A modern version of a Burgundian dress, very nice and it particularly suits a fuller figure as well, especially if belted under the bust. I'm making my daughter's wedding dress in this style but with slightly different sleeves and twice as much fabric (4 panels of 1.50 x 1.50 so you get a very very full hemline indeed. Men wore a similar style only carefully pleated and belted, also at knee length, the houppelande.
