
Please bear in mind when presenting videos, particularly when such involve technical legal issues, that we the watchers (for whatever reason) are in the main not already sharply in tune with such matters. We need to be sequentially led through the issues in a way that a bright eleven year old listener would comprehend. Being patronising in this instance to us listeners would be appreciated.

Many years ago there was a local HD dealer telling people they had to use HD brand motor oil .
like Harley doesn't buy the cheapest oil they can and slap there label on it

Absolutely my recommendations are stay right away from Harley Davidson dealerships altogether…!!!
Sy’s Harley Davidson told me my compensator needed changing, then also started telling me my starter motor needed to be replaced. This is when I got Suspicious and told them to stop all work on my bike, and that I wanted all the parts they had already removed so that I could have them checked by another mechanic. Upon having the parts checked by not one but two independent bike mechanics, I was told they had no idea why Harley Davidson would have changed the parts that there was nothing wrong with them meanwhile I was out $1150

No there was absolutely nothing wrong with the starter-motor or the compensator…

a 1 liter bmw will run circles around any harley, and do it quietly and smoothly. a vw beetle will carry 4 out of the rain, and a bit of luggage, too.
now, why are we giving a damn about harley?
