It's just an act for the show. In real life, Chum Lee is a financial genius. He graduated from Harvard at the age of 20 with a master's degree and he made close to 11 million dollars from day trading in the span of about 3 years. He obviously makes money off the show, but he really just does it for fun.
Chumlee makes a product placement "mistake" he paid the exact value of the machine because the Skype placement is worth way more.

So I just looked this up, the original silent scope machine goes for $600 but silent scope 2 goes for $4200 and chum definitely said he bought silent scope, not silent scope 2 so I wonder if that's why they thought it wasn't worth it

People who've watched too much "reality" television seem to have lost sight of the fact that there's always one maybe two cameramen on the scene. Likewise, the episode is usually scripted and very little can be spontaneous under those circumstances ! They are all OK actors though.
Look up the price for the arcade machine, they are going for 4grand+

Let's see, this season would have taken place in 2011, and even back then, arcade cabinets were worth at least $900-$1100 for a lesser known game used. For something like that, it's worth at least $1500, where even the cheapest replacement part runs a good $200.
Yeah seriously this wasn't a Street Fighter 2 cabinet, this was a legit tech marvel in arcade cabinets that isn't easy to maintain in working condition.

When he told the guys he bought a game for $700 and they asked him which one Chum replied “Silent Scope”. Corey then said it was worth $700 but Chum actually bought Silent Scope 2. In today’s market Silent Scope 2 sells for $700. So, when Chum actually bought the game somewhere around 2012 (Season 7) it was worth closer to the $1000 he had originally thought.

To be honest, chumlee usually makes good deals on videogame products. It is just the rest of the team doesnt know the value of the product or the market at all and then misestimates it

This is from season 7 so around 2016.
My employer does not even have desk phones.... our entire company phone system runs through Skype on the computers. All in-house and out-of-house meetings, regular phone calls, messaging, etc.
